President Trump Calls for Voter ID, Water Flows as Conditions in CA for Federal Wildfire Aid
How many cities, neighborhoods and houses have to burn down before the people start demanding that our priorities become the politicians priorities?

During his visit to Los Angeles Friday to view the damage from the wildfires, President Donald Trump announced two conditions in order to receive federal aid: voter ID laws and for the state to stop diverting water flows to the Pacific Ocean, and instead send Northern California water to the southern state.
“I want to see two things in Los Angeles. Voter ID, so that the people have a chance to vote, and I want to see the water be released and come down into Los Angeles and throughout the state,” Trump said. “Those are the two things. After that, I will be the greatest president that California has ever seen.”
California provides drivers licenses to illegal immigrants under Assembly Bill 1766, called “California ID’s For All,” authored by Assemblyman Mark Stone (D-Scotts Valley) and supported by Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Salinas), who claimed “Everyone deserves access to identification. This legislation moves us one step closer to true equity for our undocumented neighbors.”
Gov. Newsom signed AB 1766 into law September 23, 2022.
Is it any wonder California politicians don’t want Voter ID requirements?
California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office responded with a snarky fact-check claiming ID is required to prove citizenship, yet said that several other states do not require voter ID. Newsom’s office also said it is currently able to pump as much water as it could under Trump’s first-term policies.
FACT: Under current CA law you must be a CA resident and US citizen (and attest to being one under penalty of perjury) AND provide a form of ID such as driver’s license or passport that has been approved by the Secretary of State in order to register to vote. sos.ca.gov/elections/freq
FACT: 15 states do not generally require voter ID at polls, including Nevada and Pennsylvania (two states won by President Trump).
FACT: California pumps as much water now as it could under prior Trump-era policies.
Here’s a FACT: Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation in 2024 to make it illegal to require voter ID to vote in person – specifically, the law prevents local governments from requiring voters to present identification at the polls. The new law was in response to passage of the Huntington Beach voter ID requirement, notably approved by the city’s residents in March 2024, and upheld by a judge in November. It allows local officials to request that voters present ID at the polls and also increases polling locations and authorizes greater monitoring of drop boxes, the Globe reported.
Here’s another FACT: California is now the number one state to illegally cross into the United States. And why wouldn’t illegal aliens look to California – the first state to offer health insurance for all illegal immigrants, unemployment pay, and drivers licenses, and free education, and many layers of welfare benefits… illegal immigrants in California can apply for Disability Insurance (DI) and Paid Family Leave benefits, even if they do not have a Social Security number, according to the California EDD.
It’s only Democrat politicians who push for no voter ID to vote, who push for illegal aliens to have a valid ID, and who have allowed California’s water to flow to the ocean instead of to farmers and Central and Southern California cities.
“We like water to put out fires,” Trump said at his Los Angeles roundtable meeting Friday. “It’s really quite efficient,” he added.
Politicians from Governor Gavin Newsom, to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, to LA County Supervisors and LA City Council, have insisted that nothing could be done to put out the fires. Nitwits in the media are parroting the same ridiculous message.
But Mayor Bass cut the LA Fire Department budget by $17.6 million last year. She wanted to cut it by $23 million.
Gov. Newsom slashed roughly $150 million from Cal Fire’s wildfire prevention budget.
The state sends 80% of California’s water to the ocean in unimpaired flows for “environmental” purposes. And Governor Newsom took four dams down on the Klamath River recently.
These are the policies and politically-charged moves President Trump is focused on.
It was interesting how Gavin Newsom appeared so contrite in Trump’s presence as he said he needs the President’s help, but away from the president, he’s cocky and continues to obfuscate about the state’s water policies and voter ID requirements.
As do Democrat leaders.
It’s the federal funding Newsom wants, and apparently he will say and do anything to get it.
“Moments after setting aside 50 million taxpayer dollars to ‘Trump proof’ California, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas asks Trump not to play politics when it comes to California wildfire recovery aid,” Kevin Dalton accurately noted on X.
California’s Democrat supermajority Legislature is filled with elected politicians who have been raised as activists, rather than policy wonks who understand and appreciate proper, common sense governing.
These politicians are responsible for California’s terrible policies which have and continue to result in devastation, loss of property and loss of life. They prioritized “Trump Proofing” the state over fireproofing it. Rather than prioritizing hiding children’s gender transitioning from parents, they could have shown concern about California’s ridiculously high cost of living, which is exploding even higher on essentials like housing, food, utilities, gas and healthcare. Rather than scheming on ways to increase the state’s already highest taxes in the nation, they could have cut taxes and regulations. Rather than increasing gas taxes making our gas the highest priced in the country, they could have re-opened oil drilling and natural gas extraction, and removed the severe regulations and restrictions on the few remaining refineries in the state.
These are the priorities of the people of California. How many cities, neighborhoods and houses have to burn down before the people start demanding that our priorities become the politicians priorities?

Newsome is now in a bind. Does he commit political suicide and eliminate voter fraud in order to rebuild LA with federal funds or does he leave the fire victims in the lurch so he can continue business as usual stealing elections and destroying the state while enjoying the lifestyle of the rich and famous? If you were an evil, narcist, entitled fool what would you do?
Cheat to vote is out. Poor Gavin.
Trump continues to show he is a strong presence that actually stands for American’s rights. He demonstrated that very well yesterday in Los Angeles. Newsom tried to look like a tough guy on the tarmac as they battled for the stronger handshake, Trump won that machismo battle. Newsom rolled up his sleeves all for not. The king of platitudes and strange hand gestures was left looking like the eternal frat boy that he is. Full stop!
President Trump left Newsom stunned on the tarmac and left Karen Bass a stuttering mess by the end of the roundtable, she could only find a placid smile to make it through the meeting.
As long as Trump is on the side of the American citizen he will continue to win and therefore we the people will continue to win and prosper.
In the end common sense will win over esoteric ideas such as reimagining LA.
As Trump advised, let the people back on the properties to begin the process of rebuilding tonight! Everything has been incinerated for goodness sake!
Please remember he has a lot of experience in this area. He helped to rebuild New York after 9/11.
Trump is going to shortly and fully expose how elections have been stolen in the past and it goes further back than 2020. When this step is taken, we will all be surprised by the scope and depth of the steal. It will be Local offices, County offices, State offices, Federal offices and in other places around the world. Fraudulent office holders at all levels will be removed (some will be tried for treason) in short order after being exposed, laws that have been passed and signed by fraudulent office holders will be null and void. This exposure is going to shake our country free from the grip of the unelected insurgents that falsely occupy these offices. This exposure because of the sheer size and enormity will be nothing short of a miracle of God. It will be bigger than the splitting of the Red Sea in the book of Exodus.
Meanwhile, Melania deftly models the look admired around the galaxy (excecpt USA), the “No Fat Chicks” look…and she models it exquisitely well (unlike “Dr.” Jill, Big Mike, or Shrillary).
Yes, indeed John Schilling. Enjoy following the First Lady very much. Not only physically attractive, she speaks 5 languages as well. Apparently, she taught son Baron to speak Slovenian so that she and Baron can talk secretly in front of the President. 😉
As One Fed Up Cali Girl said, yesterday’s meeting in LA was another embarrassment for Gavin as he was not even present! But it began before Trump even exited the plane. His obviously coached wardrobe attempting to portray him as a high tech hipster ready to ride a beach cruiser down the Redondo Beach strand failed comically on the enormous tarmac of LAX as he appeared rather like a man child with his sleeves folded back who just lost his skateboard. The scene of Gavin waiting alone, beneath Air Force 1 at the bottom of the stairs in his failed crafted image was a telling moment in time. As I walked by the TV I found myself saying “wait, watch this moment, this is different”. I have never seen someone as important as a governor appear as stripped naked of the dignity he or she should portray in public, let alone greeting the most powerful man in the world. THAT WAS DIFFERENT! It was like Gavin’s version of Biden falling down the stairs on his way UP to Air Force 1, both sad failures with fancy titles and both witnessed by Air Force 1 and millions of Americans
@GoldCountryDude, those are very astute observations you have made.
Newsom acts as if he is serious about the challenges of California. He can’t hold a candle to President Trump who IS serious about the challenges we face as a state and as a country. It was all there for us to see. Newsom is a hustler, Trump is an accomplished executive.
I have a new nickname for our beleaguered Governor, “ Sleeves”.
He always roles up his sleeves to appear like he is getting to job done! Remember the underpass cleanup photo op? Sleeves rolled up…
I will take a blunt executive over a grandstanding weak kneed politician any day of the week.
🙂 Sleazy Sleeves.
😂that works.
I don’t know about these recent fires, but there has been at least one in the past where bulldozers used to cut fire breaks were held back, hand crews were sent in instead. Newsom disbanded some hand crews, which contributed to the lack of personnel to fight the recent fires. I didn’t see any video of it, but Newsom showing up on the tarmac to shamelessly beg Trump for recovery money, as I understand it, disgusts me. The first thing Newsom needs to do is to convert that $50 mil for “Trump proofing” the state and convert it to recovery from the wildfires – along with money for any other nonsense he’s cooking up. I’m going to contact my legislative representatives about it.
“I’m going to contact my legislative representatives about it.”
This is exactly what everyone needs to do Ralph Cardenas. Make it known that their days of ignoring the needs of California voters are over.
I echo all the comments above, but we have to think about if change will actually occur. President Trump took the first step in asking for voter ID and reformed water policies, but no way will Newsom and the legislature voluntarily comply, and the President will not deny aid to Americans. But by appointing a Special Master like Ric Grenell to oversee the distribution of the aid, and attacking voter ID through the efforts of Harmeet Dillon and the Civil Rights division of the DOJ, we might see some movement in the right direction. IMO the “Special Master” if competent and successful, could have the inside track for the Governor’s seat.
I agree Rod. With Ric Grenell managing the distribution of dollars there would be a much higher likelihood of success. He already knows where the voting irregularities are through the efforts of Fix California. Harmeet Dillon would be able to supply legal support and she is very familiar with the skeletons in the closets of politicians in Sacramento and other blue cities. She documented the ones related to the rise of Kamala’s political career in her discussion with Tucker Carlson during the election campaign last fall. Harmeet knows a lot about our Gruesome governor Newscum through her legal efforts in California, I am sure.
Exactly, Raymond!
I’m a little hazy on the history, but solution is the ballot initiative, the same thing that gutted the central pacific’s monopoly on Sacramento over a hundred years ago. But, the response has to be so big the registrar of voter’s office can’t rig the outcome – that is the real challenge in California. The CAGOP has to put “ballot initiative” in its dictionary of election terms.
California is blatantly not following federal law. Those responsible should prosecuted by the DOJ accordingly.
