Town Council Votes to Make Oroville, CA Constitutional Republic City
‘A Constitutional Republic makes America a successful nation’

Unhappy with overreaching governmental policies such as the COVID-19 mask mandate, the Oroville City Council voted Tuesday to make Oroville a constitutional republic city, because the council and supporters said they believe citizens have rights under the U.S. Constitution to make their own decisions about their health.

MSN reported:
Mayor Chuck Reynolds said that a republic is what the city is under. People and representatives make decisions for the community. “We are living under a constitutional republic,” he said.
Reynolds also said that attention should be paid to the language. When a state is declared an emergency, it puts one person in charge and we should pay attention to who that person is.
“Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts,” Reynolds said. “A constitutional republic makes America a successful nation. Rights are by the people, for the people.”
Oroville was established as the head of navigation on the Feather River to supply gold miners during the California Gold Rush. Oroville is considered the gateway to Lake Oroville and Feather River recreational areas. The pioneer spirit has always been present in the foothill community.
Most people remember Oroville for the broken spillway of the state-owned and operated Oroville Dam. In February 2017 two spillways of the 770-foot-tall dam began crumbling under very heavy rain and snowmelt, threatening to flood towns down stream along the Feather River, leaving 180,000 people only an hour’s notice to escape.
America has been a Constitutional Republic since 1789, which is a system of laws to protect citizens and contain government.
The Heritage Foundation explains:
“America is a republic and not a pure democracy. The contemporary efforts to weaken our republican customs and institutions in the name of greater equality thus run against the efforts by America’s Founders to defend our country from the potential excesses of democratic majorities. American republicanism and the ordered liberty it makes possible are grounded in the Federalists’ recognition that non-majoritarian parts of the community make legitimate contributions to the community’s welfare, and that preserving these contributions is the hallmark of political justice. But, the careful balance produced by our mixed republic is threatened by an egalitarianism that undermines the social, familial, religious, and economic distinctions and inequalities that undergird our political liberty. Preserving the republican freedoms we cherish requires tempering egalitarian zeal and moderating the hope for a perfectly just democracy.
A “democracy is run by people and republic is run by the laws of constitution.”
Mayor Chuck Reynolds and the Oroville town council seems very clear on the issue.

Happy to see this from the City of Oroville!
It didn’t stick…..they have no authority to make this decision….it’s a big stunt so they get reelected
Comrade
Freedom comes in many forms….from grey markets to nullification……
Oroville has not been polluted by the technocrats of silicon valley.
We are a constitutional republic but that has not been taught to the woke generation for the last 30 years.
It is never to late to learn:

So now what? State law have Sovernty over counties and cities. Federal law has Sovernty over states. Oroville will still have to obey laws handed down by Feds and State. It means nothing. Educated yourself idoits
They voted to make Fed and State CDC Covid design changes in Emergency Office lobby upgrades at 1.6 million dollars just the same breath in the moments before they rejected accepting Government mandates
How is it then, that the state of Kalifornia can simply ignore Federal immigration laws and declare itself a sanctuary state and then refuse to hand over illegal Mexicans to the Feds for deportation?
Exactly!!
desperate town council. remember the mayor and sheriff are blm kneelers. remember the evacuation of sacramento valley during the spillway failure. no one fired, no drug testing, no consequences and no accountability. remember the town council went belly up when state started its covid mandates after reassuring community they would stand with the community. they are desperate to be relevant for the next election cycle. people are pissed and there will be consequences. my hope is we elect a dumber version of judas, some people with no experience in law or politics. elect people who refuse to show up for work. we be better off with no functioning representation. a dysfunctional government is a friend of freedom.
coming to a town near you.

19-Year-Old Wins NJ School Board Seat Following ‘Awful’ COVID-19 Shutdowns
By Jack Phillips
November 5, 2021 Updated: November 5, 2021
A 19-year-old who recently graduated high school defeated an incumbent candidate for a school board in New Jersey on Tuesday, telling local media that he believes he won because of the school board’s COVID-19-related school lockdowns.
Nicholas Seppy, a 2020 graduate from Egg Harbor Township High School, defeated incumbent school board member Terre Alabarda by 17 percentage points. With 100 percent of precincts reporting as of Wednesday, Seppy had obtained 4,042 votes to Alabarda’s 2,830.
“I aspire to set a positive example for our district. [Egg Harbor Township] shall have an excellent reputation, in both our standard of education and our efficient process of our budget,” he wrote on Instagram. “I would like to thank all who have supported me over these past two years, without you none of this would have ever been possible.”
But Seppy told The College Fix that he believes the school lockdowns propelled him to victory, saying the closures were the reason why he ran for office in the first place.
Oroville population around 20,000 has had over 6000 COVID cases.
Jokes on you, it’ll just help your dying town die faster
Also, they take 5 mil in COVID relief funds.
I bet most of the denizens don’t even see why that’s funny 😀
Anons are pathetic, use your name or you are weak 🙂
taco thinks he has freedom of speech if he uses his real name. why dont you try anon taco, see how you like it. is the information highway everything you imagined? do you like being bombarded by ads and answering your never ending supply of robo calls. do you enjoy the handpicked search engine results made specifically for you. do you think if you play along they may come up with something that is beneficial to your life. if so, please continue. if not, then try anon.
They are laughing at you so hard over in the comments section at the link. Gonna have fun being your own country, going through border checks to enter the US outside town, no state or federal support or services. Have fun! https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2021/11/5/2062544/-Small-town-in-California-declares-itself-free-of-federal-state-rule-as-a-constitutional-republic#comment_82203690
thanks for the interesting read. nice to see another anon. i guess the kos commenters missed the part about eminenet failure of oroville dam spillway and the evacuation of sacramento valley. i realize its hard to imagine, but dam failure means a 10 foot wall of water in sacramento. clean sweep from oroville to sacramento. its a very serious, sobering thought. please consider some facts. butte county (oroville) is a water contractor, water contractors pay for the operations and maintenance of the state water project (oroville dam). oroville dam creates the first pool of the state water project lake oroville. the state water project runs the state lengthwise to provide water to downstream communities. the dam was contstructed to prevent the flooding of the sacramento valley the provision of water and electricity is secondary for obvious reasons. the state water project and other pieces of infrastructure are old and require constant maintenance. the maintenance is so overwhelming the maintenance/rebuild is done after failure. its called breakdown maintenance. i.e. spillway failure, destruction of thermalito powerplant, plenty of other accidents if you care to research. please consider the fragility of the situation. these facility’s must be governed by no nonsense, rugged individuals who bear the weight of protecting every person who lives downstream. anything else can be an epic failure for millions of people. spillway failure and destruction of thermalito powerplant are warnings of whats to come if someone doesnt make a stand. oroville is making a stand for infrastructure! you should be thankful, as it may save your life.
Ya, and what about the fires. And the cleanup, all the good people that have supported these efforts only for people to not take a vaccine or want to wear masks cause they have confused liberty with conceit. Way to take care of each other Oroville. The critical and strategic thinkers leave for the cities, that’s why you hate urban areas so much. You’re what’s left when they have gone. People have failed you over COVID. It should have been messaged better, . But who cares what an old Paradisian says, they mainly don’t exist anymore but what we hold in our hearts. (i was one before the town burned due to people not following regulations on yard fuel, national and state services being gutted, and global climate change). So have fun with gutting more safety regs, keep the poor as poor as possible, and keeping your pride before compassion.
are you saying the critical thinkers departed before: the near complete destruction of paradise by fire, the near complete destruction of berry creek, the near complete destruction of thermalito powerplant, the near complete destruction of oroville spillway, the destruction of hyatt powerplant river valves. i mean come on. when are we going to drug test and fire those critical thinkers. Its obvious to me a slow poke hillbilly that our experts are not doing any critical thinking. I dont believe the critical thinkers are capable of forest managment and infrastructure managment. i surely do not believe they are capable of the well being of anyone or anything regarding a pandemic. you seem to think oroville community has limitless tolerance for negligence and incompetence.
Sadly, we live under a representative democracy which means we don’t self-govern. We elected _representatives_ to enact laws under which we all agree to live under and abide.
The problem occurs when corporations and oligarchs hijack this process at the electoral level: they vet, then publicize the names of _their_ chosen handmaidens. Due to this publicity, the person with the most name or image-recognition tends to win (or wins outright) an election. Result? Corporations and oligarchs get representation, not voters on Main Street. “Vote for millionaires (or their lackeys) and only millionaires will get representation.” What’s so hard about this to understand?
Be well.
Sadly the people of Oroville have elected idiots who do not understand the Supremacy clauses in both the US Constitution AND the California Constitution.
Article VI section 2 of the US Constitution:
“This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.”
Article XI, Section 7 of California’s constitution:
“A county or city may make and enforce within its limits all local, police, sanitary, and other ordinances and regulations not in conflict with general laws.”
So a useless declaration that ironically reinforces the supremacy of federal and state laws over local laws.
This was a waste of time…to make a city separate from the rest you have to appear in front of a court not just hold a town meeting..this makes me ill that people are so gullible to think this is even possible…I live in Oroville and nothing has changed…some places still require a mask but some dont…I really think this was just a scam to make sure these council members get votes in again…desperation at its best
