American Freedom isn’t Available Through Commie Mamdani’s NYC or Comrade Newsom’s California
No one really wants what Democrats are selling

Millionaire and billionaire taxes; rent control; gun control; nationalizing industries; free government health care; free college; government grocery stores; racial, economic, and climate justice; free bus and train transportation; police defunded; free childcare; $30 minimum wage;
Communism and socialism both aim for shared ownership but differ in resource distribution and class structure.
Witness Zohran Mamdani, New York City’s new Mayor, sworn in January 1, 2026: On the day of his swearing in, Mamdani rescinded two of former Mayor Eric Adams’ executive orders which were aimed at blocking official acts that smacked of antisemitism, the New York Post’s Michael Goodwin reported.
“With New York home to more than 1 million Jews, and with Israel, a key American ally, fighting for its survival against terrorists, it’s an extremely odd way for a mayor to start a four-year term,” Goodwin reported.
“The kumbaya gibberish echoed a passage in his Thursday address where he promised to ‘govern audaciously’ and ‘replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.’”
“As one critic noted, the Mamdani agenda can be summed up as ‘audacious collectivism.’”
Rather than deploying more police to prevent crime, assaults, and murders on public transit, Mamdani will deploy “Transit Ambassadors to assist New Yorkers on their journeys.”
And Mamdani will freeze the rents, while cracking down on “bad landlords.” He hasn’t made the leap that when you freeze the rent to something affordable in the 1990’s, landlords can’t afford to put in central heat and air, or nice kitchens and bathrooms. Zohran even threatens “when an owner demonstrates consistent neglect for their tenants, the City will decisively step in and take control of their properties.” That’s communism/Marxism – he’s freezing the rents rather than allowing free markets to dictate rent, and then taking possession of privately owned apartment buildings when they fall into disrepair.
Witness California Governor Gavin Newsom, elected in 2018, sworn in January 2019 – he’s had seven years to perfect his Socialist/Marxist policies, leaving California with the highest cost of living in the country, one-half of the country’s homeless population, the highest poverty in the country, weakest election integrity in the country, worst K-12 math and English test scores, water rationing because of mismanagement of the state’s water supply, electricity shortage because of Newsom’s shutdown of hydraulic fracturing and natural gas plants, restriction of nuclear power, leading to a reliance on unreliable solar and wind energy sources. Some Newsom highlights:
- Newsom’s billionaire tax proposal of 5%;
- Newsom’s $20 fast food minimum wage, killing off fast food restaurants, raising prices, and causing more unemployment and reduced hours of fast food workers;
- Governor Gavin Newsom’s 2023 Racial Equity Commission, established by an executive order. In 2022, Governor Newsom signed an executive order “directing state agencies and departments to take additional actions to embed equity analysis and considerations in their mission, policies and practices”;
- Newsom’s “Great Leap Forward:” his California Agricultural Land Equity Task Force to facilitate a land grab from white farmers, to e redistributed to farm workers, “indigenous persons,” and other persons of color;
- Newsom signs bills to hold ‘Big Oil’ Responsible for Disasters , sponsored by Notorious Leftist Groups, and Newsom’s own policies to shut down the oil industry;
- Energy shortage caused by restricting nuclear and coal power;
- Newsom’s Water rationing continues: How can California have a water crisis when the state borders the Pacific Ocean, and the Sierra Nevada mountain range, 400 miles north-south and 50 miles to 80 miles east–west, drains into more than 15 rivers, six lakes, and numerous creeks? The Sierra Nevada snowpack is the major source of water and a significant source of electric power generation in California.
- At the direction of Gov. Gavin Newsom, CARB’s new fuel standard will increase ethanol in gasoline from E10 (10%) to E15 (15%) and E85 (85%). CARB refused to analyze the impact, however independent estimates project the price of gasoline could increase at least 65¢ to 85¢ per gallon. This will increase the cost of transportation for everything from food to groceries and negatively impact tourism and air travel, down almost -4% since Newsom’s two-year lockdowns during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Who can forget that Gavin Newsom, who wouldn’t deploy the state guard to regain control of Los Angeles during recent riots, deployed police against people out for a run on the beach, and a lone paddle boarder in Malibu during his Covid lockdowns? He ordered all Californians to stay in their homes, rather than just quarantining the sick. He asked snitches to rat out their neighbors and friends, for a reward, on those who dare to defy his shelter-at-home order. And then arrested those “violating” the stay-home orders, all while thousands of inmates were released from jails and homeless still live on city streets, unrestrained, unsheltered, and apparently immune from police arrests or prosecution.
This is an incomplete list, but it’s evident that all of the policies are motivated by socialism or Marxism.
There is no pushback from California’s compliant media, or from younger voters, educated in California’s Marxist public schools, colleges and universities.
Notably, the Heritage Foundation reported in 2018:
A 2016 Gallup survey found that 55 percent of those 18-29 had a “positive image” of socialism. But 90 percent were favorable to “entrepreneurs” while 78 percent favored “free enterprise.” How can a group be 55 percent socialist and 78 per cent entrepreneurial? Either through cognitive dissonance or plain ignorance.
It’s worse today.
What is Socialism, and how does it differ from Communism?
The misnomer “Democratic Socialists of America,” seeks public ownership of the means of production as well as centralized control of goods and services.
Under communism, most property and economic resources are owned and controlled by the state, rather than by individual citizens.
Communism requires state control over resources, while socialism claims to distribute based on contribution and effort.
Under communism, the government provides most or all food, clothing, housing, and other necessities based on what it considers to be the needs of the people.
Socialism is based on the premise that people will be compensated based on their level of individual contribution to the economy. Universally used services such as housing, utilities, mass transit, and health care are distributed by the government, while consumer goods are distributed by a capitalistic free market.
Pure communism is an economic, political, and social system in which most or all property and resources are collectively owned by a class-free society rather than by individual citizens. There is no private ownership of economic resources, with a central government controlling all facets of production.
Far too many leftists in government leadership positions have nothing to offer the people they govern – they already gave away all of the free stuff – welfare, food stamps, free healthcare, Obama phones, free child care, and they moved illegal aliens to the front of the line. Now, rather than listening to the people and governing accordingly, they have moved even farther to the left into the arms of socialists, communists and Marxists.
No one really wants what Democrats are selling.
One additional example of this disregard of the people comes from Gavin Newsom, explained perfectly by Reform California:
Newsom filed for an “Emergency Injunction” from the liberal-dominated California Supreme Court to prohibit voters from voting on the California Taxpayer Protection Initiative in the November 2024 election – despite the fact that citizens had collected the required 1 million signatures to force the issue onto the ballot.
Before the CA Supreme Court, Gavin Newsom’s legal team argued that voters are too stupid to decide on important issues like tax hikes! “The voters simply don’t have the capacity,” claimed Margaret Prinzing, attorney for Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The liberal court unanimously sided with Newsom, blocking the California Taxpayer Protection Initiative from the November ballot — effectively stripping citizens of the initiative rights that they have had for over 112 years.
Stay tuned. Things are about to change, even in California.

Don’t forget- Newsom also has plans for the state to run the existing oil refineries after he forces them out of state.
I like the last line in your article as things are about to “change” here in California. I’m watching the Maduro trial in New York with one of the biggest media markets in the world. Maduro “supposedly” won his last reelection in 2024 with the assistance electronic voting equipment. The same equipment developed by the same company has been in use here in the states since the early 2000’s. Mamdani and Newsom’s goose is about to be cooked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA8a2g6tTp0
“Things are about to change, even in California.”
Yes, but there is no reason to expect things to change for the better in California, at least within the foreseeable future. If there is some amount of corruption, incompetence, and mal-governance that would cause ~15% of CA voters to change how they vote, (net of vote fraud), we have not reached it. And, the CA Rep Party has not given them any reason to do so.
Watching closely and looking forward to the “change.” In light of recent events nationally (and internationally) it’s fully rational to anticipate that the suffocating ether-soaked rag of an almost completely corrupt state led by the Dem-Marxist CA legislature, the mob-like Dem-Marxist state officeholders and bureaucrats, and the cynical, smug, puffed-up, treacherous, conscience-less, horse’s-ass-like Gov Gavin Newsom is going to be lifted from the noses and mouths of Californians SOMEHOW, and soon, even if it isn’t in the form of some of our most specific and long-held wishes. Now that the new year has begun, and as events unfold, we will be able to, little by little, learn to breathe again. Guess we’ll see……….
I’ve been saying it for a while now. The Democratic Party is a Communist Party. There are too many obvious indications of this, especially after what we went through with COVID.
Funny how all these entitled Democrat comrades like Mandami and Newsom who really never worked for a living claim to champion the working class while throwing them under the bus?
