Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Endorses Proposition 4

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced his support for Proposition 4 today during a morning press conference stating the importance of voting ‘yes’. The Mayor made the announcement this with the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) President & CEO Paul Viviano, doctors, and medical staff, following a special visit to CHLA patients and families.

Prop. 4 relates to The Children’s Hospital Bond on the ballot for this November. If passed, the measure will provide $1.5 billion over 15 years for critical infrastructure upgrades, hospital expansions, and medical technology for California’s 13 children’s hospitals. “Proposition 4 will give our children’s hospitals important resources to ensure kids get the highest level of care and treatment,” said Mayor Garcetti. “We’re fortunate to have one of these premier hospitals right here in Los Angeles, making this an easy choice on voters’ ballots. Angelenos should vote ‘yes’ on Prop 4.”

Increasing by about 20,000 patients each year, the number of visits at CHLA has grown dramatically since its founding in 1901. Proposition 4 would allow the organization to add more beds and continue to ensure it has the most state-of-the-art equipment for patient care. Treating kids up to the age of 21 and regardless of family income, CHLA focuses primarily on patients suffering serious and life-threatening conditions. CHLA is ranked as the No. 6 hospital by U.S. News & World Report and is the No. 1 ranked hospital for children in California. It has also received Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Currently, Prop 4 is supported by more than 100 elected officials, organizations and community leaders.
