Code of Civil Procedure Part 2, Title 7, Chapter 6 deals with deposits in court for civil actions in California.

Section 572 provides that, when it is admitted by the pleadings, or shown upon the examination of a party to the action, that he or she has in his or her possession, or under his or her control, any money or other thing capable of delivery which is held by him or her as trustee for another party, the court may order the same, upon motion, to be deposited in court or delivered to the party, upon those conditions that may be just, subject to the further direction of the court.

Section 573 says that, whenever money is paid into or deposited in the court under this chapter, it is to be deposited with the court’s treasury.

Section 574 provides, whenever, in the exercise of its authority, a court has ordered the deposit or delivery of money, or other thing, and the order is disobeyed, the court, beside punishing the disobedience, may make an order requiring the sheriff or marshal to take the money, or thing, and deposit or deliver it in conformity with the direction of the court.
