Lydia Dominguez, U.S. Air Force veteran, Clark County School Board Trustee, author, and single mom, announced her campaign today for Congress in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District (CD-3).

“Nevada voters will learn a lot about me in the weeks and months ahead, but let me start with these three unwavering commitments: (1) I pledge to support Term Limits for Members of Congress; (2) I will oppose any and all tax increases on our already financially-strained workers, and (3) I pledge to support a Balanced Budget Amendment to keep politicians from bankrupting our country and future generations,” Dominguez said in her campaign’s announcement.

“Southern Nevada families deserve a representative who shares our values, our patriotism and our basic common sense.  I’ve balanced service, work, and motherhood. In Congress, I’ll fight to lower costs, maintain a secure border, ban inside stock trading by Members of Congress, and protect the opportunities that made my American dream possible.”

“As an immigrant from Mexico who became a U.S. citizen as a teenager, I know the promise of America,” Dominguez added. “We must maintain a secure border, stop the fentanyl crisis, and restore the rule of law while always protecting opportunity for those who follow it. President Trump showed that Nevada’s 3rd District is ready for change, and I’ll work alongside him to put American families first.”

Nevada’s 3rd District, covering southern Las Vegas and communities like Spring Valley and Summerlin South, is one of the most competitive in the nation. Although Democrat Susie Lee has held the seat since 2019, President Trump carried the district in 2024, making it one of only 13 total seats in the country with this distinction. As a result, the National Republican Congressional Committee has named this district a top target for 2026.

Currently, Latino voters make up approximately 21 percent of the total electorate in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. No demographic has shifted more drastically from the Democrats to the Republicans than Latinos, who supported President Donald Trump with 35 percent of the vote in 2020, and increased it to 49 percent in 2024. The district has also seen a dramatic decrease for Democrats in terms of voter registration, making it a possible flip for the GOP.

– D+2.72% (currently)

– D+3.26% (Election Day 2024)

– D+5.86% (Election Day 2022)

In the 2024 general election, Rep. Lee defeated her Republican challenger by less than three percent.

According to her press release, Dominguez’s campaign will focus on priorities for Nevada families:

  • Cutting the cost of living by reining in spending and unleashing affordable American energy.
  • Maintaining a secure border and fighting the scourge of fentanyl trafficking.
  • Safer schools with improved accountability, choice, and transparency for parents.
  • Expanding career & technical education for high-wage local jobs.
  • Supporting law enforcement and standing with veterans and military families.

Lydia Dominguez served ten years in the U.S. Air Force (E-6, Flight Chief of Personnel). In 2020, she authored Don’t Turn Back, a survival guide for women escaping domestic violence. She has championed Latino civic engagement as Southwest Regional Director for Latinos for America First and serves on Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony’s Task Force to Protect Women’s Sports. In 2024, Lydia was elected to the Clark County School Board.
