It’s Time to Vote: California’s Primary Election Tuesday June 7, 2022
Be sure to VOTE!
By Katy Grimes, June 4, 2022 8:42 am
By now, all active registered voters in California should have received a vote-by-mail ballot for the June 7, 2022, Primary Election.
Your Primary Election ballot will include candidates for U.S. Senate, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, Member of State Board of Equalization, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, U.S. Representative in Congress, State Senator, State Assembly Member, as well as other local candidates.
As the Globe reported in April, there are two contests for U.S. Senate on this ballot. You can vote for both contests.
-
- One for a 6-year term ending January 3, 2029; and
- One for the remainder of the current term ending January 3, 2023
You can fill out the ballot and mail it to your County Voter Registrar, or look up where to drop off your ballot on Election Day. Here is a listing of all of California’s County Elections Offices locations.
If you didn’t receive a ballot by mail, you can get a replacement ballot at a ballot drop off location or your county voter registrar’s office.
There are 25 candidates running for Governor, as well as Gov. Gavin Newsom, the incumbent. The entire list of candidates is listed below or you can click here to see all of them in the state: Certified List of Candidates (PDF)
Many counties include with your ballot a listing of ballot drop-off locations as well as a ballot tracking system. I prefer to take my ballot directly to the County Voter Registrar’s office on Election Day. Be sure to sign your ballot return envelope.
My County Voter Registrar, Sacramento, has links to other resources – so do most county voter offices:
In October 2020, I visited Sacramento County’s Voter Registraton and Election office to learn what happens after a mail-in ballot is dropped off. What I witnessed was a sophisticated production process replete with checks and double checks.
For more information, the California Secretary of State has a list of links, including the odd California Elections Rumor Control:

Sorry Shirley, I have a real problem with your “rumor control”. This flies in the face of the 1st Amendment and puts your office and your staff on a pedestal. Are we to believe that our government is not to be questioned? That the righteous people in the Secretary of States office are beyond reproach?
Shirley and her marionettists must be implementing Joseph Goebbels’ biography as “minister of public enlightenment and and propaganda” !
Keep your hands off of my 1st amendment!
We need a huge turnout of sensible people for the primary!
VOTE if you are one of those sensible people.
I can’t help but feel the outcome is predetermined. Does anybody else feel this way?
You’re not alone.
PLEASE VOTE. I’m not saying you haven’t voted, Waiting2inhale —- only talking to those out there who might be hesitant or somewhat dispirited, which is understandable. But we need a huge turnout to overcome any cheating that may occur. A lot of Repubs sat out the Gruesome Recall I heard. A million, I heard —- sure wish I could remember the source of that info. Imagine. We need the vote of every reasonable person in this state. Please make that small effort, good people. And we’ll see what happens….
Shirley N. Weber, …….. wait for it ……..PHD!
Well, that makes me feel better. Nothing to see here knowing we’re in PHD hands, especially LIBERAL ones.
Whaddak-hunt.
Voted IN PERSON last week. No drop off boxes. No mail-in. Don’t trust them.
You are a wise man, Abe…
After seeing “2000 Mules” I will never mail in a ballot or use a drop box, as both offer too many opportunities for bad actors to cheat…
In order to prevent vote malfeasance in the 805, we will be proudly casting our votes for Jeff Hargleroad, whose auditing and executive management skills will be relevant to improving voter roll accuracy and internal control procedures for ballot security and chain of custody.
Jeff jumped into the race when he learned of an inside succession plan hatched by the outgoing clerk and the Assistant Clerk…more evidence of shady politics in Ventura County.
More about Jeff’s executive leadership and qualifications can be found at http://www.jeff4clerk.com
I just want to let everyone know that Mark Messeur is running for U.S. Senator and as a candidate he is just so good that they just had to put his name on the ballot twice. 😉
Hopefully there is also a sting going on. For the last 50 years or so politicians have been placed not picked. As soon as we get a real president in California has to be investigated & people need to go to jail….Gavin Newsom murdered thousands of our elderly, stole unemployment to the tune of 10 BILLION PLUS, Keep the money for fire prevention didn’t spend one dime…..Newsom along with every democrat AND republican politicians needs to be indicted..
