Jennifer Newsom’s ‘Gender Justice’ Nonprofit Job Post Included Questions Illegal to Ask in California
Newsom’s movies include sexually explicit images and political indoctrination – are sold to public schools

California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife makes “gender justice” movies and sells them to the state public education system through her non-profit, The Representation Project. By 2023, she had charged the state $1.5 million for her “gender justice” movies. That’s a screaming example of a conflict of interest. If that’s not enough, the governor requested nonprofits and private corporations to contribute to his wife’s charity before taking their side on state issues.
“Newsom’s ‘The Representation Project’ was heavily criticized in 2019 for accepting $358,000 in donations from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), the utility company responsible for some of the state’s worst wildfires. PG&E is listed as an associate producer on two of Siebel Newsom’s films and hosted a screening of her first movie, Miss Representation, in 2011, when Gavin Newsom was mayor of San Francisco,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.
Open the Books previously reported that while the governor engaged in the highly unethical practice of soliciting 1,000 state vendors for $10.6 million in campaign cash, the first partner, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, solicited state vendors and the governor’s campaign donors for large gifts to her charity, The Representation Project.
But it gets even stranger – this is a job description from 2023 as a “Gender Equity Training Program Facilitator” at the Representation Project provided by a source:

Position Overview

This part-time role involves facilitating eight modules that cover media literacy, challenging harmful gender norms, mental health, healthy relationships, sex education, and advocacy for gender justice.

The Gender Equity Training Program Facilitator is a contracted part-time position based in Los Angeles.
This position also appears to be a violation of the 2019 Assembly Bill 5, one of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s signature pet projects, which killed off most independent contractor jobs in California.
The actual job application is surprising – the Representation Project asks applicants their age, gender identity, pronouns, race/ethnicity, and sexual orientation – most of which are legally prohibited in California on job applications.
The Globe submitted a California Public Records Act Request to LAUSD seeking documents and communications regarding The Representation Project, as well as for the position of “Gender Equity Training Program Facilitator.” We received an acknowledgment from LAUSD six days ago and will report back when LAUSD responds.
If you forgot what kind of movies the “First Partner” has been making, in 2023 the Globe reported on Siebel Newsom’s filmmaking scheme after Open the Books’ exposé:

Influence Watch reported “Between 2011 and 2023, the group has raised roughly $17,489,680 in revenue.”
“Auditors at OpenTheBooks.com watched Newsom’s movies and read the lesson plans. What we found was, at times, shocking: sexually explicit images, political boosterism, and something called ‘The Genderbread Person:’”
Siebel Newsom’s film The Mask You Live In, which features the website addresses of porn sites including Porn Hub, MassiveCams, BDSM.XXX, and Brazzers.com. The pornographic images displayed in the film are tagged with descriptions such as “domination,” “face fuck,” “kinky couples,” and “…dirty brunettes.”
“Siebel Newsom included images of naked or mostly naked women being slapped, handcuffed, and brutalized in pornographic videos. The pictures are graphic even when blurred. Screenshots of those scenes can be found HERE (VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED).” The movie claims it will show “how we, as a society, can raise a healthier generation of boys and young men,” and will help “shape the national conversation around healthy masculinity.”
The Globe watched the Misrepresentation Middle School movie as well. It’s a documentary, but it hammers strong feminist and “gender justice” messages for school kids ages 11-14:
- Women as sex objects
- Women/girls “in a disempowered position”
- Few female protagonists in movies
- women/girls portrayed as only seeking men, husbands, marriage, pregnancy
- boys should be trained to not be “hyper masculine” or “misogynistic”
- Middle school children are served images of upside-down strippers with little left to the imagination
- the “genderbread person,” who aims to show children how biological sex, “gender expression,” “sexual attraction,” and “gender identity” exist on a spectrum, which can be mixed and matched.
The movie is not age appropriate for Middle Schoolers, and really should not have any place in school curriculum. It is pure propaganda.
Open the Books also exposes lesson plans from The Representation Project which promote radical gender and sexuality messages:
While kindergarteners are spared the genderbread person in their curriculum, they are offered similar lessons on “gender identity,” introducing genders other than “boy” and “girl.”
