Eric Swalwell’s Political Belly Flop: Resigns From Congress Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Only one day after suspending his campaign for California Governor, Eric Swalwell announced Monday mid-day that he was resigning from Congress, amid multiple alleged sexual assault charges.

Swalwell announced his resignation on his X page, but still denies the allegations made against him in a statement:

“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make,” Swalwell said in the statement.

“Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made is wrong,” Swalwell said in his statement.

However, in 2023, when then-Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was under an ethics investigation in Congress, Swalwell wondered what was taking so long to oust the Republican Congressman. “I was in the camp of ‘what the hell is taking you so long?'” Swalwell told host Ali Velshi on MSNBC. Swalwell said Santos admitted to defrauding voters, but Republicans wanted to keep him around as long as he was useful to them.

Isn’t that what then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi did with Swalwell… kept him around as long as he was useful to her?

Swalwell’s alleged exploits have rocked California’s Democratic establishment just weeks before the June primary, as he and Democrats are facing an avalanche of political fallout.

Sunday he announced:

“I am suspending my campaign for Governor. To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made — but that’s my fight, not a campaign’s,” Swalwell posted to X late Sunday.

I highlighted Swalwell’s arrogance and self righteousness, lying about President Donald Trump’s character, demanding that Trump resign. Swalwell accused others of abusing women – Justice Brett Kavanaugh, specifically.
