Congressman Adam Schiff Robbed of his Luggage in San Francisco Car Break In

‘He’s now the victim of a burglary in San Francisco, so he can’t really claim that it isn’t a problem’

Senate candidate and Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) was a victim of theft on Thursday when thieves broke into his car while he was in San Francisco, taking his luggage, forcing him to go to a fundraiser in street clothing.

Schiff arrived in Northern California on Thursday in order to attend multiple political events. Before arriving in San Francisco, he was told not to leave anything in his car. However, with a campaign dinner set for that night in the San Mateo County city of Burlingame, Schiff was in a hurry, although he did stop briefly at the Fang Restaurant in San Francisco. He left his luggage in his car in the parking garage, where it was stolen. While Schiff reported the theft, it was too late to do anything about it, forcing him to go in jeans, a blue shirt, and a hiking vest.

He arrived that night at the Ristorante Rocca for a duel event that would be honoring attorney Joe Cotchett and supporting Schiff’s Senate run. Upon arrival he told the guests, mostly in suits, what had happened. However, he told everyone that he was not too stressed out by the theft as he was not in the car at the time.

“Yes, they took my bags,” said Schiff. “But I’m here to thank Joe.”

Cotchett, in turn, was understanding of Schiff’s situation and reaffirmed his support for Schiff’s Senate bid.

“I guess it’s ‘Welcome to San Francisco,'” noted Cotchett’s press agent Lee Housekeeper.

Cotchett himself added, “Adam really showed himself tonight. He’ll be a great senator. He’s going to change the Senate tremendously.”

While Schiff continued his Bay Area events on Friday, his office said that no more comments about the incident would be released as an investigation takes place. The burglary is also said to have taken place during a time where crime in San Francisco remains high. While the crime rate, including burglary, has dropped in San Francisco in the past few years, the total amount is still bad enough, highlighted by Schiff’s theft on Thursday.

“Schiff played this one very well,” explained political advisor Sheila Cruz to the Globe on Friday. “He did the necessary reports, he showed resilience by still attending in what he had on, he didn’t dwell on the issue, and ultimately proved he could still do his commitments despite setbacks.”

“However, on the flip side, Schiff will now have to tread lightly when it comes to talking about crime in San Francisco or high crime across the state as well. He’s now the victim of a burglary in San Francisco, so he can’t really claim that it isn’t a problem. Steve Garvey’s campaign can definitely use this incident down the line if Schiff gets too much on a high horse about crime or tries to say that crime isn’t that big a problem. Because he himself had it happen to him in California’s posterchild crime city. Also, he can point out that Schiff did not listen to advice to not keep things in his car there.”

“Schiff did handle this well and is taking the high road by not discussing this while it is under investigation. But his political gameplan just changed a bit, as did Garvey’s.”

More on Schiff’s robbery is expected to come out soon.

  • This has all the signs of Russia Collusion! Just ask the fifty or so who signed the letter! Trump is behind this! Tune into MSNBC tonight for coverage.

  • Can't wait to find out what he had in his luggage. For a guy like him the possibilities are endless and could be most amusing (and revealing).

  • No doubt creepy Democrat Rep. Schiff hooked up with his creepy buddy Democrat State Senator Scott Wiener and they trolled Folsom Street looking for vulnerable youth? It's what creepy Democrats do?

  • Boy, this is funny. Mr. Progressive Criminal Justice Reform, Adam Schiff, had his car busted into and they took all his clothes. If you go into his congressional website, you'd find that he's been a champion for a progressive and practical criminal justice reform. You all know what that means:

LET OUT ALL THE PRISONERS EARLY AND DON'T PROSECUTE ALL THE CRIMINALS TODAY.

    Karma is sweet.

    STEVE GARVEY FOR CA SENATOR!!

  • He was not robbed. His car was broken into and his luggage was stolen. Robbery requires the following: Elements of Robbery
The crime of robbery involves (1) the taking of the property of another (2) from his or her person or in their presence (3) by violence, intimidation or threat (4) with the intent to deprive them of it permanently.

  • Schiff won't learn from being "mugged by reality" because reality is a totally foreign concept to him.
