As Governor Newsom ‘Proclaims California’s 175th Anniversary’ Remind Him Decline is a Choice
How can a governor succeed in chasing out 500 companies unless he is incompetent, malevolent and vainglorious?

September 9, 2025 is California’s 175th Anniversary. This should be a momentous occasion in which we all celebrate all what the Golden State has to offer its residents and visitors, except we are a state in decline.
Decline is a choice.
California Governor Gavin Newsom proclaimed Tuesday “California’s 175thAnniversary” claiming:
“Throughout U.S. history, the Golden State has been a leader in realizing the American Dream, leading both by example and by influence. Today, California remains a beacon of endless possibilities, defined by its enduring promise of reinvention, discovery, and freedom.”
The correct statement is that up until about the early 1990’s, the Golden State was a leader in realizing the American Dream. California has been in decline much longer, but the decline has been accelerated by years of incompetent and malevolent, vainglorious Democrat governors: Gray Davis (1999-2003 recalled), Jerry Brown (1975-1983 & 2011-2019 termed out) and Gavin Newsom (2019-2026).
Decline is a choice.
Newsom continues:
“Today, California remains a beacon of endless possibilities, defined by its enduring promise of reinvention, discovery, and freedom.”
California once was a beacon of endless possibilities. Through the 1980’s, anyone with an innovative idea and a strong work ethic could open a business. Today, one must ask for permission from the state to open a business, and then suffer through dozens of permitting requirements, permitting mandates, permitting reviews, licensing, inspectors, fees, environmental reviews, inspections, more licensing and permitting…
In 2009, I researched what it would take to open a small manufacturing business in Sacramento. I found that 22 city, county, state and federal government agencies would be involved in permitting and licensing, and would take about three years.
California’s “endless possibilities” days are past.
Decline is a choice.
Newsom said:
“California is the 4th largest economy in the world.”
California owns the 4th largest economy in the world, but the governor leaves out some important details, like California has the highest poverty and homelessness in the nation, high crime, highest unemployment, highest taxes, highest gas prices, highest housing costs, highest number of illegal aliens, highest number of welfare recipients, and a $1.3 trillion total budget deficit, just for starters. And, California is the 1st most regulated state in the U.S.
California reached the 4th largest economy in the world, not because of Newsom’s great leadership or brilliant economic policy, but because Japan’s economy fell by 4.4%, bumping California up.
“While California enjoys a high GDP, it dissipates the effective purchasing power through high and increasing costs of living,” the California Center for Jobs and the Economy reports.
California may be leading the nation – off the cliff into 3rd world status, especially as Newsom’s and Democrat’s policies have pushed out some of California’s greatest businesses.
In April 2024, Edward Ring of the California Policy Center (and CA Globe contributor) and Steve Hilton, founder of Golden Together and gubernatorial candidate, reported that “since 2020, over 500 companies have either left California completely, or opted to expand their operations in a different state while shrinking their operations here. The list includes scores of household name companies: Aerojet, Aligent, AirBNB, Alphabet (Google), Amazon, Amgen, and Apple, and that’s just the As. It spans the gamut from high-tech and aerospace, to energy (Chevron) and civil engineering (Bechtel), to arts and entertainment (Academy of Country Music, Disney).”
Gavin Newsom has never once explained why California businesses and residents are fleeing to other states. It appears that he really does not care about anyone except Gavin Newsom.
Decline is a choice.
How can a governor succeed in chasing out 500 companies unless he is incompetent, malevolent and vainglorious: excessively proud of oneself, elated by vanity, and boastful?
Examining other governors, “Decline is a choice” becomes even more evident. Texas does not suffer with deterioration, downturn, failure, recession, slump, or weakening under Governor Greg Abbott.
Florida doesn’t experience decay, decrepitude, degeneracy, degeneration, under Gov. Ron DeSantis. Rather, Texas and Florida, together with Tennessee, Indiana, Wyoming, Arizona, Arkansas and other red states are welcoming to California’s departed businesses and residents with much lower taxes, fewer regulations, and much less government.
Gavin Newsom’s 2:28 minute campaign speech today, thinly veiled as the State of the State, certainly doesn’t address the decline of California, nor does it reveal anything of substance. His pre-recorded speech sounded more like a tourism commercial. The speech is typically given before both houses of the state legislature sitting in joint session, with media present.
What is Gavin hiding from?
Decline is a choice.

There have been SO MANY last straws with this guy, the Worst Governor Ever, Gavin Newsom, that I can hardly stand to look at him, or hear him, or follow what he is doing any more. “Decline is a choice,” all right, and this destructive jerk sure as heck knows EXACTLY how to choose to sink California deeper and deeper into the muck every day. After all, he has the knowledge and the experience and he’s going for it. Apparently! He’s been doing it for decades! I guess he thinks it will benefit him, but how? Let’s finally put our cards on the table, Gavin. How do YOU win by destroying US?
Destroying us is the win. This game is much bigger than Newsom. It is for who will be the dominate world power. Newsom is like any other rat who is willing to sell his soul and anybody else to continue climbing up the power rung. He had an up-close seat on the Bidens mental decline (I wonder what he knew and when he know it). Newsom saw how Obama was swept into the presidency approximately 12 years after entering into his first political office. Newsom has awards from the World Economic Forum which has sights on controlling the world activity; Newsom is in tight with China whose goal is the destruction of America and world domination. The key phrase to me is “defined by its enduring promise of reinvention,” we have been witnessing a constant Democratic reinvention for the 25 years or so and it has led to a death spiral. If we did not have past instances where the nation has been in a death spiral before this would be a very bleak situation. I find hope in the fact that America has overcome similar situations by God’s never-ending grace that he freely gives to all of us through His Son Jesus Christ. Without that grace it would truly be a hopeless situation.
Well, my question was meant rhetorically, first of all. But do you really think Newsom’s plan for world domination (which is laughable) will succeed and that, even if it did somehow, that would be a “win?” Sounds like a loss to me. Which is fitting, because the guy is a LOSER.
I agree that Newsom is a loser and no I don’t believe that Newsom is capable of world domination (although the people that he is trying to impress might be seeking the destruction of the USA). I do believe that Newsom is willing to do what it takes to keep advancing his career even if everything goes to mush for the people that he is supposedly serving. Every basic service that ordinary Californians rely on a daily basis has gotten worse under his watch. You can count on that every legislation that he signs and champions has a negative consequence for everyday Californians.
Because the CCP & other globalists pay handsomely???
How does being known for doing the bidding of the Chinese Communist Party and being paid handsomely for it constitute a “win” for an American governor whose heart has been set on winning the Presidency of the United States for as long as we (and he) can remember? How do you think that’s going to work out for him? With a “win?” Don’t think so. But IF he were to achieve his Dream of Hell and being fully joined at the hip with the CCP, I don’t consider that a “win” anyway. Certainly not for Americans, but not for Newsom, either.
After this much destruction created under Newsoms administration you have to wonder is the chance or is there a bigger scheme?
In reponse to Newsom’s Prop 50 gerrymandering, we are stepping up our search for “greener pastures” OUTSIDE of California….
Way to go, “Governor”….
“DECLINE IS A CHOICE!”
Katy you hit another home-run!
Sadly, it does not feel like a celebration to me.
I am a second generation Californian. The eighties were awesome and full of promise.
Currently, from city to city I see so much despair up and down this once golden state.
It is a planned destruction.
Happy 175th Anniversary California. Hurray to the Cowboys, goldminers, builders, farmers, long shore men and small businesses, who made this state what it once was. The politicians have ruined a good thing!
Newsom, may you reap what you sow…
There probably isn’t too much despair in uber wealthy Marin County where Hair-gel Hitler Newsom and his sleazy Weinstein trollop “First Partner” live in their multi-million dollar mansion protected by 24/7 armed security paid for by taxpayers? As of October 21, 2024, the voter registration breakdown in Marin County was 62.36% Democratic, 18.00% Republican, and 20.00% No Party Preference. Marin County has consistently been one of the most Democratic counties in California, ranking second only to San Francisco in the percentage of registered Democrats. Grifting and grafting by the criminal Democrat thug mafia has found a home there?
@One Fed Up Cali Girl, You are so right. This state was once a state of promise, which has been replaced by despair.
I did not hear a single reference to, nor reaffirmation of an unconstitutional sanctuary.
I think this is what Newsom meant to say.
“Throughout U.S. history, the Golden State has been a leader in realizing the American Dream, but we have almost completed our work at shutting down that dream. For instance, I just signed a bill to add a Vehicle Miles Tax for new housing construction. To kill the American Dream for those who achieved it, I also signed bills that ban single family home zoning throughout the entire state, and to stack renters in every neighborhood with no environmental controls. So you can kiss that American Dream goodbye here in California. My dream is not your dream.”
Signed,
Gavin Newsom’s Alter Ego
Excellent Chautauqua, Protect Freedom! done
Gavin Newscum is a vile, lying, cheating, crooked, slimy SOB snake-oil salesman. Never believe a word that comes out of that dirt-bags mouth.
Newsom is deliberately ruining California! He needs to be dragged before a tribunal and be held accountable for his many crimes against humanity. He and his wretched soul have a lot to account for!
Maybe this would be a first step in that direction? Sure hope Sens Ron Johnson, Rick Scott, et al, know what Newsom is all about, including his habit of lying. He’d be under oath, though, whether making a voluntary appearance or under subpoena, as I understand it. We’ll see..

I agree with everyone above! Thank you fellow Californias. I want OUT OF HERE but cannot do it on my own w/o help due to health and age issues. There are no words to say about how much I want and Need to leave even though I was born in this state I do NOT want to be forced to die here.
