Gov. Gavin Newsom Trying to Distance Himself from Himself with Latest Vanity Podcast
Newsom thinks he can pass off his new podcast as a friendly FDR-style fireside chat
By Katy Grimes, February 27, 2025 10:28 am
Apparently concerned about his political future, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced his latest vanity project – another podcast, this one called, “This is Gavin Newsom”, as if we couldn’t figure that out.
California’s Governor is so desperate to control the narrative and news surrounding his tenuous job and multiple crises, he admits it:
“We need to change the conversation. And that’s why I’m launching a new podcast,” Newsom said on X Wednesday. “And this is going to be anything but the ordinary ‘politician’ podcast. I’m going to be talking with people I directly disagree with, as well as people I look up to. But more important than anything else, I’ll be talking with you, the listener.”
Newsom is trying to distance himself from himself. And in doing so, thinks he can pass off his new podcast as a friendly FDR-style fireside chat, in which he can garner Americans’ support for his anti-American policies: blaming climate change for his own failures, his undermining the voters’ passage of Prop. 36 to make crime illegal again, allowing boys in girls sports, violating parental rights in public schools, making California the Abortion Sanctuary State, providing illegal aliens Medi-Cal health care, starving the state of water, his war on the oil and gas industry… and so much more.
We wrote “How to Kill a State in 5 Easy Steps: Gavin Newsom’s California.” Expand government, raise taxes, decrease gas supply, kill-off ag, cut water supply.
Everything Gavin Newsom does is with the intention of improving his image. He should start with how he speaks to people.
Newsom said in his announcement on X that his podcast will be “real conversations.” Doesn’t he normally have “real conversations” like the rest of us?
“Real conversations. What’s going on with the price of eggs? What are the real impacts to you around tariffs? What power does an executive order really have? And what’s really going on inside of DOGE? Look, there’s an onslaught of information we take in. So let’s take it to the sources without the typical political mumbo jumbo. In the first few weeks we’ll be sitting down with some of the biggest leaders and architects of the MAGA movement. This is Gavin Newsom.”
You dear reader, may be wondering that if Gavin now wants to talk to you about the price of eggs, what were his concerns the last 4 years? (Other than being on the presidential ticket)
And tariffs… I’m looking forward to hearing his deep insight on reciprocal trade and tariffs.
Newsom said he now has an interest in understanding MAGA:
“I want to understand what the motivations are, the legitimacy of those motivations, and just really understand where people are coming from.”
Newsom said he in interested in challenging his own positions, “in a more transparent manner:”
“I’m here to stress test positions, including my own, in a more transparent manner.
He might have attempted transparency 5 years ago when he announced he was locking down the entire state for a flu… and then held daily but remote press briefings, where all he did was talk, and talk, and talk in that lilted, choppy way he speaks when he thinks he is being smart.

Newsom got philosophical during his announcement:
“It’s not a place everyone comes for therapy. I’m not looking to just give the orthodoxy — progressive and liberal talking points. There are so many outstanding people doing that, like our gifted professionals.”
“Gifted professionals?” who give “the orthodoxy”? Who is he talking about? Rachel Maddow? James Carville? Nancy Pelosi?
“I add no value in that space. I’m a redundant voice.”
Well, at least we agree on that.
“But what I think I can offer is as a practitioner — not an ideologue, not a pundit:
“Not an ideologue?” Newsom is the very definition of an ideologue: a person who zealously advocates an ideology.
I’m in it as much or more than most elected officials in this country, because I’m in the largest state. I’m in a state that’s deeply on the mind of the administration. I’m in a state that is profoundly critical to the fate and future as it relates to some of the most critical industries like artificial intelligence, and obviously in this remarkable moment as it relates to geopolitical re-calibration.”
“I, I, I, I, I,” says Gavin. “It’s all about me” should be his motto.
Gov. Newsom apparently thinks that because President Donald Trump said that the country can’t be healthy without a healthy California, that Newsom is part of that equation. Except, President Trump knows that Gavin Newsom was an integral part of creating an unhealthy California. (I know – the President and I discussed this during our 2022 interview.)
All of this examination and explanation is just once more exposing Gavin Newsom’s real intentions and flawed purpose. “I, I, I, I, I, me, me, me, me, me.”
Gov. Newsom wants everyone to believe that he is willing to reach out to the right to try to understand MAGA – after he spent the last presidential campaign trashing Donald Trump and MAGA followers.
And put aside the “political mumbo jumbo.” Ironically, political mumbo jumbo is Newsom’s specialty as an ideologue.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the greatest governor of all?” Newsom surely asks his magic mirror many times daily.
If Gov. Gavin Newsom thinks he can pass off his new podcast as a FDR fireside chat, in which he can garner Americans’ support for his climate policies, he’s got another thing coming. And, I don’t know anyone who wants to hear Newsom talk about himself or listen to his voice any more than we have to.

He’s trying to use the new media format to connect. Why not just do a long form podcast with Rogan?
Dear Governor Newsom,
I have a big question. It’s about the billion dollar no-bid contract that you gave to Chinese electric bus manufacturer BYD for the procurement of N95 masks during the Covid ‘crisis’. Would you like to chat about that a little bit?
Thank you in advance and, by the way, your pipe smoke has a wonderful fragrance to it.
I would also like to ask Newsom about defective Chinese steel being used on the Bay Bridge and the Chinese rip-off of Cal Pers. I wonder if he has any insights. We can also ask him about the Chinese lab that was located in Reedley.
This time, Newsom has definitely “Jumped the Shark”.
HA HA! An AI Gavin Newsom “fireside chat” portrait. Hilarious.
Am I wrong to think that most of us would rather stick needles in our ears than listen to a Gavin podcast?
This guy really does think he can make everything okay with a podcast, doesn’t he? Wow.
Good thing the CA Globe is at the ready, with bursting archives that have documented the Real Story of Gov Gavin, and they’re not fairy tales, either, unless you’re into the nitty-gritty Grimm Bros. stuff that describes how Cinderella’s evil step-sisters tried to get the glass slipper to fit.
How bizarre is it that what NEVER occurs to this Worst and Most Destructive Governor Ever is that maybe, just maybe, applying himself to tackle the many many many many pressing problems in California (such as getting to work ASAP on the wildfire prevention stuff, which is super-timely right about now?) might be more appropriate for the endless but doomed-to-failure Quest to be King in 2028.
Thanks so much Gavin Newsom for killing our state. Jerk.
Needles, definitely needles in the ears would be my preference.😂
I just want him to go away! Spend more time with the family in Kentwood.
Would like to ask how he was able to buy a 9 million dollar home on a 234k a year salary! Also why does he have a big pool and spa when California is having water shortages. How much is his gas and electric bill? And since we all need to be tolerant and do our duty to help out all the homeless, how many homeless people can we put in his home to help solve the homeless crises? Since it’s 5,600 square feet I would think it could house maybe 30 homeless immigrants. We’re happy to provide delivery for these needy people. Even better, why did you move so far away from Sacramento to a remote area away from everyone. Isn’t it much better to be near all the issues and problems so he can better serve his people. When will he be moving to live near homeless encampments near the people where he is able to spread his vast wisdom and deliver us from evil!
He is the evil!
The only fireside chat I would tune into is if the great Katy Grimes was sitting across from the self engaged governor. Now that would motivate me take the needles out of my ears😉
So it begs the question did he come up with this scheme or did he hire a politico advisor to improve his image. I can just imagine that meeting… “Look Gav, podcasts are where it is at!” I mean just look at Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson and Shawn Ryan. That is how Trump beat Kamala”
Sorry Gov Gav, but actions speak much louder than words and to put it “mildly”,
YOUR ACTIONS HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS!
So chat away it does not change the fact that you have failed this state, the proof is in the ashes!
Remarkable that Gavin is seated next to a Venn Diagram bathed by lamp light.
Prima facie evidence that this guy is 100% full-blown narcissistic personality disorder….
Seconding those calls for his “conversation” about his relationship to BYD, and all other suspicious CCP entities along with his trip to China in 2023….
Full-on grifter, just like Auntie Nancy….
