‘Kamala Harris for the People’ Holds Fundraiser at Getty Home on ‘Billionaires Row’ in SF
Across town at the California Democratic Party’s Convention the crowd chanted ‘Ber-nie! Ber-nie! Ber-nie!’

“Kamala Harris for the People” campaign just held a fundraiser at the home of billionaires Ann and Gordon Getty in San Francisco, on what has come to be knows as “Billionaires Row,” reputed to be the wealthiest block in the world. Getty is a former oil tycoon. The cost to attend: up to $28,000.
Many are asking if she is taking oil money. Nothing about an event at the Getty mansion is “for the people.” Democratic presidential candidates from Bill Clinton to Barack Obama have all had fundraisers at billionaires Ann and Gordon Getty’s home.
Also, listed on the guest list was Assemblyman Phil Ting (D-San Francisco). While Ting has four pieces of legislation and a budget bill to push all electric vehicles in California, having dinner and hanging out with a billionaire oil tycoon is ironic.
“While Harris was attending a private fundraiser Friday at the home of billionaires Ann and Gordon Getty in San Francisco, (Bernie) Sanders was stopping by the Latino and labor caucuses at the convention,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
At the California Democratic Party’s Convention Friday evening in San Francisco, even after Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) spoke on behalf of Kamala Harris, “many of those in the crowd chanted, Ber-nie! Ber-nie! Ber-nie!'” the Chronicle reported.
“Harris isn’t even in the second choice of many progressives in the caucus, said the group’s outgoing chair, Mark Van Landuyt. Most here are for Bernie, then after that it’s Elizabeth Warren. They have faith that he will do the things he’s promising. We’ve been burned by politicians who promised but haven’t delivered.”
