Billionaires Spending $50M on ‘Republican Voters Against Trump’ Campaign

‘President Joe Biden’s administration has been a bit refreshing’

By Katy Grimes, March 13, 2024 8:36 am

I received an email Tuesday from a group calling itself “Republican Voters Against Trump,” just as former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden clinched their parties’ presidential nominations.

If times were sane, this might be seen as frivolous or silly. But the $50 million backing the group is not.

I wondered where the $50M came from for the PAC… So I went to the website where they claim, “Republican Voters Against Trump will feature more than 100 video testimonials of Trump’s own voters making the case against him in key swing states.”

The website has a bot-like feel to it. The testimonials page has real hard-hitting proclamations like this one from “Beth:

“January 6th, for me, was kind of like a sucker punch.”

Hank says:

“I don’t think that the man has the moral character required to function in the Oval office.”

Dave says:

“I am a conservative Republican, but I cannot stand the lying, the cheating, the illegal activities that Trump has perpetuated.”

Staci says:

“Trump stating that he wants to overturn the Constitution should be clanging bells and alarms for everyone in this nation.”

Sounds deeply thoughtful, right?

RVAT claims “Donald Trump proved during his time in office and since why he is unfit to be President of the United States. Even those who have voted for him in the past realize just how dangerous a second Trump presidency would be.”

I did a quick search on Tony Franquiz, the communications rep who sent the email, and he’s also with “The Society for the Rule of Law” along with George Conway, Judge J. Michael Luttig, et. al. and a host of Bush acolytes – “former elected officials and high-ranking appointees who served in the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.”

The Society for the Rule of Law said its mission is to protect the Constitution and the rule of law against rising threats posed by illiberal forces in our society, without regard to political party or partisan affiliation.” They have an upcoming speaking event with John Bolton, and appear to be Nikki Haley supporters.

This feels a little bit like a shadow government group, upset that they aren’t running anything any longer in government. And they clearly know if Trump wins, not one of them will be working anywhere near Washington D.C.

I wasn’t the only reporter curious about this group.

“An anti-Trump group backed by billionaires Reid Hoffman, Seth Klarman and John Pritzker is launching a $50 million ad campaign featuring disaffected Trump voters,” Sara Dorn with Forbes reports.

Forbes reports on the billionaires:

Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn and a prolific Democratic donor, is one of the Republican Accountability PAC’s biggest backers, donating $2 million in both January and June last year, according to Federal Election Commission filings that show his $4 million accounts for half of what the group raised last year.

Klarman, who runs the Boston-based Baupost hedge fund and is a vocal Trump critic who has donated to both parties, gave $1 million to the group in May last year.

Pritzker, of the billionaire family that founded Hyatt hotels, gave a total of $1 million to the group through two $500,000 donations in June and November last year.

Republican Voters Against Trump claims, Trump “has praised our enemies like Vladimir Putin and intends to abandon our NATO allies and the Ukrainian people. He wants to install loyalists in his next administration who will ensure that he gets what he wants, no matter how unlawful. He now faces 91 felonies in four separate indictments for falsifying business records, mishandling classified documents, trying to overturn the 2020 election, and pressuring the Republican Georgia Secretary of State to ‘find him’ votes.”

Notably, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee just announced that six charges listed in the indictment must be quashed, including three counts against Trump, per court documents, Just the News just reported.

Republican Accountability PAC has made some interesting contributions for/against Republican candidates. Here’s who they supported/opposed in 2021-2022:

It’s curious that they spent $1,741,982 to oppose JD Vance and then spent $3,183 to support him. And $40,404 to support Raphael Warnock exemplifies the veracity of this group.

And here is who they opposed in 2023:

RVAT will be making media buys in an attempt to convince other voters that Trump is “evil” and a “tyrant.”

Beth, with her grasp on the rule of United States law, says: “I don’t think any person who has gotten close enough to being indicted for a felony should be anywhere near the presidency.”

“I have no hesitancy voting for Biden or whoever else the other candidate is because, you know, with Trump, evil is kind of on the ballot. And anyone on the other side against evil I’m gonna go ahead and I’m gonna go ahead and choose the other side, whoever they may be.”

She claims that President Joe Biden’s administration has been “a bit refreshing. I’ll take kind, older man any day over the tyrant.”

That’s a head-shaker.

Sarah Longwell, President of the Republican Accountability PAC summarizes: “It establishes a permission structure that says that—whatever their complaints about Joe Biden—Donald Trump is too dangerous and too unhinged to ever be president again. Who better to make this case than the voters who used to support him?”

Here is a statement from the “dangerous” Donald Trump the Republican Voters Against Trump, The Society for the Rule of Law, and Republican Accountability PAC so vehemently oppose:

“I left behind my former life because I could not sit by and watch career politicians continue bleeding this country dry and allow other nations to take advantage of us on trade, borders, foreign policy, and national defense. As President, I took on every powerful special interest, fixing globalist trade deals, ending foreign wars, securing the border, and standing up to Big Pharma and China. Together, we put America First and returned power to the American People.”

  1. That last statement by President Trump says it all. Everything the opponents of President Trump accuse him of, they themselves are doing. It is a Saul Alinsky tactic and the left uses it all the time.

  2. Yes, Ms. Grimes. Personally, I am skeptical that Hank, Dave and Staci are actually Republicans. In 2020, 95% of Republicans voted for President Trump and most of Nikki Haley’s supporters in the primaries are Democrats. I would expect at least the same amount of Republican support for Mr. Trump this time. As the Trump organization begins to dismantle establishment control of the RNC as reported by Politico (https://www.politico.com/news/2024/03/11/bloodbath-at-rnc-trump-team-slashes-staff-at-committee-00146368) double-dealing RINOs and NeverTrumpers like Liz Cheney have become more strident in their TDS. They are a small minority of the party but with a lot of money, as you point out. 3. No kidding, John.
Wow, this new project is just pathetic, isn’t it. So this is how these circus geeks are utilizing AI, huh? Too bad it comes off as completely phony! Plus everyone who needs to know is well familiar with the names of the people behind this. And regards them with the same eye-rolling skepticism as they do a small but highly visible and noisy group of wacko Hollywood celebs. But why would anyone need $50M to make some videos and send out some emails? Maybe they will be using the overage for “other things.”

  4. Billionaires Reid Hoffman, Seth Klarman and John Pritzker have all been associated with the World Economic Forum globalist cabal. They’re globalist stooges who see Trump as a populist threat to their globalist agenda of destroying the country and imposing their one world government while subjugating the masses to be dependent serfs? No doubt shadowy nefarious groups like “Republican Voters Against Trump” that are full of Bush acolytes and deep-state RINOs are also part of the same globalist cabal?

The Society for the Rule of Law said its mission is to protect the Constitution and the rule of law against rising threats posed by illiberal forces in our society, without regard to political party or partisan affiliation.” They have an upcoming speaking event with John Bolton, and appear to be Nikki Haley supporters.

  5. “Hank says:

And Joe Biden (and his crime-family) is/are INNOCENT of all these claims????

    Are you FREAKING KIDDING me????

  6. Apparently communists (Pritzker et. al) benefit from capitalism. Makes sense to oppose pro-business POTUS candidate.

    1. For elites communism serves two purposes. One is to get mega wealthy, the other is the victims are willing dupes and will fight for the elites to subdue all those who don’t want to be slaves.

  7. This group has one purpose, to target the low information voter, who will not take the time to do their own research. It would not take much effort.
We have 3 years of destruction by the Biden administration, you think that would be enough motivation to learn the truth about Donald J. Trump and who is enemies are. If Joe Biden was such an outstanding president and won his first election with
81 million votes then why all the law-fare and the J6 exploitation. The deep state must be very nervous. Maybe this group of fake angry republican voters will go by the wayside like the other loser; Lincoln Project, Liz Cheney and Boo Hoo face, Hillary Clinton and the mocking bird media.

Let’s not forget Hoffmann has funded the E.J. Carrol lawsuit against Trump and funded Niki Haleys failed campaign. Mr. Hoffman must have a lot riding on this election. Follow the money, it may lead to how they found or created these so called angry former Trump supporters.
The following is my favorite quote:
“She claims that President Joe Biden’s administration has been “a bit refreshing. I’ll take kind, older man any day over the tyrant.”

How contrived is that? Did this person watch the disturbing, State of the Union? I would not describe that as a “refreshing change”!
    I call B*llsh*t!
