President Trump’s Whirlwind Trip to California; Media and Elected Democrats Denounce Visit
Trump notices the homeless epidemic, demands cities clean it up… or else…

President Donald Trump traveled to California last week and California’s left, the media, and elected Democrats went crazy, and denounced his visit.
The headlines from California news outlets were predictable:

- SDUT: In San Diego, Trump praises border wall, rallies supporters, provokes outrage
- AP: Trump threatens EPA action against San Francisco
- AP: No truce: Trump keeps up feud with California during visit

James Lacy and I co-wrote the book, “California’s War With Donald Trump: Who Wins? Who Loses?” in 2017.
By all appearances, the state is losing its war with Donald Trump, right along with the media, which can’t seem to objectively report on this president or his administration.
Good News/Bad News/Good News
The economy is healthy once again, and President Trump’s tax cuts have dramatically helped the middle and working classes. The United States has the lowest unemployment rate now in 50 years for blacks, Hispanics, women, the disabled, and even for people without a high school diploma. Since Trump’s election, the economy has grown 3.2 percent for the first time in 20 years – something most people celebrate.
The “feud” the Bee claims Trump has with California incorrect: California is at war with the President, and has been since Nov. 8, 2016. Elected California Democrat legislators declared war on the newly elected president even before he was sworn in, and vowed to “fight in the streets” anyone who tried to “dissolve the work we have done,” if Trump rolled back regulations implemented by Barack Obama’s administration.
Other examples of the war on Trump:
- California Attorney General Xavier Becerra has filed 60 lawsuits against the Trump administration.
- Gov. Gavin Newsom called out Trump in his first State of the State address. This week Newsom jabbed at the President in a statement: “President Trump’s administration continues to wage war against common-sense laws and policies, and in this case, his attacks may threaten the retirement security of millions of low-income California workers.” Newsom’s statement was just one of many jabs aimed at the President during his visit to the West Coast.
- The California Legislature passed an unconstitutional bill to try to force Trump to disclose his tax returns in order to be listed on California’s Primary Election Ballot.
- The California Legislature passed a ‘Trump Resistance’ bill which actually threatens California’s water supply, preemptively freezing water and clean air regulations to the final day of the Obama administration, and expiring on the final day of Trump’s administration. The bill creates additional “environmental” regulations limiting water for humans, and instead providing more flows to the Pacific Ocean for fish. It’s a thumb in the eye of the Trump EPA which is loosening water regulations.
These are just a few examples of California’s war with Donald Trump. However, there are plenty of common sense Californians and Trump supporters who appreciate any support he offers. Along with his calls for cities to clean up and address the homeless epidemic — which is not a partisan issue as everyone is impacted by it — many in California are just fine with President Trump calling out the ineffective city leaders whose cities are overrun with filth and disease because of the thousands of drug addicts, mentally ill vagrants, and criminals.
The $15 million Trump raised in just two days in the Golden State shows his supporters are serious about his presidency, as well as his policies and regulatory overhaul.
Economist Stephen Moore said Trump’s booming economy has created a labor market “to get more businesses investing as a way to lift wages, because for 20 years, wages have not really budged up for middle class workers.”
Moore said President Trump is most proud of the wage gains that have happened as a consequence of the booming economy … “the biggest wage gains, have been to the people at the lower-income rungs of the economic scale. And so, we’ve actually reduced income inequality because we’ve created a very tight labor force and … low-income workers now have an opportunity to ask for higher wages – even in California.”
