In a patriotic speech for the California Republican Party convention 2019, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was empathetic with the battle California Republicans fight against not just Democrats, but Democrat Socialism. “We are the party that understands how important our constitution is, and why we must defend it and fight for it,” Cheney said. “You guys are at ground zero in California.”
Cheney said the Democrat agenda is only “for the government,” and she called out the Democrats’ socialist policies that would strip people of their freedom and independence. “The Green New Deal would turn us into socialist nation,” Cheney said. “There is fundamental fraud at heart of what they are trying to get American people to buy. Remember that the real agenda is to take power from the people and give it to the federal government.”
“You can’t be for the people doing this if everyone of your policies would consolidate power for the federal government,” Cheney added.”
“Socialism has been tried in a bunch of places and was the biggest, dreariest flop in history,” Cheney said. “I stood proud with my Republican colleagues when President Trump said, ‘American will never be a socialist nation.’”
Cheney said the battle right now about who is going to control the Democrat Party – the Socialists or the moderate Democrats?
“Then there’s junior Sen. Kamala Harris… she’s fully embraced the Socialist wing of their party,” Cheney said. “She wants medicare for all to create an all-government healthcare plan. This would cost $32 trillion in just the first decade.”
“And let’s never forget – no public program can ever deliver the kind of prosperity and progress that free markets and free people have built in the United States,” Cheney said. “Come to think of it, right here today, let’s issue a challenge to all our Democratic socialist colleagues. Let’s call on them to walk the walk, and not just talk the talk of socialism.”
