Cities and police departments around the country are preparing for election protests and/or riots Tuesday Nov. 3.
“Chicago police are ramping up patrols, the city has activated its emergency preparedness center and officials are warning of potential closures as they prepare for the possibility of election protests next week,” NBC Chicago reported.
“Beverly Hills is closing Rodeo Drive, where merchants have been encouraged to board up stores. Plywood is also going up in downtown San Francisco and Washington, DC. Some cities are eyeing curfews and stocking up on tear gas,” the Orange County Register reported.
Gov. Gavin Newsom instructed state agencies to prepare for the potential of social unrest during voting and after the polls close, the Desert Sun reported.
Macy’s in downtown Sacramento is gearing up for election night following threats of violence. I took these photos Sunday inside and outside of the store. Macy’s was destroyed during the last bout of Sacramento rioting. The entire jewelry department was looted and destroyed while the Sacramento Police Department was ordered to guard the publicly-funded Golden 1 Arena.
Macy’s learned the hard way that the city would not protect them or any other business during previous riots and protests, so they are preparing for the inevitable.
This is life in a Democrat run city – priorities are skewed, and police getting orders from an increasingly anti-police Mayor and City Council.
As the Globe reported last week, Antifa and Black Lives Matter, along with other far left groups across the country, are promising there will be riots if Donald Trumps wins re-election, and challenger Joe Biden loses.
Sacramento Black Lives Matter, which has wreaked havoc in downtown Sacramento during their protests and riots, recently announced they were planning on providing gun training to their members. Yet they also call for defunding the police. So while they are arming themselves and getting gun training, the police are supposed to be neutered?
Apparently Gov. Gavin Newsoms’ gathering restrictions allowing only 3 households to gather outside for two hours maximum, requiring 6 feet distancing, frequent sanitizing, with no shouting, singing or chanting, does not apply to Antifa, BLM or any other unlawful gathering, protests or riots.
As the Globe has reported several times, most small businesses in downtown Sacramento never took the plywood boards down from the last riots. And behind these boarded up windows are mostly shut-down businesses because of Gov. Newsom’s now 8-months of statewide lockdowns.
UPDATE: There is a Black Lives Matter protest Monday night at the Sacramento County Jail. And another protest at Southside Park Wednesday sponsored by the Anti Police Terror Project Sacramento. California Globe has been expecting a protest at Cesar Chavez park across from City Hall, and finally has heard that there will be one – details to come.
