Greenberg: San Francisco Must Abandon DEI
New SF Mayor Daniel Lurie should do the right thing

The flurry of executive orders signed these past 48 hours since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President has been breathtaking. And in his desire to rein in not only astounding lapses in judgement (and malice) by ousted Biden and his regime enabling a porous border, gender confusion, antisemitism and transnational drug distribution, the slap in the face to MLK Jr’s legacy by DEI is about to be quashed.
In July of 2019, the now former San Francisco mayor London Breed (who herself mimicked much of Biden’s policies) together with members of our Board of Supervisors (the city council) proudly proclaimed the passage of city legislation creating the “Office of Racial Equity.” The purpose is to address so-called “structural racism” and lack of racial equity.
Yes, many of us were confused. Confusion turned into concern. And with such Office established came its own flood of rules, requirements and demands to bow down to the cult of identity politics. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (a most deceptive and manipulative phrase, it seems) was then codified into city policy.
Every city department, agency and office were required to not only develop and implement a Racial Equity Action Plan to segregate out Whites and Asians by putting them on a back burner, but to place such anti-Asian/Caucasian (and race quota) sentiment extended to hiring, promotions and performance evaluations. Outside contractors seeking to do business with the City are required to certify meeting race/gender equity plan rules. And all legislation proposals submitted by the city council must be reviewed for adherence to DEI principles.
Across the nation, we witnessed the results in San Francisco and beyond: State-sponsored racism.
So, Trump is now in office, and as we witnessed his ceremonially signing executive order after executive order (over 200 so far)- it is abundantly clear he is acutely aware of the outrageous and unconstitutional nature of judging Americans by the color of their skin. Numerous executive orders immediately addressed DEI amid rampant infiltration far and wide. With Trump’s signature, within hours, the federal government had already begun shutting DEI offices, removing DEI policy from websites, and furloughing Equity Officers. The damage to our country is immense, and Trump sprang do action to start undoing the harm.
San Francisco’s parallel, the Office of Racial Equity, must be shuttered. As of today, however, there is no political will to do so. Former mayor Breed would not tackle the issue, of course – she instigated it. Most of the 11-member Board of Supervisors similarly (or even more passionately) actually support discrimination which favors people of color. A natural digression of DEI is Breed’s pet project, the Dream Keeper Initiative. She established it, proudly, then diverted all-important law enforcement funding to give to Black-only initiatives.
And as outlandish and clearly unconstitutional this all is, nobody challenged it.
Daniel Lurie is San Francisco’s new mayor, and was sworn-in a mere 2 weeks ago. A political outsider, he is sure to understand the value of merit and excellence and earning a place through hard work, earning an advancement. His business acumen was touted throughout his campaign, justifying to city voters why we should select him come Election Day. Yet, as of now, he has been silent on DEI.
San Francisco is a complex microcosm. Alliances are crucial, and Lurie is walking on eggshells. He’s done very little publicly, from a policy standpoint, instead opting to do hourly Instagram video posts showing him in all corners of the city, chatting with shop owners, meeting with neighborhood organizations and riding the bus. So far, Lurie is marking time. Residents are tired, exhausted, and want change. One significant action he can do, and must do, is follow the federal orders to shut down the city’s unconstitutional Office of Racial Equity, now.

Lurie is a liberal Democrat and he inherited his wealth from his stepfather. He’s never run anything except his local nonprofit which supposedly fights poverty. It’s debatable how successful that is given the chronic homeless problem and the huge income disparity in the city? He might even be a member of the WEF globalist deep-state and the Khazarian Mafia? Don’t expect him to stray from the radical leftist ideology that is deeply entrenched in the city?
