UPDATED: Antifa and Black Lives Matter, along with other far left groups across the country, are promising there will be riots if Donald Trumps wins re-election, and challenger Joe Biden loses.
As Victoria Taft reports at PJ Media, “The ’Shut Down DC’ group, which is disappearing its web content faster than you can say antifa, implores its followers across the country to vote on ‘November 3rd. After You Vote, Hit the Streets!’ It appears that unrest, riots, and arson will happen anyway, regardless of what the polls say on Election Day. Just like every day in Portland.”
Sacramento Black Lives Matter, which has wreaked havoc in downtown Sacramento during their protests and riots, recently announced they were planning on providing gun training to their members. Yet they also call for defunding the police. So while they are arming themselves and getting gun training, the police are supposed to be neutered?
Sacramento’s downtown business district looks like a Depression-era city, with most small businesses shut down and still boarded up from previous riots. Some businesses are operating with boarded up windows and doors in anticipation of more riots.
“The Founder of BLM Sacramento put a message out on the group’s Facebook page asking for sponsors to pay for 10 people to get firearm training,” CBS Sacramento reported. “The money would go towards anyone in the black community that is looking to sign up to learn about gun safety. The course would cover teaching everything from how to hold, clean, safely store and shoot a gun.”
“I want us to be independent from the system and I want us to be educated and informed on what we are doing,” Tanya Faison, head of Sacramento BLM explained.
“As Black folks, we have learned that we are running out of resources when it comes to being protected,” the fundraiser launched by BLM Sacramento founder Tanya Faison reads. “Police are killing us. White nationalists are threatening us,” The News Armed quoted BLM on their Facebook page.
“Faison says gun education has nothing to do with their protest efforts, but she feels a necessary step for protection in situations including someone breaking into your home or attacks from white supremacists, for those who choose to apply for a concealed carry license.”
Most Sacramento residents would likely be supportive of community members learning gun safety to be able to protect themselves. But not many are buying BLM Sacramento’s story that their intent is altruistic, given all of the recent riots, protests and violance, as well as their calls to defund the police.
Black Lives Matter has even formed a Political Action Committee, as Politico reported. “On the heels of nearly six months of nationwide demonstrations that sparked an international movement against systemic racism and police violence, Black Lives Matter is expanding its influence into politics by forming a political action committee — a highly unusual move for a grassroots organizing group with no central leadership.”
“Beverly Hills business owners have been told to board up their windows by the local police department, as officials expect rioting throughout Los Angeles following the presidential election results, according to the DailyMail.com. “The notice also stated that no businesses should be operating ‘out of safety for the community and business patrons’ during the road closure.”
Radicals on the left have also vowed to riot and protest, and “swarm” their targets if the Trump campaign challenges election results or calls for a recount in any of the states.
We’re likely safe on that front in California, but it likely won’t take much to incite these groups on Election Night, and for weeks after the election. Also concerning could be voters who wait until Election Day (as I do) to deliver their ballots in person to official polling stations, being interfered with.
And with the AP claiming Antifa and BLM rioters look just like “regular citizens caught up in the moment — many are young suburban adults,” other “regular citizens” have nothing to fear but a bunch of worked-up kids acting out, and caught up in the moment.
As law enforcement groups recommend, assess your own risk, but be aware and be smart. Police chiefs around the country are extending shifts in anticipation of riots.
That we are having this discussion should signal to everyone just how important this election is: Do we want police defunded, and BLM and Antifa thugs roaming city streets, threatening law abiding citizens, or do we want the rule of law to return to blue states like California?
