One of the most contentious State Senate races remains stagnant as former Democratic Assemblywomen Anna Caballero attempts to hold off Republican Rob Poythress in their bid to become Senator.
The poll casts Anna Caballero (D) 48 percent as well as Rob Poythress (R) with 48 percent.
The pollster notes “this Central Coast seat shows an incredibly close race between Assemblywoman Anna Caballeroand farmer Rob Poythress,” while also adding “the divisions by party are clear, but Poythress is able to make up for the slightly lower Republican registration disadvantage by gaining nearly 20-points among independent voters while Caballero has a significant lead among Latinos.”
Poythress, the former County Supervisor and small business owner is running on issues such as education, balanced budget and law enforcement. He has been endorsed by Congressman Jeff Denham, California Peace Officers Association and Stanislaus County Farm Bureau.
Election Day voters and Monday and Tuesday’s mail-in-ballots were not included in the poll. 262 total people were surveyed.
