The ‘Wrongful Conviction’ of Donald J. Trump

‘President Trump will have the biggest mandate for revolutionary change since 1776′

By Katy Grimes, May 30, 2024 4:25 pm

Today the Manhattan jury convicted former Pres. Donald J. Trump on all of the 34 charges brought by Alvin Bragg in what can only be described as a “miscarriage of justice.”

As Federalist CEO and co-founder Sean Davis said, “Moscow on the Hudson. Stalin himself might not have been so brazen to do what Democrats just did.”

Each of these statements was made shortly after the Manhattan jury delivered their “guilty on all 34 counts” decision – some to me personally, and some are on X… Only, we still don’t know what the charges and crimes were:

The Fascist Democrats may have just assured their own destruction.

The sleeping giant, which was already stirring, has just received a triple dose of political Red Bull!

President Trump will have the biggest mandate for revolutionary change since 1776.

Donald Trump is a martyr—a modern-day Joan of Arc.

Donald Trump has been elected the 47th President of the United States.

I just donated $300k to President Trump.

After Biden’s disastrous presidency, Trump has a lot of supporters in Silicon Valley; many are just afraid to admit it. But with each act of courage, like this one, the dam begins to break.

Trump could win in a landslide. This case could be reversed on appeal. But the bell can never be unrung. We’re living in a different country now than the one we woke up in this morning.

Law professor Jonathan Turley said the jury did not even specify what the “second crime” was on their verdict. “Wow. What complete travesty,” attorney and political radio host Hugh Hewitt said.

Breitbart’s Joel Pollak said, “President Trump will have the biggest mandate for revolutionary change since 1776;” and

“A government that allows this to happen has to be completely gutted. You have to fire almost everyone and start over. As disturbing as today’s verdict is, we may be about to live through the most exciting period of reform in history of our country. The second American Revolution.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis shared his lucid, relevant thoughts:

Today’s verdict represents the culmination of a legal process that has been bent to the political will of the actors involved: a leftist prosecutor, a partisan judge and a jury reflective of one of the most liberal enclaves in America—all in an effort to “get” Donald Trump.

That this case—involving alleged misdemeanor business records violations from nearly a decade ago—was even brought is a testament to the political debasement of the justice system in places like New York City. This is especially true considering this same district attorney routinely excuses criminal conduct in a way that has endangered law-abiding citizens in his jurisdiction.

California Assemblyman Bill Essayli (R-Riverside) shared his thoughts:

As a former prosecutor I have never seen anything like this — Democrats are so deranged and scared of Trump they are willing to tear up our legal system for political purposes. The People see through this sham of a trial and Donald J. Trump will be the 47th President of the United States.

The Heritage Foundation President Dr. Kevin Roberts issued the following statement:

“This verdict is a travesty to our republic. This was a bogus prosecution engineered by President Biden and his weaponized DOJ that has made the New York justice system look like that of a third-world country where government officials engage in partisan prosecutions against their political opponents. The chief witness was a convicted perjurer who admitted to hating and stealing from his former client. Neither the Federal Election Commission nor the U.S. Department of Justice initiated any enforcement proceedings against Trump for the simple reason that the settlement payment that was at issue in the case was not a campaign-related expense under federal law.“Judge Merchan tainted this jury since day one by ignoring nearly every motion and objection by the defense and refusing to allow crucial testimony in this show trial. It is shameful that the members of this jury apparently allowed their partisan bias to overrule the interests of justice to render an unfair and unjustified verdict. This is election interference carried out by a Soros-supported rogue prosecutor.“President Trump and his legal team can and will raise the significant issues with this case on appeal, which should result in overturning this conviction and justice finally being served. Nonetheless, this will take time and effort away from President Trump’s campaign for the presidency, which was the ultimate goal of this political witch hunt. Americans everywhere should be outraged at the weaponization of our justice system.”

Attorney and political radio host Hugh Hewitt said:

This is a travesty, and as certain as I have been on air that the former president would be convicted, I’m just as certain the conviction will be reversed. Some of the grounds for reversal: –the charging document did not specify the “second crime”; –the judge had made a symbolic contribution to Joe Biden and Donald Trump organizations in 2020, yet refused defense’s motion to recuse; –the judge did not permit former Federal Elections Commission Chair Professor Brad Smith to testify about past decisions of the FEC; –the judge allowed plea agreements from Cohen and Pecker to be admitted into evidence –the judge’s charging instructions were beyond confusing, and did not instruct on the elements of the FEC violation. There are more grounds, but that is a starter list. What a terrible scar on the idea that our country does not conduct political show trials.

A favorite comment, along with a lot of other X’rs was affirmative:

I’ve seen enough… Donald Trump has been elected the 47th President of the United States.

As Martin Luther King said, “We shall overcome.”

  1. Never has there been a more important reason to elect D. Trump than Traitor Merchan and his goon squad.

  2. Invictus – BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY
What allowed Nelson Mandela to keep the faith during his persecution.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

  3. Biden and the Democrat/Rino deep state are behind this abomination of a trial, run by a corrupt judge and prosecutors; and a verdict rendered by disgracefully weak jury members. These Democrat scum will stop at nothing; including jailing Mr. Trump and, if this does not prevent him from becoming POTUS again in November, they will get one of their crazy leftist loonies to try an assassination. It’s the fascists’ way.

  4. Most Americans already knew why Donald Trump has been put through this appallingly corrupt process.
Who knows how many millions more have been slapped awake by what happened today?
How could we not be on the precipice of a new era of American awakening and renewal?
This is all happening for a reason.
    God bless Donald Trump.

      1. Yes Amen to that.
The veil must be lifted for us to see that we have been living under an illusion of a free and just society. The deep state exists and the America First movement is a threat to their existence.

They have been after Trump the day he announced he would run as a Republican. He once was the darling of the New York Upper West Side. He helped shape New York’s Skyline. He saved famous landmarks from being demolished. He was loved by the Dems when he wrote campaign checks and so on, Now because he is a threat to their fiefdom he is enemy #1!
God Bless America, God Bless Donald Trump.

  5. Think about this. Judge Merchan can jail President Trump immediately on the July 17. sentencing – a few days before the Republican convention, preventing him from campaigning at all. For those who think that is unlikely, given his lack of any criminal record, and the fact it is a very low level felony, think again. Merchan has been biased all along, and is unlikely to stop.

I donated today. I hope you will encourage others to do the same.

    1. You are right, Rod. There is nothing that these fanatics are NOT capable of doing. They are labeling Mr. Trump AND his supporters a “clear and present danger” to democracy. So, we are the enemy and, in their twisted minds, it justifies whatever THEY choose to do, because THEY are the PROTECTORS of democracy in this country. These are dangerous times. I pray for Mr. Trump and his supporters.

  6. If Trump as a former president can be convicted over nothing, then so can Biden and Obama who are are guilty of real crimes including crimes against humanity? The evil deep-state Democrat/RINO uniparty and their globalist paymasters went too far and they will eventually pay the price?

  7. Katy, thank you for this article. I too stand with Donald J. Trump against this rigged travesty by the Bidden Adminstration and others of the Uni Party, including those of the British financial and intelligence networks. We need an all out mobilization of letters to editors, articles, and show of support for Donald J. Trump. On June 6th I will participating in a Trump Train in San Francisco at the Green Marina at 2pm to welcome Donald Trump to San Francisco. This is a make or break time for our nation and all of humanity. Donald Trump is needed in the White House along with all of us to help govern this country. Mindy Pechenuk, candidate for Oakland City Council At Large

  8. Larry Elder quoted admiral Yamamoto comments after pear harbor “ I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve”.

The left has awakened the sleeping giant! Trump/2024.

  9. Never in my life have I heard or read such illiterate fantasy based garbage as I do from Trump supporters. You people are demented. Trump is being treated like anyone else. He is no more or no less than any other citizen.NONE of you including the talking heads on TV were in the courtroom much less understand the charges or the evidence presented. This is not a reality TV show. You are being manipulated by a man whose whole career has been based on lies and publicity. Trumps supporters are the suckers being played by a modern day con man. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Trump is a disgrace to the United States.

    1. Wow, who knew Robert De Niro was a CA Globe reader? Welcome, Bob!
Enjoyed your work in “Meet the Parents.”

    2. The real disgrace to the United States was the foregone conclusion of this phony kangaroo trial. It has unleashed a bottled genie that will now allow friendly courts to pursue criminal prosecution of the Biden crime family, the Clintons and Obama.

    3. You are brainwashed by the Leftists, CNN, MSNBC and the others. You are the demented one, not us. We see the truth.

    4. NO ONE knows what the actual crime Trump was “convicted” of. Not the prosecutors, not the judge, not the jury. If the “crime” here was redacted to elections, then it would have been up to the FEC to prosecute this case and the statute of limitations ran out on that long ago. Also, the partisan judge in this case refused to let the defense put an FEC commissioner on the stand to explain to the jury just what exactly it was Trump was being accused of. This was a verdict that was already decided long before a single word was uttered in that court room. The fact Alvin Bragg campaigned on “getting Trump” at all costs and the lead prosecutor in this case left the Biden DOJ last year in order to pursue it shows that this was a rigged, sham trial from the get go and the vast majority of American voters understand this.

    5. @False Reality Based, you spend too much time listening to Rachel Maddow, Joy (what hair color is it today?) Reid, and that turd Lawrence O’Donnell. The time will eventually come when former Vice President Joe Biden answers for his crimes of selling out this country to the Chinese Communists and the Russians. Everything you stated about Trump is exactly who and what Biden is. It’s typical of the left to accuse the other side of exactly what they are doing.

  10. Trump is not the real issue here. It’s using another, non-adjudicated felony act to upgrade a current misdemeanor act to a felony act. If this holds during appeal, the judicial system will be in turmoil. For example, a person is arrested for a misdemeanor act, but in court, is suspected of a felony act with good evidence. The jury can then make a decision on the felony act and simultaneously convict the person on a misdemeanor act, and then throw the person in prison as if it were a felony act even thought the person was never previously convicted on the felony act. Yikes.

    1. Yes, of course, nofearmfd. These ne’er-do-wells’ abuse of the judicial system and rejection of the rule of law — and knowingly doing it, too —- is what should be considered a criminal act.
      No consequences? We’ll see.

  11. Fake trial notwithstanding, I am not convinced that this injustice will get Trump elected. We are forgetting a few important details. (1) States with the most electoral votes are still blue. Nothing will change it. (2) The left owns the media, education, corporations, and just about every other institution in this country. (3) Election fraud has become the new order of the day. (4) The current anti-white globalist zeitgeist is violently opposed to men like Donald Trump. (5) We have an apathetic, misinformed, ignorant, and stupid electorate. The danger to America is not Joe Obiden but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obiden presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama and a Joe Biden, who are, after all, merely fools. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president, viz., the people in this country who vote.

    1. Yes Leonard. I am reminded of Winston Churchill’s quote:

“The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”

  12. Look, he just did it. He did everything he was charged with and lied and bragged about it repeatedly, then he demanded that his attorneys put up a terrible defense that he himself concocted. What a dope.

Cohen also did it, everything he was charged with, but he copped to it, took good advice from his lawyers, and took his punishment. Then he behaved well and wisely in the trial.

Who is the better, smarter person?

    1. @Mike Elwin. This is not about Trump. It’s about the individual freedoms and protections guaranteed by the Constitution. Like the freedom of speech that you are using now on this forum. No one is going to deny you that right on this forum or go and arrest you for speaking up. But if this political prosecution of Trump is allowed to succeed…..someone WILL be able to come for YOU because it sets a PRECEDENT. Do some dispassionate research on your own and educate yourself, dude.

“A judicial decision that is binding on other equal or lower courts in the same jurisdiction as to its conclusion on a point of law, and may also be persuasive to courts in other jurisdictions, in subsequent cases involving sufficiently similar facts. ” – precedent

  13. Once all the corruption is revealed (judge, jury, prosecutor, lawyers and witnesses) the “guilty verdict” that has the left all in a lather will go away leaving them with NOTHING.

  14. I believe that we Trump supporters must resign ourselves to the fact that this corrupt judge Merchan will most assuredly sentence the former president to jail. Merchan will, under pressure from the Demonic Dems led by Biden, concoct a fraudulent justification which states that Mr. Trump, along with his co-conspirators, attempted to perform the greatest political crime of the modern era, in attempting to steal the 2020 election. These Democrats are psychologically demented, sick people.

  15. If you support how the laws are being ignored in order to prosecute President Trump then the next time you receive a speeding ticket for going more that 20 mph over the speed limit you deserve to be convicted of attempted murder, fined $5,000,000, and publicly persecuted. You don’t believe in justice, you believe in blind hate.

    1. Daniele – What are you talking about? That happens all the time in America when a poor person who is behind on their car registration is pulled over for going 10 miles over the limit. The car is often towed, they receive an expensive fine, every equipment violation is written up, or worse they will end up getting put in jail because of an outstanding bench warrant and end up losing their job. Every one of these is a mere administrative violation, not a violent nor property crime. As a libertarian it’s really weird to see Republican suddenly concerned about this.

      1. @MK, if they did not have that outstanding warrant they would not end up getting arrested. They would not have an outstanding warrant if they had not committed a crime. I come from a law enforcement background and most of these “outstanding warrants” are not mere administrative violations and many are felonies.

  16. Raymond – This precedent was already set long ago but I didn’t see anyone complain when it was being used unfairly against others.. only now that it has been used against Trump. Seems to me that Trump supporters have historically been rabid fans of zealous law enforcement including overcharging defendants they perceived to be members of organizations they didn’t like (like BLM) in order to get plea deals.

    1. @MK. Name a former President of the United States, who was railroaded and convicted by a kangaroo district court in this country, besides Trump. He is the FIRST. THAT is the precedent. BLM supporters were arrested for endangering public safety, some destroying and burning down businesses. They started riots where innocent bystanders were injured. Protesting past injustice doesn’t justify breaking the law. When you point the finger at others, look at your hand, most fingers point right back at you.

  17. I’m sure that any person of interest you are in favor of that was tried for felony counts would always put a ‘Wrongful Conviction’ label on it. Trump is a god to you and his supporters therefore, you can find no wrong doings by a god.

    1. @James Phillips. Wrong. People support Trump because he addresses the ISSUES that are IMPORTANT in their daily lives – inflation, illegal migration, taxes, energy prices, crime, globalism, the deep state, election integrity – things that Biden ignores. Supporters understand Trump’s personal limitations and are willing to look beyond them. Just like they did for Democrat Bill Clinton. Those who really DO see Trump as a “god” are people like you and Biden who don’t understand his MAGA supporters (and don’t want to) and have no other way to explain why we support him – your problem is called TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome.

      1. “the deep state”

Groups like the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation which have extraordinary influence behind the scenes in law and government are the “deep state”. The Republican Party plan for 2025 is the deep state in action. It was written by people who make up groups like that. If you oppose a deep state then you must not like Trump and Republicans.

  18. “I just donated $300k to President Trump.”

Donated a ton of money to one of the richest people in the country.
