Sacramento Mayor Steinberg Will Order Masks Worn in Public While Homeless Still Defecate on streets

CDC found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks

Days after it was reported the Sacramento region has the lowest reported coronavirus infection rate among the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the country, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg called on county health officials to require residents to wear masks in public as the county allows businesses to reopen following the coronavirus shut down.

Notably, Sacramento’s 6,000 homeless vagrants are still roaming the streets defecating in public, passed out on city streets, camping under and along freeways, and breaking into cars, garages, homes, sheds and stealing whatever they can. And they are not wearing masks.

“In a surprise finding, the Sacramento region has the lowest reported coronavirus infection rate among the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the country, according to a Sacramento Bee analysis,” the Sacramento Bee reported May 2nd.

“The Bee review of metros with more than 1 million residents showed the highest per capita rates are in larger and older East Coast and Midwest cities, where people often live closer together, and in many cases where leaders were slower to impose “stay at home” orders. The highest rates are in the New York City and northern New Jersey area, followed by New Orleans and Boston.”

May 4th, the Bee reported, “Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg called on county health officials Tuesday to require residents to wear masks in public when the county allows more businesses to reopen following the coronavirus shut down.”

“The mask issue has been voluntary in Sacramento County and I understand that,” Steinberg said Tuesday during a Facebook live video. “But as we transition and as we open back up, it is going to be even more important that when we are out in public that we have that extra layer of protection, not just for ourselves but for each other, and wear masks.”

“And I am going to call on our county health officials to change that mask order, the mask issue, from voluntary to mandatory.”

Never let the facts get in the way of your agenda

Nowhere in the May 4th Bee article announcing the mask requirement was it noted that the Bee just reported that the Sacramento region has the lowest reported coronavirus infection rate among the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the country.

Yolo County, with 67 total cases and 19 deaths from coronavirus, announced last week that masks are required in public. Los Angeles also now requires masks.

San Diego County health officials recently ordered everyone to wear a mask in public.

Sacramento County has 1,127 total confirmed positive cases of coronavirus, with 47 deaths. Also notable, the CDC has corrected its numbers down: California’s total deaths due to coronavirus are 1,224, not 2,200. And total deaths in the US is 37,308, not 66,000.

“The Center for Disease Control did a pool analysis of 10 RCTs that examined the impact of face masks on reducing influenza infections within a community,” California Globe reported in “Why I’m Not Wearing a Mask.” “They concluded that these studies “found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks.” These studies covered a wide range of environmental settings from University dorms to households, but the results were the same across them all.”

“’There is limited evidence for their [masks] effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission,’ they found. This applied to masks ‘worn by the infected person for source control OR when worn by uninfected persons.’ They unambiguously concluded that there was ‘no significant effect of face masks on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.’”

Mayor Steinberg and the Sacramento County health officer may want to read the May 2020 CDC report before pretending they have the authority to order residents to wear masks in public.

  1. You see how these good-for-nothing leaders have you between a rock and a hard place with this stuff? An individual who makes a decision to “take the risk” is not just potentially hurting himself but everyone he comes in contact with, or so they would have you believe. L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti said we were “killing people” by not obeying his orders. (!!!!)

Long ago in my city something as seemingly stupid as water restriction mandates —- before they became widespread —- began to tear apart my neighborhood. Example: An old lady with whom I had a friendly, nodding acquaintance as she took her daily walk one day stared daggers at me as I went after a brown spot on the front grass with a hose (now of course we virtue signal our dead grass) as if I were personally taking the drinking water out of her mouth in doing it. I don’t blame her, but what the heck are we supposed to do — give innocent old ladies a treatise on how the city only wants to raise water rates as another hidden tax and couldn’t care less about water conservation? With this kind of thing going on they don’t even NEED to have the water monitors come out and issue citations.

I’m sorry but many of us are going to have to refuse to go along with this nonsense and ignore the snitch heckling. If enough people do it the tattletales will lose their power over time. I know in many places you think you may be denied entry but I wonder if even that is real or will turn out to be mythological as a practical matter.

  2. So we spend how much on chemtrails, Space Force, Military, Atomic weapons upgrades, Deep Underground Bases, Black ops and drug dealing all over the world (CIA). But we don’t give a crap about these people. Oh there thieves, there drug addicts. What a sorry bunch of armchair quarterbacks we have.

  3. Turns out the CDC did not change the number of deaths. The report this writer refers to states the numbers are based on death certificates which are far behind the actual numbers. Being an investigative reporter she probably knows that but chose to ignore it and put forth a false narrative that suits her agenda. Sad.

  4. It says right on the report they are provisional numbers and are 1-2 weeks behind. How does the writer pretend these are the actual numbers? Seems dishonest to me.

    1. It also says right on the report: “Data as of May 5, 2020”
The CDC has also updated the numbers since I posted this yesterday. So I think they are current. The point is that the CDC drastically reduced the numbers.

      1. No Katie, what you forgot to say is all Drs. Are being told to write vivid-19 on death certificates even if that wasn’t cause of death. So the numbers are OVER inflated!

      2. They absolutely did not reduce the numbers. Again, you are looking at provisional numbers. And in the report it says they are 1-2 weeks behind. You are intentionally misleading people because that goes along with your premise and that is wrong.

        1. Matt, I just was on a conference call with doctors who said the CDC did in fact adjust their COVID numbers because with additional scrutiny, they re-classified many of the supposedly COVID deaths as seasonal influenza. This is because hospitals have been coding all deaths as COVID for the higher reimbursement. So today’s numbers are 39,110 COVID deaths, and 67,332 seasonal flu deaths.

          1. Again, if the data is 1-2 weeks behind then you are misleading people because you have an agenda and reporting 39k deaths and implying some big mistake was made furthers your agenda. Every reputable media outlet shows over 70k deaths and you knowingly use incomplete data to report less than 40k and overlook the fact the report says the data is incomplete. So why report it as if it is complete? Because it serves your agenda. Poor reporting and you know it.

  5. ^^^^ Check out troll-boy here…
Straight out of Alinsky : repeat the narrative until you believe it as truth, even when presented with facts to the contrary…

  6. Don’t present “Matt” with the facts that the rabid TDS leftist control freaks don’t want published, that the physicians are getting paid more to report deaths as Covid-19, when they died WITH the virus, not FROM the virus….

    1. You have to be kidding. I’m the one presenting facts while others quote right wing conspiracy talking points. Such as all deaths are being labeled coronavirus, the deaths are overstated. No fact was presented that refuted anything in my comments. How about your if next post actually adds to the conversation?

    2. Congress, in the Cares stimulus allocated extra money for covid patients because the hospitals cannot do their normal work. They would be losing money. The stimulus adds 20% or something along those lines. So you think doctors will commit felonies so their hospital will make more money? That is insane. BTW, that is part of the right wing conspiracy theory and that is the part that gets a “truth” grade. As far as all deaths being labeled as coronavirus, no evidence of that has ever surfaced – That part gets a “False” grade.

  7. I do believe they are inflating the death toll. They have too so they can keep this panic alive. Man dies from a gunshot, he has covid 19. They mark him down as a covid 19 death. Critical thinking folks. Do your research. They shut the country and state down for nothing

  8. You have to be kidding. I’m the one presenting facts while others quote right wing conspiracy talking points. Such as all deaths are being labeled coronavirus, the deaths are overstated. 1. we Had covid 8 weeks ago, we have covid today. What’s changed. Congress got some of their agenda passed and a lot of money and more debt. They paid us $1200 to keep our mouth shut. It’s okay to get the flu now. This is all BS. We are all pawns if Pelosi’s political agenda.

  9. Why don’t they just clean up the S^!7 in the streets so we won’t have to walk around with face masks to avoid smelling it.
