Save America: It’s Time to Nuke the Filibuster
And pass critical bills to save America: Voter ID, Same-day voting, paper ballots, proof of citizenship

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats have used the filibuster to block the House-passed bipartisan spending bill 14 times. How is the Democrat Senate minority able to impose this kind of legislative gridlock over the majority Senate Republicans?
“Filibustering includes any use of dilatory or obstructive tactics to block a measure by preventing it from coming to a vote. The possibility of filibusters exists because Senate rules place few limits on Senators’ rights and opportunities in the legislative process,” a special report from Congress.gov on the history of filibustering explains.
President Donald Trump has been strongly urging the Senate to terminate the filibuster and get government open again.
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on The Five this week told Republicans it was time to “nuke the filibuster” for spending bills, the Daily Caller reported. “Let me propose a very simple solution here. Filibuster, not in the Constitution. Filibuster, not passed legislatively. Filibuster can be removed for the sole purpose of spending bills. You can just remove the filibuster to open the government,” McEnany said. “When military members are hurting, when we are not safe in the skies, it is time to nuke the filibuster for spending bills because Democrats are hurting our country.”
She’s just proposing doing this for spending bills, which is one option.
If the Senate terminates the Filibuster in total, they can codify President Trump’s Executive Orders into laws, and do it with majority votes.
They can open the government, pass a nationwide voter ID law. They can pass a law restoring voting day where Americans show up in person to cast one man-one ballot on Election Day.
They can scrap Obamacare.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump explained why the filibuster needs to be nuked:
The Democrats are far more likely to win the Midterms, and the next Presidential Election, if we don’t do the Termination of the Filibuster (The Nuclear Option!), because it will be impossible for Republicans to get Common Sense Policies done with these Crazed Democrat Lunatics being able to block everything by withholding their votes. FOR THREE YEARS, NOTHING WILL BE PASSED, AND REPUBLICANS WILL BE BLAMED. Elections, including the Midterms, will be rightfully brutal. If we do terminate the Filibuster, we will get EVERYTHING approved, like no Congress in History. We will have FAIR, FREE, and SAFE Elections, No Men in Women’s Sports or Transgender for Everybody, Strong Borders, Major Tax and Energy Cuts, and will secure our Second Amendment, which the Democrats will also terminate, IMMEDIATELY. If we don’t do it, they are far more likely to do well in the upcoming Elections, which would mean a PACKED Supreme Court, 2 more States and 4 more Democrat Senators (D.C. and Puerto Rico), and 8 more Electoral Votes. Remember, Republicans, they are going to end the Filibuster as soon as they get the chance We know this because they already tried, and the only two people who didn’t go along are now out of office. But they have much less chance of WINNING if we have Great Policy Wins after Wins after Wins. IN FACT, THEY WILL LOSE BIG, AND FOR A VERY LONG TIME. TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER NOW, END THE RIDICULOUS SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATELY, AND THEN, MOST IMPORTANTLY, PASS EVERY WONDERFUL REPUBLICAN POLICY THAT WE HAVE DREAMT OF, FOR YEARS, BUT NEVER GOTTEN. WE WILL BE THE PARTY THAT CANNOT BE BEATEN – THE SMART PARTY!!!
Voter ID could turn California red again, or at least purple, and may spell the end of the cheating Democrat Party.
Republicans could reopen the government by voting to end the 60-vote rule, but many GOP senators refuse to support eliminating the filibuster. Many are weary of scraping the filibuster, warning it can be used against them if/when Democrats retake the Senate.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said “The filibuster has traditionally been viewed as a very important safeguard. If the shoe was on the other foot, I don’t think our team would like it.”
Mila Joy named the Republicans who oppose ending the filibuster on X, and she didn’t pull any punches:

Abolish the filibuster and pass critical bills to save America: Voter ID, Same-day voting, paper ballots, proof of citizenship. If the filibuster is not lifted, modified or overturned by Republicans, Democrats will abolish it to pass their agenda.
And America’s downfall will be solidified.

Voter ID is only as secure as the people signing up voters & checking ID’s are trustworthy.
By the time the ballot is cast its already long since separated from any identifying info so even if fraud is found they can just do what they did in 2020 with what few cases were actually heard by courts & say “well we don’t know who they voted for so the election stands”
If the people in DC actually cared at all about secure elections we would require thumb print on the ballot itself like the vast majority of the planet does.
Its not like the feds don’t already have that data anyway, if you bother to look into FOIA lawsuits against the DOD its been known for over a decade that hospitals have been collecting fingerprint data on infants for 60+ years and sharing it with the feds & that big tech has been sharing both face and touch screen data (your fingerprints) with DARPA since smart screens have existed (which by their own admission has allowed them to collect data on about 70-80% of people living in the US)
Nuking the filibuster is a horrible idea. Based on current trends including unnecessarily withholding SNAP funds, eliminating healthcare, and abusing immigrants, it is highly likely that the Democrats will control Congress after the 2028 elections. Without the filibuster, Democrats will eliminate student debt be adding trillions to the deficit, defund the police, enact price controls across the country, bankrupt the healthcare system, etc. It’s only a matter of time. Be careful what you route for.
@Nofearmfd, you need to read the Whatfinger proposal again. It is saying that this would be a TEMPORARY removal of the filibuster NOT a permanent “nuclear option” that would let Democrats use the filibuster at will if they regain control of Congress. Republicans would reinstate the filibuster rule after passing the Trump AMERICA FIRST agenda.
Raymond ….. That’s what I thought too but but I’ve read plenty of arguments that once you open Pandora’s box, you’ll never close it. Democrats will simply repeat the Republican process when they are in power.
Also, the Democrats have had previous opportunities to do the same thing but didn’t do it. Unfortunately, several of those reasonable Democrats that voted against the nuclear option when they had the opportunity, are no longer in office.
Do you seriously think the Democrats won’t nuke the filibuster the next time they’re in power and a minority of Republicans stop them from enacting their agenda?
Dennis Prager used to say, “There is a stupid party and a dangerous party. I’m a member of the stupid party.” So, some Reps may really believe that if they keep the filibuster now, the Dems will reciprocate in the future.
However, I think the primary reasons the Senate Reps keep the filibuster are:
1. They don’t want to enact Donald Trump’s America First agenda.
2. They don’t want to assume full responsibility for governing America. Now, they can say, we would like to address problem X, e.g., healthcare, but we can’t because the filibuster requires 60 votes.
If Donald Trump wants to eliminate the filibuster and enact all of his agenda, he needs to apply Ronald Reagan’s principle in a concerted and organized way that he has not done.

It will take Donald Trump’s concerted focus and mobilization of his supporters.

I agree. It’s time to end the filibuster. The Democrat’s demands are insane: eliminate Health Saving Accounts, free healthcare for illegal immigrants, eliminating Rural Healthcare Transformation Fund, extending Obamacare subsidies. Republicans might as well be negotiating with Antifa.
Republicans have a lot of work to do before the mid-terms.
