CA is Dead Last in Survey of States with Fewest Coronavirus Restrictions

The lockdown it is not working for the economy or for those with COVID

By Katy Grimes, February 11, 2021 11:23 am

In month 11 of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s Coronavirus restrictions and lockdown of the state, the real damage is beginning to show.

Millions of Californians filed for unemployment benefits during Newsom’s government-ordered business shutdowns.

Hundreds of thousands of small businesses have permanently closed.

Public schools have been closed since last Spring. The SAT exam was cancelled. High schoolers have lost college opportunities, academic scholarships, and sports scholarships.

While other states have allowed athletics to return, California sports teams remain benched.

WalletHub just released a new report comparing the Coronavirus restrictions in the 50 states and District of Columbia, and California is dead last at number# 51. Virginia, known as “Little California,” is number# 50.

“While many more businesses are open now than were open a few months ago, and few states still have stay-at-home orders, the U.S. still has a ways to go to get to a full reopening,” WalletHub reports. “That won’t occur until we achieve widespread vaccination and curb the coronavirus pandemic. In the meantime, some states have put a temporary pause on moving to the next stage of reopening, or have even reversed course and closed certain businesses again due to surges in COVID-19 transmission.”

In order to determine the states with the fewest and the most strict coronavirus restrictions, WalletHub compared the states across 14 key metrics (listed below). The data set ranges from whether restaurants are open to whether the state has required face masks in public and workplace temperature screenings. Read on for the state ranking, additional insight from a panel of experts and a full description of our methodology.

  1. This suffocating oppression, under which we are still living, could have been entirely avoided if the state’s leadership had spent their propaganda slush funds on publicizing treatment options such as early intervention of the hydroxychloroquine cocktail, Ivermectin, etc. But they didn’t want to do that, did they? Too cheap, too effective, and — oh my — Trump touted it!

In fact, to point us in the right direction in the last YEAR would have meant that they couldn’t fiddle with our elections, write dozens of unconstitutional executive orders, impoverish small businesses, isolate and weaken us, cause needless mental illness and suicide, and sneak around doing only God knows what else. This has been the result of taking away our rights to move and speak freely, assemble, work, worship, and pursue happiness.

Now all we hear is the vaccine drumbeat, whose riskiness and cost and chaos could also have been avoided. This is accompanied by repetitive orders to keep our social distance, wear a mask, wash our hands, as if we hadn’t heard that 10 billion times already. And hey, by the way, continue to wear a mask AFTER you’ve been vaccinated! Maybe you should plan on wearing it forever!

This is completely surreal and absurd, and everyone knows it, and our politicians and bureaucrats seem to get off on everyone knowing it, after which they clamp down their jackboots on our necks even harder.

Always grateful to Katy Grimes for persistently covering this, and working so hard to give us the proper and truthful information, and never letting up for an instant. It has helped so many of us out here.

    1. YES, Showandtell. This is the part of the conversation that the hardcore “science” believers are failing to recognize. We don’t deny that this is a deadly disease – but what if these people could have been saved through FDA-approved, inexpensive treatments that were already available, yet somehow the lack of “evidence” deemed them just too dangerous? And yet we should blindly trust this v-a-c-c-i-n-e even though there is no evidence there, either, that it actually protects you or doesn’t harm your health? The hypocrisy is too obvious. Sometimes I still feel like I’m living in a nightmare, or at best, some type of weird video game.

At the end of the day, our health (mental/physical) is not going to be “saved” by some new State agency. No one is coming to save us. But the government wants to hold that role, and too many people are far too eager to accept it as truth and “science.” It has become a religion.

      1. YES K, agree. One of the upsides of this bad dream is that since we are all subject to the same experience of it we are able, through outlets like The Globe, to have a reality check on what our gut is telling us —- something that was not entirely possible before, even with online doctor reviews and such. With a little luck there will be changes in the medical establishment, at the very least, as people who see the bigger picture revealed will stream over to physicians who did the right thing early on. Many of the censored America’s Frontline Doctors, by the way, said they had treated tens of thousands of patients successfully with the early-intervention therapeutics. Those accounts can be added to others who had success, making it no longer merely anecdotal as has been charged. And now that Biden is in (no comment) the studies on those drugs are trickling out to replace the mocking and belittling and smearing of those doctors that occurred before.

      2. It’s interesting that you mention “evidence.” In the early stages of this “pandemic,” some people did point out that there was no evidence indicating that nationwide lockdowns or stay-at-home orders had any effect on slowing the rate of spread of a disease. There was no such evidence because nothing so preposterous had ever been tried, and for good reason.

What’s so upsetting about all of this is that now we know what all the effects are. We know how the disease works, we know that no healthy person under the age of 70 really needs to worry about it, we know that schools don’t spread it, we know that many treatments that are commonly (and safely) used for other diseases are completely effective against it, and yet we still have people who seem to honestly believe that there’s a good reason for us to be living in – not a video game, but in my view more like – this dystopian, sci-fi, horror film.

As a teacher myself, I have been opposed to the closing of schools since before they closed them, and am even more so now. And LA isn’t just dragging its feet, they are steadfastly opposed to the re-opening of schools. The problem is, how do you argue with a person who believes something that is patently untrue? I mean, at this point it’s the equivalent of trying to argue with someone who, due to marketing forces to which they are constantly subjected, believes the sky is orange. It’s not orange, but they believe it is because that’s what they’ve been told. What do you say to that?

I mentioned sci-fi horror earlier. At least, back in 1938 the media eventually had the decency to admit that the War of the Worlds broadcast was a hoax. It’s clear we’re never going to get that this time.

        1. Teacher 47: Great points, all of them. You especially nailed it with the crux of the problem: “How to do you argue with a person who believes something that is patently untrue?” That is indeed the main problem. You can’t argue with them. Well, you can, but it won’t get you anywhere and will probably make things worse. Our petty dictators know this. They know that by making henchmen out of one’s neighbors and fellow citizens through fear and propaganda they don’t really need to do much else.
But by calmly speaking up when we need to at least we are on the record and some people may re-think the nonsense and maybe it will chip away at it. There are A LOT of people in this state who think like we do, whether we see and hear them or not. (As you know.)

  2. This will never end , government at all levels has been empowered to be ruthless. Seeing cops carrying out these orders is even more chilling.

  3. Questions to ponder. Are the Moderna, Pzier, Astra-Zeneca et al vaccines really vaccines? Do they meet the standard definition of vaccines which impart immunity to a disease condition? If you receive them will they keep you from catching Covid-19? Or will they make you more susceptible to mutated Coronaviruses? Why are we reading of people who received the two shots coming down with Covid?

Do your research before you bare your arm to the needle.

    1. Tom: The thing is, we don’t KNOW at this point. I personally think the “variants” and “mutations” are inventions to keep the fear going, only because most of us understandably are now reluctant to put our faith and trust in “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” Why would we? Step back and look at the whole picture cold. Zero tolerance of a respiratory virus? It has to be GONE before the state opens up? Are you kidding me? When has that ever happened? I reject the premise! We really need to fine-tune our B.S. Detectors to know what information to keep and what to throw out. Not just about this but about everything. And to me this All-Covid-All-The-Time atmosphere ALONE tells us it’s a ploy and a scheme. As you know.

      1. Absolutely!!!

We are being PLAYED by nefarious forces…

We don’t get the regular flu shots and we’re DARN not gonna get a mRNA gene mutation injection…

        This is ORWELLIAN….

  4. It’s no surprise the most COVID restrictive states are completely controlled by authoritarian, dictatorial, totalitarian Democrats? How many of those Democrats have also been paid off by the CCP?

    1. True that… And I wager that percentage is way north of 95% in the tank for the very source of the plandemic….

  5. “Better than a shot in the arm: forty speakers you need to hear before you put your health in the hands of Bill Gates.”
