Hochman Dwarfs Gascon in Campaign Funds
35 times more money

For most of us, having $48,462.73 in our checking account would not be a bad thing at all.
But for Los Angeles District Attorney George Gacon, it’s a nightmare.
According to the latest campaign finance filings – they cover donations and expenditures up until September 21 – that is what Gascon has in the bank.
His opponent Nathan Hochman has $1,686,832.20 in the bank.
That is 35 times more with just a month or so left.
Even more problematic for Gascon is that Hochman raised $1,084,676.03 between July 1 and Sept. 21 – Gascon raised just $192,143.22.
Extrapolating these numbers, it would essentially mean that every dime Gascon raises between now and election day would not go to getting his “message” out but to simply pay his campaign consultants.
Conversely, Hochman has raised so much he has hit the legal(ish) limit of $2.5 million allowed to be raised in this particular election. Since he has already done that, every contribution from now on, his campaign said, will go to the “LA County DA Foundation,” which will “support programs that assist crime victims, youth education and re-entry programs to prevent recidivism.”
By the way, even on the amazingly off-chance possibility Gascon beats Hochman in November, the Foundation will continue to exist.
Additionally, an independent pro-Hoffman political action committee called “The Working Families, First Responders, and Small Businesses for a Safer LA County” has $3 raised to support Hochman and has already released this TV/internet ad:
For Gascon – his campaign did not respond to a request for comment – this situation has to be bitter karma, especially considering the people who are NOT dropping truckloads of cash on him like they did in his 2020 victory.
From a previous piece on Gascon’s funding failures this time around:
Who is doing the giving also bodes poorly for Gascon. In the 2020 election, Gascon raised about $9 million between now and voting day. The vast majority of that funding – about $7 million – came from only 10 donors, with George Soros and Patty Quillan – wife of the founder of LinkedIn – leading the way.
Soros has not donated to Gascon at all this time, a telling fact as Soros is known throughout the political community for not funding people he thinks will lose, no matter their past association. To be blunt, Soros didn’t get that rich by throwing good money after bad.
Soros does not appear to be alone in thinking Gascon is a no-hoper. In 2020, the “four horsewomen of the woke apocalypse” played a key role and now their support has nearly evaporated.
The four – Quinn Delaney, wife of a San Francisco developer (note – I’d start saving your money, Quinn), Kaitlyn Krieger, wife of the guy who co-founded Instagram, Patty Quillin, wife of the guy who started Netflix, and Elizabeth Simons, daughter of a hedge fund billionaire…you get the idea – helped make sure Gascon got the job by dropping about $3.1 million dollars, either on their own or through their political action committee, Smart Justice.
In the past two and half months, the four have dropped $6,000 on Gascon’s campaign. In the previous $39,000 and that totals $45,000, or about 1.5% of the amount they gave last time.
Gulp. Actually, double gulp.
Actually, triple gulp – polls have consistently shown a near two to one advantage for Hochman.
In other words, if I were of a mind to rob a bank I’d do it now to get a “Gascon special” deal.
Like, really soon.

I am very very proud to support Nathan Hochman . He’s truly a great candidate because his goals are to make sure that our communities will be safer and crime doesn’t pay . Nathan will definitely help to clean up the streets by prosecuting those who are hurting others with violence , including robbery , burglary , homicide and many other crimes that now need review. There should never have been soft crime . The gangs on the street need to be accountable for their bad behavior .
John Kobylt, host of the John Kobylt Show at KFI, once invited DA George Gascon to come on his show when Gascon made an unannounced visit to KFI to make a PSA telling Angelenos to give him another 4 years as their DA. In fact, Mr. Kobylt was gonna give Gascon the whole 3 hours of his show so Gascon could state unequivocally why Los Angeles is safer now than when Jackie Lacy (his predecessor) was the DA. He could also state why his rival, Nathan Hochman, would be a worse DA than him. Gascon quickly backed away from the invitation. He even had the nerve to ask Mr. Kobylt whether or not he should bring 2 guns and wear body armor to the show.
What a blockhead and a coward. Bye, bye, Gascon.
