The U.S. House of Representatives voted Friday to adopt a resolution to honor the “life and legacy” of Charlie Kirk following his brutal murder during a college campus speaking event at Utah Valley University.
The resolution to honor Kirk, led by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Turning Point USA founder Kirk “became one of the most prominent voices in America, engaging in respectful, civil discourse across college campuses, media platforms, and national forums, always seeking to elevate truth, foster understanding, and strengthen the Republic.”
Ahead of the vote, Speaker Mike Johnson stated, “It would be it would be great for the country if Republicans and Democrats could stand together to call out political violence.”
While the measure got bipartisan support with a 310-58 vote, the vote highlighted the divided Democrats: 95 lawmakers voted to adopt the resolution, 58 voted against it and 22 did not vote at all.
California had four Democrat members of Congress who voted NO, against the resolution Honoring the life and legacy of Charles “Charlie” James Kirk, to call out political violence: Rep. Jimmy Gomez, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Rep. Lateefah Simon, and Rep. Maxine Waters, pictured above.
There were 11 Democrats who voted “PRESENT:” Reps. Julia Brownley, Salud Carbajal, Mark DeSaulnier, John Garamendi, Ro Khanna, Doris Matsui, Brad Sherman, and Mike Thompson. Voting “present” is a formal method of abstaining, which means choosing not to cast a vote.
There were 7 Democrats “NOT VOTING:” Reps. Nanette Barragan, Robert Garcia, Kevin Mullin, Raul Ruiz, Nancy Pelosi, Eric Swallwell, and Norma Torres.
21 California Democrats joined the 9 Republicans who voted YEA to pass the resolution Honoring the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk.
Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who voted NO, had this to say the day of Charlie Kirk’s murder:

In 2019, then-Assemblywoman Kamlager-Dove (D-Los Angeles) authored a resolution to “encourage” financial institutions to stop lending to gun manufacturers and gun retailers.
“You cannot have a gun if the gun has not been made… you cannot sell a gun that has not been made,” Assemblywoman Kamlager-Dove claimed.
Assemblywoman Kamlager-Dove was just another member of the California Legislature unencumbered by the thought process.
Remember, Kamlager-Dove is the brainiac who said in March, “We are gonna continue to speak lies to his truth, to his stealing and to his cheating,” as a response to Democrats fighting President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s DOGE. Charlie Kirk thought her statement was hilarious.

Rep. Lateefah Simon also jumped on “gun violence” in reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder:

Rep. Maxine Waters, who is 87, still has the debunked Russia-Collusion pinned on her X page, and not much else:

Rep. Jimmy Gomez, who voted NO on the Kirk resolution, did post a decent statement on the day of Kirk’s murder:

However, Gomez believes President Trump cancelled Jimmy Kimmel’s show:

The resolution also said:
“Charlie Kirk personified the values of the First Amendment, exercising his God-given right to speak freely, challenge prevailing narratives, and did so with honor, courage, and respect for his fellow Americans;
Charlie Kirk’s commitment to civil discussion and debate stood as a model for young Americans across the political spectrum, and he worked tirelessly to promote unity without compromising on conviction;
The assassination of Charlie Kirk was not only a heinous act of violence, but a sobering reminder of the growing threat posed by political extremism and hatred in our society.”
Here is the full California Congressional delegation vote:

- Newsom and Team Go Lower than Squid Poop on the Bottom of the Ocean - December 12, 2025
- No More ‘Paper or Plastic:’ Bring Your Own Bags to the Store Jan 1 - December 11, 2025
- Gas Prices Plunge to Lowest Levels in Years… Except in California - December 11, 2025

So much for the unity they have been proclaiming this week!
They could not bring themselves to vote for a bill that condemns political violence!
Typical.
Most of us would have been surprised if any of California’s Democrat representatives had voted to call out political violence and honor Charlie Kirk’s memory after his political assassination? They’ve become the political party that encourages their minions to do whatever it takes including violent confrontation. Many of them seem to be demonically possessed? If they continue with their violent rhetoric and agenda, it might be appropriate for them to be labeled as domestic terrorists?
As for Democrat Assemblywoman Kamlager-Dove, the brainiac who said she was going to speak lies to President Trump’s truth, wonder what happened with the $10 million dollar that journalist Matt Taibbi had filed against her for accusing him of being a serial rapist without any proof?
An FCC television broadcast license stipulates that broadcasting on public airwaves be in the public interest. Kimmel engaged in intentional factual falsification which does not serve the public interest, and, therefore, was in violation of FCC rules. If you want to do what Kimmel did, then you should be on cable TV or streaming, not public airwaves. MSNBC is a classic example of this.
It was the local channels’ wishes, the ABC affiliates in other parts of the country, that got my attention in this whole Jimmy Kimmel mess. I believe that their unhappiness —– in the wake of Kimmel’s incendiary lies about Charlie Kirk —- with having to see Kimmel’s mug for even one second when merely channel-surfing, and their subsequent strongly-worded letters and phone calls to the affiliate, never mind that the local affiliates knew that no one was watching the darn show in the first place, would have meant an end to Kimmel eventually, even without the FCC head weighing in. But we tend to forget about the wants and needs of the smaller affiliates out here in La La Land (and in the Big Apple).
The shooting at the ABC10 office in Sacramento is likely a reaction to the Jimmy Kimmel removal. Another example of political violence from a leftist Democrat?
Democrats have become the party of hate, intolerance and violence. God help them.
