Cal State Univ. Sacramento Capitulates Again to Pro-Hamas Protesters

These protests are in support of Hamas, are pro-Palestine, and anti-Israel

By Katy Grimes, May 8, 2024 12:23 pm

Today was supposed to be D-Day for Students for Justice in Palestine protesters at California State University Sacramento. As the Globe reported last Thursday, after giving protesting students until midnight to vacate their campus tent encampment on campus, CSU Sacramento’s administration capitulated the next morning – CSU President Dr. Luke Wood moved the line – to May 8th giving the ignorant, infantilized students another week to protest and disrupt the campus.

Today is May 8th.

California State University Sacramento’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine announced Wednesday that the University President has caved to their demands, and has agreed to investigate and divest in Israel-tied investments.

This Instagram page reports:

After 2 Weeks Of Protesting, Last Night @sacstateStudents Have Won The Battle To Have Sac State Finally Be Divested! Sac State Becomes The First University In America To Be Divested. 🐝 @sacstate Campus President @drlukewood has already made it a campus policy to divest both direct and indirect investments of Sac State and auxiliary investments. He has disclosed direct campus investments online and has announced that all protesting students will be provided amnesty.

•No direct or indirect investment that supports any genocide, ethnic cleansing or human rights violations.
•Up to 20 students from Gaza will be offered to attend Sac State.
•There will be amnesty for everyone at the camp.
•Someone from the Faculty for Justice in Palestine will sit on the finance committee.
•Divestments will be disclosed on CSUS website.
•5/24 official date for divestment.

Students for Justice in Palestine and other groups have led pro-Hamas, pro-Palestine protests on campus since late April.

Dr. Luke Wood, 41, was vice president for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity, at San Diego State before becoming Sac State president. I’m taking a stab in the dark, but he probably hasn’t ever heard that negotiating with terrorists encourages more terrorism.

The Sacramento Bee reported:

“The agreement to change its investment policy language came late Tuesday night between the protesters and California State University, Sacramento, according to both sides. The move makes Sac State one of the first CSU campuses to agree to alter its policies amid the ongoing war in Gaza, which has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians living in Gaza since Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing more than 1,200 Israelis in the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust.

Updates to Sac State’s policies, signed off on by university President Luke Wood, show a variety of changes.

It includes Sac State seeking its five auxiliaries to investigate its direct and indirect investments to ensure practices of only ‘socially responsible investment strategies which include not having direct investments in corporations and funds that profit from genocide, ethnic cleansing, and activities that violate fundamental human rights.’”

It sure sounds as if CSU Sacramento President Wood has handed his leadership card over to the student groups.

Yet, this isn’t the State Department – these are federal government issues and responsibilities – not the role of university presidents, and certainly not the role of ignorant, arrogant students.

The Students for Justice in Palestine and several other non-university affiliated groups have been camped out on the library quad since April 29 in protest of the war between Israel and Hamas, the Bee reported.

While the Bee reports that demonstrations on Sac State’s campus have remained “peaceful,” allowing the protesters to illegally occupy the campus, and then extort anti-Israel, anti-semitic policies out of the school’s leaders is reprehensible, and should be reported as such.

University Presidents across the country appear terrified of dealing with conflict. But by pretending to appease both sides as they clearly think they are doing, is taking a side.

Because these protests are in support of Hamas, are pro-Palestine, and anti-Israel. Many of the protesters chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Their goal is not a two-state solution; their goal is to obliterate Israel.

Why didn’t President Wood tell the protestors to first condemn the deadly attacks on Israel, and the violent rapes and murders of women and children, and only then would he have a discussion with them? In effect, he is also supporting Hamas and anti-semitism.

Let’s remember who these student (and non-student) protesters are:

Students for Justice in Palestine, they are a growing, dangerous group, with presence on far too many US universities as their below map shows.

“Supporting over 350 Palestine solidarity organizations across occupied Turtle Island (“North America”), we aim to develop a student movement that is connected, disciplined, and equipped with the tools necessary achieve Palestinian liberation,” their website proudly proclaims (emphasis Students for Justice in Palestine).

Here is more from their website:

And now we know just how well coordinated these protests really are. A dry run for November? You can bet on it – and Governor Newsom is all-in on it, by his very conspicuous silence.

Here is another map the New York Post made showing the universities which have Students for Justice in Palestine. The NY Post also links the money stream to all of the donors, including Soros. “At three colleges, the protests are being encouraged by paid radicals who are “fellows” of a Soros-funded group called the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR).”

  1. Capitulation was always the plan. These schools recruit these monsters for this very purpose. The professors are worse than the Hitler youth in the tents.

  2. Does the President have the authority to allow admittance based upon a quota? If Sac State has impacted enrollment standards, he has summarily displaced students of taxpayers (the ones that foot the bills) for students that will more than likely be troublemakers (I base that statement upon how crime is being affected by other illegal immigrants). This is what you expect from failed weak leadership.

  3. When investing is lead by protesters with no financial pedigrees asking to divest means that those investments will likely be losses and then when tuition rises —- they will scream about that too.

You cannot run anything successful by kowtowing to mobs

  4. It is time to round them up and the categorize and the outsiders into “probables”:
    Innocent; trespassers, agitators, felons.
Then categorize the students the same way and expel and charge those who caused the trouble. Also, damages come out of their student loans.
If you can’t enforce the laws in the state Capitol , what hood are you?

  5. As a student at Sac State, I am outraged that Luke Wood decided to negotiate with terrorist supporters and pick and choose which campus policies are enforced. From swastikas drawn on desks to signs telling Jewish and Israeli students to go back to Poland, Sac State has been filled with hatred and antisemitism.

    1. I attended “CSU Sacramento” 40 years ago. Even then there were signs of anti-semitism on campus – vile references scrawled on classroom desks, in mens’ rooms, etc.
One of the “students'” demands is for “No direct or indirect investment that supports any genocide, ethnic cleansing or human rights violations.” What were the October 7th terrorist attacks if they weren’t genocidal? It seems to me that these so-called Palestinian protests should be defunded, too, because the protestors are advocating for genocide in Israel.
For now on, the university president Luke Wood should be known as “Limp Wood.” He’s nothing but a DEI hire who’s unqualified to manage a Denny’s Restaurant. I’m embarrassed to be a graduate of Sacramento State University.

      1. Wood, the other presidents, and CSU System Officers are paid way too much for contributing very little. Why is what I assume to be California taxpayer dollars going toward the salaries of those who do not deserve to be paid $200k+?

  6. your narrative is genuinely so stupid and wrong. advocating for peace in falestine and standing up for children who are dying at the hands of apartheid regimes is in no way violent and dangerous. also, using such biased diction to further perpetuate your own hatred and ignorant propaganda is disgusting and disturbing. you should be disgraced as a journalist and ashamed as a human being.

  7. Luke Wood is a diversity hire. He doesn’t care about student safety. If he did, he would take action towards making the university and the surrounding area safer. Remember the shooting near campus at the light rail station at 65th and Q streets? Students never received a shelter-in-place order even though the suspects were on campus. What about the armed robbery outside Hornet Commons on August 4th, 2023? Or the arsons that occurred in February? Just 2 weeks ago on April 23rd, a student was assaulted and robbed inside the university dorms. If Luke Wood would put more effort into student safety instead of virtue signaling with student terrorist supporters, we wouldn’t have to be concerned for our safety.

  8. I’m not surprised by what’s going on at Sac State. Take a look at Luke Wood’s Wikipedia Page.

  9. “…350 Palestine solidarity organizations across occupied Turtle Island (“North America”)…”

Once again, these groups care little about Palestine and are all about destroying the US and replacing it with a Marxist centralized state.

  10. How many of the “Students for Justice in Palestine” are actual students at CSU, Sacramento? Probably not many?

A survey of 1,250 college students found that only a small minority (8%) of college students have participated in either side of the protests and a large majority (81%) of students support holding protesters accountable, agreeing with the notion that those who destroyed property or vandalized or illegally occupied buildings should be held responsible by their university. So that’s the majority of college students. And yet, these colleges bending over backwards to please these Soros funded thugs?

  11. Breitbart is reporting that Maher Bitar, the White House Coordinator for Intelligence and Defense Policy at the U.S. National Security Council (NSC), was a radical pro-Palestinian activist and a leader within Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Bitar’s current high-level intelligence position at the National Security Council does not require Senate confirmation. Bitar’s record is coming under closer scrutiny as Biden takes unprecedented action to undermine Israel’s war against the Hamas terrorists that attacked it on October 7, including withholding arms from Israel.
