Newsom and Democrats Flailing for Relevance with Stunts

Following their sweeping losses in 2024, Democrats were still in shock over the drubbing. Focus groups of voters who backed Democrats said the Party was weak, ineffective, hadn’t delivered anything needed by Americans, and said the Party was run by elites out of touch with real American people.

Nearly 9 months later, Democrats are breaking records, but not the good kind. Their approval ratings are in the tank. CNN’s Harry Enten warned over the weekend of Democrats’ plummeting approval ratings.

Enter said “the seat-by-seat landscape in the House isn’t the most appealing for Democrats. Both the Cook Political Report and Inside Elections show more potential pickup opportunities for the Republicans than Democrats. This is without any pro-Republican redistricting that might occur in Texas — or potential pro-Democratic redistricting in other states as retaliation for whatever Texas does.”

Democrats are reeling, having missed the message from their voters, and now having allowed the craziest wing of the Party to lead on messaging and policy, the Party appears to be floundering and desperate.

When California Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14) posted his embarrassing weight lifting routine on X, the cringe was felt around the world.

Swalwell “flexed his muscles” in a video he posted to X, while he whined about Republicans recessing Congress for summer. “I should be working right now,” Swalwell said while taking a selfie video of lifting a whopping 135 pounds according to X posters. “I should be at the Capitol. I should be in a suit. Instead, Republicans sent us home because they would rather stand up for Donald Trump than release the Epstein files and stand up for victims.”

Swalwell was savaged on X.

“So, when did you work out?” Kyle Becker asked.

“I guess it’s better than pumping Chinese spies.” Viva Frei said.

“Careful, don’t let the barbell crush your vagina.” Rising Serpent said.

Rep. Eric Swalwell could be working hard in his district office, actually meeting with constituents – those people who voted for him who are suffering under California’s issues with cancelled insurance, high utility costs, high gas prices, crappy public schools, wildfires, crime, homeless drug addicts, water restrictions, or the high home prices in Dublin, Livermore, Castro Valley, Pleasanton, high cost cities in his district. Dublin has a median home cost of $1,339,645; Livermore has a median home cost of $1,160,697; Pleasanton has a median home cost of $1,68,000, Castro Valley has a median home cost of $1,165,752.

Eric Swalwell, as with most Democrats, resorts to stunts – really stupid, cringy stunts. He’s in good company with California’s brat Governor Gavin Newsom, whose stunts are also cringeworthy.

Their desperation and history of bad decisions is leading Democrats down the wrong fork in the road. “They got nothin and it’s almost sad,” a long time business owner recently told me.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is the most unserious governor California has ever experienced, and he shows no interest in running the state – primarily because he thinks he deserves to be the President of the United States.

Following Donald Trump’s big win Nov. 5, 2024, Gavin Newsom wasted no time harassing and threatening the soon-to-be 47th president.

As the Globe reported Nov. 7th, Newsom issued a bridled threat “to stand with states across our nation to defend our Constitution and uphold the rule of law.”

He followed that subtle threat with specifics – lawsuits against the Trump administration.

Newsom issued a proclamation convening a special session of the California Legislature “shoring up California’s defenses against an incoming federal administration that has threatened the state on multiple fronts.”

That meant nothing.

This has become standard operating procedure with Democrats. The behavior is childish and connotes a petulant child taking his ball and going home rather than losing another game.

Blah blah blah blah blah.

How about actually governing the largest state in the county?

Democrats forget that Trump won because Americans suffered under the disastrous and deadly Democrat policies of the Obama Administration, as well as the last four years of the Biden Administration – the open border in which 20+ millions illegal aliens entered the country; the Fentanyl which crossed the border killing Americans; the highest record inflation in 40 years; cutting energy production resulting in no energy security or independence, massive budget deficits; rampant violent crime on the streets…

The California Governor has claimed he has “sub-zero interest” in seeking the Presidency.

And with a stateful of serious problems that tarnish an ambitious man’s ambitions, Newsom continues the stunts. Stupid stunts.

In June, Gavin Newsom filed a $787 million defamation lawsuit against Fox News in Delaware Superior Court, alleging that the network, and Fox host Jesse Watters, defamed him by saying that Newsom was called by President Donald Trump to discuss deploying the military to help quell the L.A. anti-ICE riots days earlier than when the actual call took place.

Dan Walters, a reporter and opinion columnist for more than five decades said in June, “Newsom’s attention-seeking political stunts could backfire.”

Walters also said “Political oddsmakers took it as a quasi-declaration of candidacy and early polling has put Newsom in the upper tier of potential 2028 Democratic candidates, albeit with scarcely double-digit support.”

“As Newsom’s time in office declines, we’ll likely see a steady escalation of statements and actions drawing national attention to himself,…” Walters added.

Gavin Newsom’s most recent stunt is playing out on podcasts and in news reports – Newsom “is plotting to abolish California’s voter-approved Citizens Redistricting Commission, seize its powers for himself, and relegate Republicans to just 3 congressional seats out of 52,” California Rep. Kevin Kiley says.

“Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

As David Giglio correctly explains:

“Gavin Newsom wants to run around doing media circuits, crying about Republicans in Texas redrawing congressional lines while failing to acknowledge two key points: 1) The 2020 Census was intentionally manipulated to rob Republican states of gaining rightfully earned EVs while protecting Democratic states like California, New York, etc from rightfully losing more than 1 EV.  2) California, despite having a so-called “independent redistricting commission placed in charge of drawing its congressional lines, is already heavily gerrymandered thanks to the efforts of the committee that was filled with leftist activists and led by a prominent liberal professor. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at how the commission skillfully carved up the heart of California’s most conservative and heavily Republican area, the Central Valley, which swung hard towards Trump and Republicans in 2024. The 20th Congressional District was intentionally drawn to encompass as many Republican voters as possible so that the surrounding CA21, CA22, and CA13 districts would be more Democratic and rob Republicans of picking up at LEAST two more representatives in Congress.

Newsom stunt is ridiculous.

The California Citizens Redistricting Commission is a state agency created by voters with the passage of California Proposition 11 in 2008, also known as the “Voters First Act.”

The California Citizens Redistricting Commission draws the boundary lines for California state legislative districts and Board of Equalization districts after each decennial census.

California already lost one congressional seat and electoral vote due to the massive outbound migration of California residents to other states. The once Golden State is facing losing four more Congressional seats – likely Democrat seats.

This is what has Democrats so frantic, because rather than set out to find out why, it’s all about power and control and politics for them.

And, another Democrat Party autopsy isn’t going to reveal anything other than Democrats are dying by suicide.

Open the borders creating the biggest human trafficking crisis in US history;

Epic foreign policy fails;

Afghanistan pullout;

Economy in the tank, and record high inflation;

Expansion of government services on steroids;

Obama administration corruption;

Hillary Clinton corruption;

Joe Biden autopen presidency (part deus of Obama admin);

Joe Biden Administration orchestrating President Trump’s takedown through law fare.

Democrat politicians ordering Covid lockdowns, masking, vaccines.

“High income inequality in California coincides with high levels of poverty and stagnant upward mobility,” the Public Policy Institute of California reported last year. That is our reality, and is the result of poor public policy.

Remember that the Governor’s budget surplus turned into a $100 billion budget deficit.

This is just part of the Democrat playbook.

Democrats are not trusted by voters in any of these categories – they offer the people nothing that the people want or need.

Gavin Newsom is the poster child for only making the Democrat Party and the country worse.
