COVID Satire Stings Like a Needle

So there’s this:

“We’re exhausted by the right-wing echo chamber that has been perpetuating misinformation around the vaccine and its efficacy and safety. We’re exhausted by the politicalization of this pandemic, and that includes mask-wearing that has been equated to the Holocaust. It’s disgraceful, it’s unconscionable, and it needs to be called out.”

And then there’s this:

“This misinformation is being spread by extremists in our midst.  In particular, it is being spread by conspiracy theorists, far right activists, activists who are even further to the right…These people claim to care for ideals such as democracy, freedom of expression, and open scientific debate…but these people are dangerous and must be silenced.  On that I’m sure we can all agree.”

Question – which actually was said by Gov. Gavin Newsom and which is in the introduction of the wicked pandemic satirical book “Busting Anti-Vax Myths:  Seriously EXPERT Arguments for the Covid-Deniers in your Life”?

The answer later.

Either way, though, the point is the same – experts and officials upended society because they could and because it benefited them personally. How does sending everyone and then some a ballot sound, Gavin?  How does eliminating the competition sound, tech giants?  How does a year and a half off work with pay sound, public school teachers?

The book aptly skewers the motivations and “facts” behind the pandemic response and revels in – as every good actual pandemicist did and still does and wishes were still around and hoping they can convince the world climate change needs the same response – the physical, intellectual, and emotional lockdown of the planet.

The satire, written by “Prof. Oisin MacAmadian of the Termonfeckin (Ireland) Institute of Enterprise,” moves swiftly from point to devastating point:

Focused protection of those most at risk?  WRONG! That’s ageist and discriminatory!

The CDC’s own Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS – https://californiaglobe.com/fr/the-startling-covid-shot-death-and-illness-figures/ ) shows the shot risk orders of magnitude greater than with normal vaccines?  WRONG! The system is flawed and just because people got sick and died shortly after getting the shot doesn’t mean anything, so stop looking at that.

You think the President of France Emmanuel Macron shouldn’t have said he wanted to “piss off” the unvaccinated or refer to them as “no longer citizens?” NOT ENOUGH! The professor says go further and let the tanks roll!

And exactly how far is making someone stay in their house from forcing them to?  Not far at all so it shouldn’t really be that big a deal so stop your whining.

The book does an excellent job lampooning the maniacal response; of course, the best satire is based in truth which, no offense intended, did make the author’s job easier.

Take this actual real thing from New Zealand Prime Minister St. Jacinda Arden for example:

“Your first dose is like going to kindergarten…your second dose is like going to primary school…and your third dose is like going to high school.”

The “professor” finishes this “logical” progression by adding “your fourth dose is like going to university, your fifth is like when you get your first real job, your sixth is like your wedding day, your seventh is like when you earn a top promotion, your eighth is like when you retire, your ninth is like when you enter your retirement home, and your tenth is like just before your funeral!”

And as to vaccinating dogs and cats, a regrettable missed opportunity.

In the end, though, the “professor” cheerily asserts that the pandemic was great for society because, as we all know, “you can’t frown through a mask.”
