Gov. Gavin Newsom and California Department of Public Health Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly just issued new stay-at-home orders and a curfew for the State of California, effective Nov. 21st through December 21st, for the 41 counties in the restrictive purple tier.
“Non-essential businesses and personal gatherings are prohibited between 10 PM and 5 AM beginning Saturday, November 21 at 10 PM,” the statement says.
Does the virus go dormant after 10:00PM?
Calling it a “limited Stay at Home Order,” the CDPH says this is justified because of an “unprecedented rate of rise in increase in COVID-19 cases across California,” the CDPH is taking “immediate actions to prevent the spread of the virus.”
Notably, Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones also issued a statement Thursday stating that the Sheriff’s office will not be enforcing Governor Gavin Newsom’s holiday “gatherings” orders to stay home or his curfew.
As the Globe reported Monday, Gov. Newsom announced that California was “pulling an emergency brake” on reopening because of rising COVID “positivity” cases. Not deaths. And he did a soft-sell on hospitalizations. Newsom admitted that California is nowhere near the national average on “positivity” or hospitalizations, but said he’s still moving 41 California counties back into restrictive tiers.
The order says:
“In light of an unprecedented, rapid rise in COVID-19 cases across California, Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today announced a requiring generally that non-essential work, movement and gatherings stop between 10 PM and 5 AM in counties in the purple tier. The order will take effect at 10 PM Saturday, November 21 and remain in effect until 5 AM December 21. This is the same as the March Stay at Home Order, but applied only between 10 PM and 5 AM and only in purple tier counties that are seeing the highest rates of positive cases and hospitalizations.”
As the Globe reported Tuesday, What the governor has done is ordered the fastest increase in testing California residents for coronavirus, and the commensurate positive test results.
Gavin Newsom ordered the rapid increase in testing, and even spent more than $100 million to open a lab in Los Angeles to process the tests.
The Governor’s order continues:
“The virus is spreading at a pace we haven’t seen since the start of this pandemic and the next several days and weeks will be critical to stop the surge. We are sounding the alarm,” said Governor Newsom. “It is crucial that we act to decrease transmission and slow hospitalizations before the death count surges. We’ve done it before and we must do it again.”
“This limited Stay at Home Order is designed to reduce opportunities for disease transmission. Activities conducted during 10 PM to 5 AM are often non-essential and more likely related to social activities and gatherings that have a higher likelihood of leading to reduced inhibition and reduced likelihood for adherence to safety measures like wearing a face covering and maintaining physical distance.”
Claiming that stay-at-home lockdowns work, Dr. Ghaly said:
“We know from our stay at home order this spring, which flattened the curve in California, that reducing the movement and mixing of individuals dramatically decreases COVID-19 spread, hospitalizations, and deaths,” said California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly. “We may need to take more stringent actions if we are unable to flatten the curve quickly. Taking these hard, temporary actions now could help prevent future shutdowns.”
- The governor has put more than 94 percent of California’s population in the most restrictive tier.
- The governor ordered beefing up the face covering guidance to require individuals to wear a mask whenever outside their home, with limited exceptions.
- The governor issued a travel advisory, along with Oregon and Washington, urging people entering the state or returning home from travel outside the state to self-quarantine, and also warned against non-essential out-of-state travel, asks people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country, and encourages residents to stay local.
What Totalitarian country is this? Forced business closures, countywide lockdowns, stay-at-home orders, mandatory mask-wearing outside, a 10:00PM curfew, limiting holiday gatherings with family and friends in private homes, while Gov. Newsom and his wife attended a large birthday dinner party in Napa Valley violating his own restrictions?

OMG, if only we had known that the illusive Covid19 comes out between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. we could have avoided the pandemic.! How many lives over the age of 75 and in nursing homes could we have saved sooner? Darn old folks they sneak out and party all night! ????????????
Seriously it gets more ridiculous! Newsom and his cronies must have concocted this new form of control while sippin’ on Silver Oak and munching on 800.00 dollar bites at the French Laundry. After all, most of his dining partners were from the California Medical Association.

Why isn't the great Governor of California on tv announcing this, telling us how awful this is and to follow his lead? He has Dr Ghaly doing his dirty work? Does he think the guidelines announced by another person will make us forget his lies and his lack of concern for exposure to COVID? Then threaten with "further restriction." What a p***y! So let me get this straight. I have to wear a mask when I'm outside, I can't socialize with family members and people I know in my home, and I can't be outside past 10 p.m. But it's perfectly alright for this piece of $&#@ excuse for a governor to go to a $350 (minimum) per plate restaurant, ignore the mask mandate, ignore social distancing, talk loudly at the table, all the while with people in the medical profession at this extravagant restaurant totally disregarding the draconian rules he expects us to follow!
