California Globe contributor and adjunct law professor Chris Micheli has written two new casebooks for students, practitioners, and those interested in learning more about aspects of California state government. The first casebook is focused on the California rulemaking process, which is when state agencies adopt regulations. The second casebook examines the California executive branch and the nine constitutional offices.
Both casebooks make extensive use of explanatory materials as well as state appellate court decisions in order to help readers better understand these areas of state law.
“These casebooks explore important areas of California government that impact taxpayers and many sectors of business in this state. Laws are not just made by the Legislature. The executive branch and its agencies and departments adopt 700-800 regulations every year,” explained Chris Micheli. “Understanding the role and duties of the executive branch of government and its regulatory agencies will round out people’s understanding of state government and how it operates.”
The California Rulemaking Process casebook includes 27 chapters and 33 court decisions. The Executive Branch casebook includes 39 chapters and 21 court decisions.
