Palestinian Youth Movement Protest Stops Traffic On Golden Gate Bridge

‘Protesters want the reward without the risk now’

A Pro-Palestinian group blocked traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on Wednesday, resulting in traffic being snarled for about 30 minutes, with no arrests made.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), about 20 protesters from the Palestinian Youth Movement  arrived at about 7:45 A.M. and shut down traffic on the bridge by standing in the six lanes and protesting. However, CHP officers were quickly on the scene and, by using golf carts, quickly got them off the bridge by 8 A.M. By 8:15 A.M. traffic resumed in both lanes.

In a press release, the Palestinian Youth Movement said, “Dozens of Bay Area residents shut down the Golden Gate Bridge in response to Israel’s bombing of Rafah, to demand that President Biden stop supplying Israel with weapons and to call for an immediate ceasefire.

However, no arrests were made due to how fast the protest was broken up and because the protesters complied with the CHP.

“We discuss this all the time, and the response is very well coordinated,” CHP Officer Erid Edige told Fox News on Wednesday. “There’s a game plan for it.”

While the protest blocked traffic, it was dwarfed in comparison to previous protests in the area, such as a November 2023 protest on the Bay Bridge where around 200 protesters showed up and blocked traffic for several hours, resulting in 50 arrests and 15 of the protesters cars being towed. It also didn’t disrupt major functions outside of causing a traffic jam, unlike the January 2024 protest at the State Capitol Building. According to law enforcement experts, protestors have quickly learned what the limits are.

“Protesters want the reward without the risk now,” explained Sean Morrison, a law enforcement advisor who focuses on dealing with public disturbances, such as protests, to the Globe on Wednesday. “They know that, if you stay too long, you get arrest. You don’t comply with police, you get arrested. You leave your car there, it will get towed.”

“The Bridge protest today, it was just some kids who wanted attention, and they did it by making people mad they were late for work. Protest groups or striking workers or whoever decides to block traffic, well, they never get sympathy. Before these Palestinian protests, I was advising on the Just Stop Oil protests overseas, and motorists there were a bit more brazen, because they just rammed right through them on the roads.”

“Also, all they did was stop traffic for a time before the police asked them off. A lot of people felt that they should be arrested, but it seems like they complied. I don’t think they knew what ‘good trouble’ meant. They didn’t want to go to jail over their beliefs.”

“I think we’ll see more of these quickly complying protesters, especially if the Gaza war continues for longer. Quick attention, no one arrested, but they get on the news. All reward. No risk. A ton of people mad at them. Funny thing is, sometimes people stopped by protestors sympathize with them, but because they are made late, it helps change their mind. So, if anything, the protestors today had the opposite effect on more people most likely.”

Other protests are likely to occur in the coming months as the Israel-Hamas War continues.

  1. Too bad it was not raining when the Hamas supporters blocked the bridge, it would have been the first bath they have had in probably a month. What they need to do when these idiots block a highway or road is what Indian Reservation Police did in Nevada last summer. A bunch of global whining climate activists blocked a highway in the desert during 100 degree heat backing up traffic for miles. It was on Reservation land and the Police broke through the barricade and arrested the activists. I watched the video and the Police were not sympathetic or nice to the activists. It was good viewing!

  2. The best outcome would be for the US to deport the protesting Palestinian Youth Movement members to a Muslim country that enforces Sharia Law. They would learn quickly what people in that country think of their pink hair, nose, lip and tongue rings. Even better would be to watch the punks’ reaction when they attempt to protest Sharia Law.

  3. Democrat Assembly members who identify as being part of the Democrat Jewish legislative caucus continue to remain silent about these protestors that want to eliminate Israel chanting “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free.” Are these Democrat Assembly members practicing religious Jews or are they just radical leftist globalist secularists who pretend to be Jewish?
