Declaring California a “Reproductive Freedom State,”Gov. Gavin Newsom signed two bills claiming this will help expand access to reproductive health care.

“Reproductive health care” is the preferred euphemism for abortion services.

These two bills are California’s legislative reaction to Texas passing a law prohibiting abortions of any unborn child with a detectable heartbeat. The media reports the new Texas law as “the most restrictive abortion measure in the country,” making it “illegal for people in the state to get an abortion as early as six weeks.”

Gov. Newsom said the new Texas law “strips women of their fundamental reproductive rights,” in a Tweet.

In another Tweet, Gov. Newsom said the legislation “supports access to reproductive health care services & protect patients & providers.”

AB 1356 by Assemblywoman Rebecca Bauer Kahn (D-Orinda) Creates new crimes under the California Freedom of Access to Clinic Act (Act) directed at videotaping, photographing, or recording patients or providers within 100 feet of the facility (“buffer” zone) or disclosing or distributing those images; increases misdemeanor penalties for violations of the Act; and updates and expands online privacy laws and peace officer trainings relative to anti-reproduction-rights offenses,” according to Assembly Floor Analysis.

AB 1184 by Assemblyman David Chiu (D-San Francisco) “guarantees that patients can safely access care without confusion or fear,” according to Assembly Floor Analysis. “Modeled off successful legislation in Washington State, this bill will also expand the definition of sensitive services to include transgender health care and behavioral health care, to ensure more individuals are able to have their privacy protected.”

“As part of the legislation, the governor also announced that the state will be participating in the newly-created California Future of Abortion Council advisory group, which consists of sexual and reproductive health care allies and partners, including Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, Black Women for Wellness Action Project and National Health Law Program,” CBS News reported.

Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, which sponsored both bills, said in a statement, “The “California Future of Abortion Council”—CA FAB Council for short—is comprised of reproductive freedom and sexual and reproductive health care allies, partners, and leaders. Ultimately, the CA FAB Council will create opportunities for those dedicated to advancing rights and expanding access to come together to develop and create a blueprint outlining California’s next steps and determine how expanding access to care could impact services and resources.”

“In 2019, Governor Newsom signed a Proclamation on Reproductive Freedom, reaffirming California’s commitment to protecting women’s reproductive choices,” a statement from Gov. Newsom’s administration says. “The Governor has advanced investments to expand access to reproductive and sexual health care and signed multiple bills protecting reproductive freedom, including SB 374 earlier this year and SB 24 and AB 1264 in 2019.”

  • Disgusting and horrifying. Oh, what about MEDICAL freedom for all to decide whether one would like a serum with no long term health studies and abhorrent side effects injected into his or her body? No.....?

    • K,
Thanks for pointing out the sheer hypocrisy!
Freedom to snuff out a pre born life is considered sacred by these goons.
Freedom to safeguard from unknown long term side effects is considered harmful to society from the same goons.
BTW, nice to see your post K, hope all is well!
      Stay Strong!

  • Truly never thought I would see the day in California when our "leaders" would be giving the green light to the wanna-be Josef Mengeles in our state, or that I would see the day when a statement like the one I just made would not be an exaggeration.

  • Being proud of being a reproductive freedom state is nothing to be proud of. It's essentially saying you're proud of allowing people to kill babies without regard and consequences from having unrestricted sexual activity.

  • The new California logo should have a picture of Newsom feeding babies to Moloch on it. This state is BEGGING for God's judgement.

  • It's too bad that mothers of Democrats in the legislature like Assemblywoman Rebecca Bauer-Kahan and Democrat Assemblyman David Chiu didn't promptly seek "reproductive health care?"

  • I can bend on rape (the rapist should be charge with murder if a baby is aborted), incest, and actual life endangerment (people have a right to self defense), but 99.9% of abortions don't include a single one of those conditions. What it all comes down to is it's murdering a human being, no matter how you try to twist it. I have heard all of the reasons (I want to finish school, I don't want to be a parent right now, I can't afford child right now (but won't consider giving it up for adoption), etc) in my circle of family, friends. Every single one of them was due to they were so selfish that you were willing to murder their own baby.

Passing and signing these bills should not be anything to be proud of, in fact it should be exact opposite, these people should be embarrassed and ashamed.

      • And Weiner wants to screw up people's lives in between by legalizing all manner of heavy narcotics....

Ain't it great to be a Californian??? Anything out of NorCal is completely screwed up....

    • Don't overlook the part where minors can keep their sex-change operations and hormone treatments a secret from their parents, too. That's all a part of this. They started with allowing it for foster children ----- an extremely vulnerable population ----- and then of course this was the next step. You could see it coming

  • So, if an abortion doesn’t kill the unborn, we’ll just wait a couple of years and maim or kill a child with a vaccine. Dems got it covered one way or another. Why are they always so happy to be evil?

  • Here is an old one that I still say: Adoption not abortion. Is that so sexist, anti-woman, or (the left's favorite word) racist? One of my relatives who is unable to have children, she and her husband adopted two babies shortly after birth from two mothers who did not want them. They are both in elementary school and are so bright, sweet, and full of love .We have so much fun when they come over to the house and wear me out!

    • It actually is an affirmation. to empower women to not have regrets later in life. It gives women the power to choose life.
Thank You for sharing that beautiful story, John.
