‘Ballot Harvesting’ 2020 Has CA Democrats At Odds With Republican Voter Drop Boxes

The program Dems falsely claim to be illegal, is what they ‘proudly’ stated to be permissible just last year

With health safety concerns at polling stations due to the coronavirus, California Governor Gavin Newsom  signed an executive order stating all ballots will be mailed for the Nov. 3 election to all registered voters.

California Globe reported over 458,000 California registrants who have likely died or moved will be mailed ballots.

While Newsom’s order is still being challenged in court, Republicans in Southern California set up their own ballot drop boxes at churches, gas stations and gun shops.

This set off California Democrats, and almost immediately, Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Secretary of State Alex Padilla, both Democrats, sent a “cease and desist” letter this week telling the CA GOP “to stop operating unofficial ballot drop boxes.”

Becerra warned the California Republican Party:

“Misleading voters is wrong, regardless of who is doing it,” Secretary of State Alex Padilla said. “Political parties and campaigns can engage in get out the vote efforts, but they cannot violate state law. The unofficial, unauthorized drop boxes in question violate state law and jeopardize the security of voters’ ballots. State and local elections officials have worked tirelessly to provide voters multiple safe, secure options to return their vote-by-mail ballots. These unauthorized drop boxes are a disservice to elections administrators and a disservice to voters who deserve to cast their ballots with clarity and confidence.”

But according to state law, this is not illegal.

In 2016 the California Legislature and Gov. Jerry Brown ostensibly “legalized” ballot harvesting, allowing a third party to collect ballots and deliver them to election officials, eliminating the ballot protection law that allowed only a family member to return another voter’s ballot.

Assembly Bill 1921 now allows anyone to return an absentee ballot.

The law also encouraged campaign operatives to engage in coercive tactics, achieving the perfection of election fraud, as happened in 2018.

On election night 2018, California Republicans were heading for victories. Less than one month later, while ballots were still being counted, half of California’s Republican Congressional races were flipped by Democrat challengers, none of whom ever held an elected public office.

Republicans lost election night leads for five members of Congress, three state Assembly races, two state Senate seats and a Board of Equalization candidate in 2018.

California Democrats have created the perfect storm with pre-voter registration for teenagers, and illegal aliens, felons, and inmates are now able to vote. San Francisco also now allows illegal aliens to vote in a local election. Remember how the city spent more than $300,000 to register 49 non-citizens to vote?

Same-day voter registration and voting is now allowed now in California. And, in 2015, Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law The California New Motor Voter Program, which automatically registers all “eligible” California voters to vote when they first obtain or renew their driver’s licenses at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

So Republicans decided to partake in the law, and set up secure ballot drop boxes.

GOP attorneys sent a letter to the Attorney General and Secretary of State in response to the “cease and desist” order, pointing out, “the program that you now falsely claim to be illegal, is a perfect example of what you “proudly” stated to be permissible just last year.”

“The California Republican Party opposes ballot harvesting, and wishes you had enacted adequate ballot security provisions after the laws were changed.”

“Democrats have blasted the use of the unofficial boxes and say they fear Republicans could use them to gather and discard ballots,” Fox News reported. This is ironic since that is exactly what Democrats and anti-Trumpers have done in several other states.

Breitbart reported in September a Democrat insider said that anti-Trump postal workers in GOP neighborhoods throw mail-in ballots in the garbage. It is important to note that the postal workers labor union endorsed Joe Biden, ABC reported.

“The fraud tactic was potentially most recently used in the swing district of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, where the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Justice Department (DOJ) say mail-in ballots by members of the United States Armed Forces cast for Trump were ‘discarded,’” Breitbart reported.

State Republican Party spokesman Hector Barajas told Breitbart News that Padilla’s cease-and-desist letter is “just a deflection from the mounting criticism for giving a non-budgeted, $35 million get-out-the-vote contract to a ‘Team Biden’ PR firm, which is also receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars to oppose Republican candidates in targeted California districts.”

Last week, California Globe reported that California’s Secretary of State Alex Padilla had awarded a $35 million voter outreach contract with a “Team Biden” consulting firm with obvious ties to the Democratic Party.

The Globe also reported last week that California State Controller Betty Yee had rejected the state’s contract with the firm — but that the state was not answering questions. Fox News’ Tucker Carlson featured the story on Monday night, Breitbart reported.

  1. To me it was almost comical how quickly Secty of State Padilla and his sidekick Attorney General Becerra came bursting out of their rat holes, where they usually hide, to start issuing threats against Republicans for engaging in “felonies.” Really? For what? For doing what Democrats have championed since they changed the law four years ago to allow this very activity? Which was then followed by another law authored by the infamous Lorena “AB5 the Job Killer” Gonzalez that made things even looser? I guess it’s all good as long as only (paid) Democrat operatives and public employee union members do it? What’s next, throwing the book at RecallGavin2020.com signature-gatherers? Republicans with their ballot-collecting boxes look like SAINTS compared to this gang.

I found Padilla and Becerra’s panicky reaction rather disturbing, however, because to me it showed a consciousness of guilt that’s extremely worrisome in light of an important upcoming election. Why on earth would they think this form of collecting ballots was a “security” problem unless the Democrats have been engaging in something untoward with Republican ballots — like for instance throwing them in the nearest dumpster — all along?

Of course Padilla and Becerra have done absolutely nothing to bolster election integrity in this state; instead it seems to me they have done everything they can possibly do to thwart it.

  2. Does anyone bother to un-register to vote when they flee Cali? Think of all those ballots going to their last known address.
Reform California just did a study and found California Mailed “Massive” Number of Ballots in Error – Report Warns of Significant Risk of Voter Fraud
Problems include ballots sent to voters who moved away long ago, duplicate/triplicate ballots, and ballots for dead people and illegal immigrants

    1. Sam Axe: Also many voters in L.A. County made the phones light up at KABC recently with stories of duplicates, unknowns, dead people, out-of-staters, stacks of ballots at apartment house mailboxes, etc. One caller said that when you re-register in your new home state the registrar asks where you were last registered so they can notify the former SOS to remove you from the rolls. Obviously not done! Probably NEVER done.
Also I have heard stories of people who continue to get their CA ballots when they’ve moved to another state — in one case to CANADA! Some of them will vote, of course. It’s a mess.

Listen to the stories below if you are so inclined:
Also check out the Larry O’Connor Show KABC 790 for more such stories from voters.

  3. So what is good for the goose…..is not good for the gander. What damn hypocrisy. Please vote and vote to end this strangle hold the democrats have on our pocketbooks. If they see that we will not fund their agenda maybe we can get back to some sense able governance.

  4. California Democrats have now rigged the voting system in California to such a degree that even if voters wanted to vote them out it would be come virtually impossible. Big tech, unions and media giants have set up their oligarchy for generations to come. Baring a major catastrophe I’m not sure this course can be reversed.

    1. Really, I don’t want to be discouraging about voting. Just trying to document in a small and hands-on way the anecdotal problems that have arisen even at this early point. But as the old saw says “if it’s not close, they can’t cheat.” So it is conceivable that sensible votes could overwhelm the cheating, even now.

Besides, the whole mess COULD be cleaned up quite quickly and easily with the right person in charge. But you’re right, how do we vote that person in now with the rigging? Seems like we need intervention from the outside; i.e., the Feds, to call the meeting to order. But I keep hearing that the states are supreme and that can’t happen. Wondering why that is, given that a federal election is on the ballot?

What can we do about all of this? Certainly we need to vote in this election, first and foremost. But of course you don’t need me to tell you that, especially in this most unusual year where so much that is wrong in this state and elsewhere has been revealed.

    2. I think the democrats and big techs are gonna become and major odds.. I think eventually with the liberal voters not getting what they want with biden, there will be a third party driving away liberal voters from the democrats.. that will be a chance for the conservative/libertarian voters in California.

  5. One way to know what Democrats are doing is to listen to their accusations. What they accuse Republicans of doing they actually are doing.
