Third World Somalia Passes Voter ID Requirement – Will the United States?

‘With Voter ID, Somalia Is Embarrassing America Over Election Integrity’

The U.S. House of Representatives just passed the SAVE America Act Wednesday. H.R.8281 the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, requires Americans to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote, and to present photo identification when casting a ballot.

With Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer threatening that the SAVE America Act will be “dead on arrival,” it is interesting to note that Somalia recently passed a voter ID requirement.

Somalia, a Third World country, will have more election integrity, and more secure elections, than the First World United States, unless the U.S. Senate also passes the voter integrity bill.

“Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that only people ‘with national identification cards will be recognized as citizens once the ongoing biometric ID program concludes,’” PJ Media reported.

With Voter ID, Somalia Is Embarrassing America Over Election Integrity, the PJ Media headline accurately says.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), the bill’s author, explains:

The SAVE America Act, an enhanced version of the popular SAVE Act, would protect and preserve the right of American citizens to vote by:

  • Requiring individuals to present an eligible photo identification document before voting. (NEW provision)
  • Requiring states to obtain proof of citizenship – in person – when registering an individual to vote. (From original SAVE Act)
  • Requiring states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls. (From original SAVE Act)

There are doubts that Senate Republicans have enough votes, particularly with Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s rejection of the legislation, according to Fox digital. The measure will pass on a simple majority vote if all of the Republicans vote to support it. If not, some Senators are pushing to nuke the 60-vote filibuster threshold.

It’s rich that Democrats and some Republicans oppose voter ID when during Covid they wanted Covid vaccine passports. They told Americans that if we wanted to get back to work and school, we’d have to show papers – proof of vaccination.

Yes Democrats oppose voter ID proposals on the offensive grounds that they disproportionately disenfranchise Black, Native, elderly, low‑income and student voters and therefore amount to voter suppression.

Polling has consistently shown strong majorities — including among Democrats, independents, Whites, Blacks, and Latinos — support voter ID requirements. CNN reporter Harry Enten even reported, “The bottom line is this: Voter ID is NOT controversial in this country. A photo ID to vote is NOT controversial in this country. It is not controversial by party and it is not controversial by race. The vast majority of Americans agree.”

However they get it through, this bill is the “critical step toward restoring election integrity by ensuring only U.S. citizens are voting in federal elections and are showing ID,” Rep. Roy said. “Over eighty percent of Americans—across party lines and across racial groups—support voter ID because it’s simple, reasonable, and common sense.”

Meanwhile, Somalia, in Eastern Africa, passed voter ID. Let that sink in.
