Letter to the President of the United States

These are the times that try men’s souls

Dear Mr. President,

Watching the harrowing footage from last night at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner reminds me once again of the constant threat that stalks not only you, sir, but our Republic and the free world itself—the evil that proliferates in the shadows, waiting for any moment of weakness to strike. In these times that try men’s souls, your unyielding presence on that stage, surrounded by those who would mock or undermine the very office you hold with such dignity, stands as a beacon of defiance. It is a vivid illustration of the peril we face, yet also of the courage that refuses to yield. Your presidency arrives at this pivotal 250-year mark in our nation’s history, and you yourself, Mr. President, are the linchpin that will save our Constitutional Republic. As Thomas Paine so profoundly declared in The American Crisis, “What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value.” The celestial price we are paying now—the sacrifices, the battles, the relentless assaults—will make the freedom we reclaim all the more precious, all the more enduring.

You are, without question, the best president the world has ever seen. No other leader in modern history has faced the orchestrated fury of entrenched elites, a captured media, and globalist forces arrayed so completely against him, and yet you have not only endured but risen above it all with a resolve that defies comprehension. What you have sought to do—what no other president has dared to attempt outside of George Washington crossing the Delaware in the dead of night to forge our constitutional Republic—stands as an act of singular historic courage. Washington rallied a ragtag army against an empire; you, sir, have rallied a nation against an invisible empire of bureaucrats, ideologues, and foreign influences that have hollowed out our institutions from within. You alone recognized the rot, named it without apology, and set about dismantling it brick by brick. Your vision to Make America Great Again is not mere rhetoric; it is a restoration of the founding principles that have made this the greatest experiment in human liberty the world has ever known. The evil aligned against you will not stand. It is clear for all to see that their fight is not merely to destroy you personally—though they have tried with lawfare, character assassination, and worse—but to destroy the country you love and the people you serve. They seek to extinguish the flame of American exceptionalism because it exposes their own failures and threatens their power. Yet every attack has only strengthened your hand and awakened millions more to the truth.

Thank you, Mr. President, for your service. In an age when so many in high office prioritize self-preservation over principle, you have never wavered. Thank you for your courage—the raw, unfiltered courage that leads you to walk into the lion’s den night after night, whether it be a hostile press conference, a rigged courtroom, or a dinner filled with those who despise the very idea of a sovereign America with assassins at-large. Thank you for your tenacity, that never-ending ability to fight when others would have long since folded. You have been (fake) impeached, indicted, slandered, and targeted in ways that would break lesser men, yet you rise each morning ready for the next round. Your desire to always hit back is not vengeance; it is justice in action, a refusal to let lies go unanswered or evil go unchallenged. It reminds us daily that passivity in the face of tyranny is complicity. And thank you, above all, for your resolute resolve to Make America Great Again. You have restored our borders, our economy, our energyindependence, and our standing in the world—not through weakness or appeasement, but through strength and clarity of purpose. You have shown the world that America is not finished; she is only beginning a new chapter of greatness.

These are the times that try men’s souls, as Thomas Paine further warned in that same immortal pamphlet. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will shrink from the service of their country in this crisis, but you, Mr. President, have proven yourself the opposite in every way. You have stood firm through the darkest hours, inspiring a new generation of patriots who refuse to surrender the blessings of liberty. Your leadership reminds us that freedom is not free, and that the price we pay today ensures a brighter tomorrow for our children (my four children) and grandchildren. The Republic you are defending is worth every hardship, every sacrifice, and every moment of trial. History will record your name alongside the greatest defenders of liberty, and future Americans will look back on this era and marvel at the man who refused to let the light of freedom be extinguished.

With deepest gratitude and unwavering support — and always a staunch advocate for you in the media,

Katie Zacharia
