The Great California Mask Off: ‘Let Kids Breathe’ Rallies Across California

Masks and vaccine passports becoming very unpopular in California

By Katy Grimes, May 13, 2021 11:27 am

The Informed Parents of California are hosting the first “Mask Off” and “Let Kids Breathe” Sit Out and Zoom Out rally Monday May 17th in Orange County, together with twenty other locations across the state.

They point out that under California Education Code 49005.8 (3), it is illegal to restrain or impair a pupils’ respiratory airway and/or breathing capacity.

Many now conclude that masking children inside or outside is absurd and cruel as the data has consistently shown children are not only at a much lower risk of falling ill to COVID than the elderly, the obese, diabetics, and those with underlying health issues, several studies have shown children are not the spreaders of the coronavirus. It’s also quite difficult to find documented cases of people catching COVID-19 outside.

The Globe recently reported on this:

Harvard Medical School Professor Martin Kulldorff, a biostatistician, and epidemiologist, and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a physician, economist and professor at Stanford Medical School, said in a recent Wall Street Journal op ed, “The young are at low risk, and children—for whom no vaccine has been approved anyway—are at far less risk of death than from the flu. If authorities mandate vaccination of those who don’t need it, the public will start questioning vaccines in general.”

Orange County has been in the news recently, as Dr. Clayton Chau, director of the Orange County Health Care Agency and acting county health officer recently proposed a pilot program for “vaccine passports” in the county – a “show-me-your-papers” or “digital passport” program to provide COVID vaccination evidence, the Globe reported.

Orange County residents were so outraged, hundreds protested outside the Orange County Board of Supervisors meeting, and more than 700 signed up to speak in opposition to the proposed vaccine passport. Informed Parents of California also opposed this plan.

In April, the Globe reported Save Our Sonoma held a “PEACEFUL NO MASK MARCH” in Sonoma advocating for reopening the county and its schools.

A movement is definitely afoot.

  1. Love It!
Did not see any districts here in the Bay Area.
What can I expect, people here double up and wear them in their car.

    1. Agree CaliGirl! Convertible top down, wind blowing, driving 70mph on 680 in NorCal and yes sir, they had a mask on! Insane sheep! This past week I have been testing the waters with masks required. Stating at businesses that I forgot my mask, some don’t even have one to give me and some just say ok. It is slowly going away! SLOWLY

  2. There appears to be “pent up” resentment and anger toward the Newsom administration, as a whole, that the polls and surveys are not picking up. By removing the lock down measures early, such as masking, he is basically admitting that his policies were mistakes, no matter how he tries to explain his actions. So, Newsom is in a bind. If he keeps the policies in place, anger increases. If he removes them early, he can’t justify why the policies were instituted in the first place. This will be FUN to watch as it plays out. The recall is gaining strength, imo. Democrat leaders will have to consider putting up their alternative candidate – Tulsi? LOL 🙂

    1. P.S. And let’s not forget the pressure Newsom is getting from his benefactors, like the teachers union, to vaccinate and mask ALL the students.

      1. Shameful, isn’t it?
We need billboards up and down all the freeways reminding the good people of California how his actions have devastated lives!

I bet Tulsi would defy Fancy Nancy’s order not to run against Newsom. There is no love lost between those two. However, Tulsi has her own state to help nurse back to health.

        1. Tulsi bailed on Hawaii last Fall & transferred to Silicon Valley…

Do a web search on Tulsi Gabbard California….

        2. Cali Girl, Gabbard declared that she is not running for her seat again in Hawaii. I believe you are right about defying Pelosi. Gabbard was the only Democrat not to vote for impeaching Trump – she abstained. Tulsi did not support Hillary either. It’s beginning to look more and more like Gabbard could be a “wild card” if she meets the residency and other requirements.

          1. P.S. Is there ANY way we can get Tulsi Gabbard’s name on the recall ballot? She needs 7000 signatures? Can someone start a “Draft Tulsi” campaign? It would really throw a wrench into Pelosi’s plan. LOL 🙂

      2. Gee, not sure that Dems who try to jump in will fare very well and they might regret it when it comes to their future in politics. They’ll be seen as sucking support from Gavin or stabbing him in the back as he tries to save his job. But I’m sure some will do it anyway.
Anne Dunsmore, one of the campaign managers with the Recall, once predicted that given all Gavin has wrought and how ticked off Californians are because of it, that no matter WHAT he does now he won’t be able to get back in their good graces. Knock wood.

      3. This is wonderful! I am in Riverside County. Would like to see this here as well.
        Thank you so much!

  3. It was wonderful to see this planned “Mask-Off” event from Informed Parents of California. I want to say it was a real shot in the arm, but that’s probably not a good idea. Instead I’ll say it’s a breath of fresh air! Because it is. I hope they make a lot of noise.

  4. The number of Mexican voters now living in California ensures Newsom’s re-election and worse. Hope I’m wrong but know I’m not.

  5. This is wonderful! I am in Riverside County. Would like to see this here as well.
    Thank you so much!
