Sheriff: Officer Shot by Illegal Alien

Suspect still at Large

By Sean Brown, December 27, 2018 3:26 pm

After attempting to stop a motorist who was suspected of drunk driving, Cpl. Ronil Singh of California’s Newman Police Department has been gunned down by a current at-large man who recently entered the United States illegally.

At a press conference today detailing the tragic incident, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said the department has identified their suspect, however, he remains armed and dangerous. His name has not been released publicly.

“This suspect … is in our country illegally. He doesn’t belong here. He is a criminal,” Christianson told the large gathering of reporters before adding “the sheriff’s office will spare no expense in hunting down this criminal.” Christianson is also the current head leading the investigation.

Singh, a 33-year-old native and legal immigrant from Fiji, was conducting a routine traffic stop that was as part of a DUI investigation when the suspect opened fire and struck Singh before he could react. Singh was eventually able to return fire, but not before the attacker fled the scene in his car. He will be survived by his wife and infant son.

An enormous ground and air search began for the man and remains a top priority, but he has yet to be arrested. Sacramento’s Fox 40 is reporting the suspect is a heavyset Latino male with “short, dark hair and wearing a silver chain, jeans, dark T-shirt and a dark jacket with white Ecko brand patches on the shoulders.”

The horrible event represents a much larger issue that’s currently digging at the center of the country. While the government remains in a partial shutdown, it appears Democrats and Republicans won’t soon be able to compromise on border security. Republicans claim that Democrats are against the safety of and security of citizens while Democrats – led by Nancy Pelosi, call the wall “immoral” and inefficient.

Ever since the start of his 2016 campaign, President Trump has been very vocal about the need for enhanced border security and a wall separating the U.S. and Mexico. Furthermore, California’s overwhelming protection for illegal immigrants through its expansive sanctuary city policies has certainly played a role in the numerous innocent victims and police officers tragically losing their lives due to the difficulty of removing these people from the state.

Although it may be true that the dangerous criminals only represent a small fraction of the overall good immigrants, shouldn’t every person be vetted the same regardless of their intentions?

President Trump tweeted today “There is right now a full scale manhunt going on in California for an illegal immigrant accused of shooting and killing a police officer during a traffic stop. Time to get tough on Border Security. Build the Wall!”

The news only comes about two months after the President released a video intended to inform people about some of the hazardous people coming into the country. That video featured illegal immigrant Luis Bracamontes who murdered two law enforcement officers in a 2014 shooting that also took place in the Sacramento area.

Still, fellow Stanislaus County sheriff’s Deputy Raj Singh, who is not related to the slain officer, said of Singh “He was living the American dream,” and “he loved camping, loved hunting, loved fishing, loved his family.”

  1. 90 % of all drugs come from Mexico and there are 49,000 HIspanic street gang members in La County. There are estimates of 174,000 Hispanic gang members in California. When you allow the son of Fabian Nunez to get away with murder that says it all.
