Scary Governor Newsom
Newsom is using your personal income and sales tax dollars to fund his self-aggrandizement campaign
By John Moorlach, October 31, 2025 3:45 am

I served in the California State Senate for six years, from 2015 to 2020. While there I was given an office on the second floor not far from being able to observe what occured on the first floor of the former annex to the State Capitol.
The Lieutenant Governor’s office was on the first floor. But for the first four years in Sacramento, I never saw Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom in his office, in the shared underground garage, anywhere, unless it was for a combined Legislative session, like the Governor’s State of the State. Why do I mention this? Because his service in this elected position seemed superficial to me.
Since Newsom was elected to Governor, I’ve been receiving multiple emails from him per day on his activities. I’m sure they are part communication, part press release. And I’m sure anyone can be added to the email blasts if they request it.
In recent months, the Governor’s emails have taken a turn from chest thumping to attack pieces. And I’m starting to wonder if he is using government funds for a personal agenda. It’s as if he is weaponizing what should be public service announcements (PSAs) to beat up on someone he has created as his nemesis. It’s unbecoming. And it’s known as “a gift of public funds” to many of those who have served in elected office, his missives border on being frightening.
Let me provide some recent examples.
October 30th:
“California deploys search and rescue personnel to Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa.” This is a nice gesture, but what are the other 49 states doing to assist an international neighbor that is not a state or territory? Thanks to Newsom spending away his $100 billion surplus and not paying down and reducing the state’s debts, like most of us would do when we get an unexpected bonus, California now has budget shortfalls. Why does Gavin feel compelled to continue using “California’s expertise to help communities across the world?” Gavin, you’re running a state, not a nation.
October 30th:
“Governor Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom announce that an expansion in the Golden Bear Pass has ensured families who receive public assistance have greater access to state parks.” What relationship does the first lady have with state parks? And why give free passe to poorer members of our community, when they can’t even afford the high price of gasoline to get to these locations? One gets the impression that California is Newsom’s personal slush fund, like he’s running a private foundation instead of a state.
October 30th:
“After months of negotiations, the City of San Jose has agreed to collaborate with Caltrans to address unsheltered homelessness within its city limits.” Really? A department of transportation has to assist a city government with its homeless population? If the homeless are residing on state property, where was Newsom all this time? And why literally announce that you’ve been derelict in dealing with this problem and using it instead as material for a publicity stunt?
October 29:
It gets worse. We’re underwriting Newsom’s Presidential campaign.
“As Trump cuts fire response, Governor Newsom expands the state’s fire prevention strategy using proven beneficial fire techniques.” What did the Governor do? He issued “an executive order directing state agencies to reduce red tape and expand tools to safely deploy prescribed fire.” Newsom has been Governor longer than Trump has been President. Why hasn’t he focused on controlled burns before. Can anyone say Pacific Palisades or Eaton? Who can think of a better case of a pot calling the kettle black?
October 28:
“Governor Newsom’s expansion of California Highway Patrol’s presence in the Bay Area has helped reduce crime and increase public safety by seizing illicit drugs and taking firearms off the streets.” He’s been in office nearly seven years and now Newsom clues in that additional assistance is needed for our local public safety officials. But having the National Guard employed is anathema? Speaking out of both sides of his mouth is getting very tiring for Californians.
I could go on for pages. But examples from just two days of his self-adulating emails should tell you that Newsom is using your personal income and sales tax dollars to fund his self-aggrandizement campaign.
I know it’s Halloween season, but this scary hyperbole and screams of Gavin shouting “look at me, look at me, I’m a great guy” should send real chills up your spine. The state budget belongs to the people; it is not a candy store for Newsom’s whims and wishes. This is a state, not a private foundation. And our Governor must figure this out, and soon. Or his successor will be caught holding a heavy, debt burdened bag. Stop it with the tricks and treats, already.

He’s also and assuredly funding with our tax dollars a lavish prop 50 victory party catered by The French Laundry.
Have you been invited?
Hair-gel Hitler Newsom’s loyal troll Eyeinthesky seems to be revealing that the Prop. 50 election has already been stolen with their usual Democrat voter fraud? No doubt Eyeinthesky has an invitation to attend Hair-gel Hitler Newsom’s spirit cooking celebration where they’ll probably feast on aborted baby parts and guzzle baby’s blood and adrenochrome being the demonic Democrats that they are? They’re scary as hell?
Hey TJ, I spoke briefly with King Gavin earlier today. He’s agreed to ensure you receive an invite to the Prop 50 victor party. Additionally, I conveyed to Gavin in limited detail your issues with him. In order to bring you albeit limited satisfaction, Gavin has agreed to discretely and briefly allow you to run your fingers through his “gelled hair” thus quelling temporarily you obviously fixation for his cranial growth.
Who knows, this could lead to a lasting relationship and clear the way for a sustained nurturing of your fetish for “gelled” hair.
Glad I can be of help
Eyeinthesky
Not interested in being anywhere near a satanic entity like Hair-gel Hitler Newsom or attending his demonic Democrat orgies. Now get on your broom and fly away evil troll.
Last I knew french laundry was $300.00 a single meal. I could slam Newsom all day long like like kitchen staff tenderizing meat with mallets but will instead make the observation that he could out talk a whole bus load of overcaffeinated italians with his hands. It’s like looking the the blades of an airborne helicopter.
Ha ha – so true
He thinks we are all Gettys, willing to provide for his big dreams.
The GREEDY, GREASY, GAVIN, GOBLIN is more than happy to trick or treat with other peoples money! He can’t help himself, he was raised on Wonderbread and Mac and Cheese. Would somebody please hand him a pack of raisins and send him on his way?

Ha HA —- no kidding, ‘fog’ works too
Senator Moorlach needs to declare for California Governor in 2026.
California needs adult leadership with financial and managerial experience such that Senator Moorlach can provide!!!
Unfortunately Moorlach was instrumental in crafting Orange County policies that facilitate borrowing higher sums of money to sustain public benefits beyond the country’s affordability.
Orange County’s priority is now to maintain the public employees enrichment stream rather than constrain spending consistent with serving the civilian populace residents and forgoing tax increases.
Moorlach is not who or what he appears to be.
Hair-gel Hitler Newsom’s evil Democrat troll Eyeinthesky is making up crap about John Moorlach who hasn’t been involved with Orange County’s government since 2015 and he hasn’t held state public office since 2020.
Democrats have controlled the Orange County Board of Supervisors with 3-2 majority since 2022. Shari Freidenrich is the current Treasurer-Tax Collector for Orange County, California, a position she has held since assuming office in 2010.
John Moorlach is a certified public accountant and certified financial planner who is recognized as a leading expert on municipal bankruptcies. He first came to public attention by predicting the largest municipal bond portfolio loss and bankruptcy in U.S. history while campaigning for the office of Orange County Treasurer–Tax Collector against incumbent Democrat Robert Citron in 1994. Citron resigned later that year and was replaced on an interim basis by Tom Daxon. On March 17, 1995, Moorlach was appointed to fill the vacancy. In 1996 he was elected by the voters to complete the unexpired term, and re-elected in 1998 and 2002, serving nearly twelve years.
John Moorlach played a central role in resolving Orange County’s bankruptcy following its declaration in December 1994, which resulted from risky investment strategies by then-Treasurer Robert Citron that led to an estimated $1.64–$1.67 billion in losses.
Upon taking office, Moorlach reorganized the Treasurer’s office, reduced financial risks, cut costs, and improved efficiency and transparency in government financial operations. He helped stabilize the county’s finances by working with creditors, freezing salaries, deferring infrastructure projects, and reducing the workforce through attrition rather than layoffs. Under his leadership, Orange County exited Chapter 9 bankruptcy in just 18 months without raising sales taxes.
Moorlach also played a key role in securing over $800 million in litigation settlements from Wall Street firms that had participated in the risky investment schemes, one of the largest recoveries of its kind at the time. By June 1996, the county was able to sell $880 million in long-term bonds to cover short-term debts and officially emerge from bankruptcy. His actions restored public trust and earned him a national reputation as an expert in municipal finance and fiscal recovery.
In 2006, he opted not to run for re-election as Treasurer–Tax Collector and he instead ran for Orange County Supervisor for District 2, winning 70% of the vote and he held that office until 2015. From 2015 to 2020, Moorlach was a state Senator for the 37th district. In the fall of 2020, Moorlach narrowly lost his bid for re-election to Dave Min the drunk driving Democrat and communist UC Irvine law professor.
Hair-gel Hitler Newsom’s evil Democrat troll Eyeinthesky is trying to deflect for the criminal Democrat thug mafia who are to blame for any problems that currently exist in Orange County.
Valuable information as usual, TJ. This time on John Moorlach’s background and record. Grateful.
Agree. Thank you TJ for taking the time to present facts.
California could really use a guy such as John Moorlach who actually recovered money to get the county out of debt! Imagine if our current leaders in government put to use those very skills for good instead of greed! Instead we have an estimated 20 billion dollar deficit with no end in sight.
Proof is in the numbers.
Yes TJ. Eye*** passing gas(light) again. Flatulation to the max from the leftist troll.
