FBI Seizes Eric Swalwell’s Electronic Devices at SFO, Raids DC Home in Expanding Sexual Misconduct Probe

The actions form part of a criminal probe tied to claims of rape, sexual assault, unsolicited explicit messages, and other misconduct by several women, including a former staffer

In a dramatic escalation of the federal investigation into multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and assault against disgraced former California Congressman Eric Swalwell, FBI agents confronted the one-time Democratic rising star at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday night, seized his electronic devices under a search warrant, and the following day executed a search of his Washington, D.C., residence.

Fox News congressional correspondent Bill Melugin provided details of the weekend operation, confirming through sources familiar with the matter that agents served Swalwell with a warrant upon his arrival at SFO, confiscating at least his cellphone and other electronics. Agents then searched the Northeast D.C. home he shares with his wife and children on Sunday; neither Swalwell nor his family was present. He was not arrested or detained and reportedly cooperated.

The actions form part of a criminal probe tied to claims of rape, sexual assault, unsolicited explicit messages, and other misconduct by several women, including a former staffer.

In an exclusive report by the Daily Mail, devices taken include a cellphone, laptops, tablets, USB drives, and other digital media. One search warrant obtained by local reporting referenced seizure of an iPhone and MacBook Pro under a civil-rights statute. The FBI and Swalwell’s attorney have not commented publicly; Swalwell has previously denied criminal wrongdoing while acknowledging vague “mistakes.”

This latest chapter marks yet another humiliating descent in what California Globe has extensively documented as Swalwell’s spectacular fall from grace. Once a cable-news fixture, House Intelligence Committee member, and frontrunner for California governor after launching his campaign on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Swalwell’s political career collapsed in April 2026 amid the groundswell of allegations from multiple women.

A former staffer told the San Francisco Chronicle and CNN that Swalwell sexually assaulted her twice—once while she worked for him in his district office and again in 2024 in New York—when she was too intoxicated to consent. Additional women came forward with accounts of predatory behavior, explicit Snapchats, and in one case claims of being drugged, raped, and choked.

California Globe reporting had long highlighted the open-secret nature of Swalwell’s reputation among Bay Area and Capitol Hill insiders, the protective silence of Democratic leadership and media allies, and the hypocrisy of a politician who built his brand lecturing others on ethics and “protecting women.”

Rumors of misconduct had circulated for years, yet the same California institutions that propelled him faced little accountability until the public reporting forced the issue.

Adding further context, the White House this week released declassified FBI files detailing Swalwell’s earlier admitted “physical relations” with Christine Fang (“Fang Fang”), a suspected Chinese intelligence operative who fundraised for him and helped place interns. Those records, long sought by critics and previously blocked, underscore a pattern of compromised judgment, foreign influence risks, and institutional failures.

Swalwell, who rose from Alameda County prosecutor and Dublin City Council to Congress by defeating a longtime incumbent, now finds his devices in federal hands and his once-bright future reduced to defending against serious criminal allegations.

California Globe will keep following the facts that establishment outlets preferred to ignore for far too long.
