First Partner to Tackle Loneliness in Newly Created ‘Social Health Council,’ after the WHO Commission on Social Connection

Huh? ‘Loneliness is a public health priority?’ Is this a joke, because it’s stupid

First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom last week announced the launch of the “first-ever California Social Health Council to beat loneliness.” She said she will “bring together leaders from across the state to advance social connection and address loneliness as a public health priority.”

Huh? “Loneliness as a public health priority?” Is this a joke, because it’s stupid.

“The Social Health Council brings together leaders across sectors—including state and local government, academia, tribal, faith and community organizations — to develop recommendations to strengthen opportunities for Californians to build meaningful connections and feel a sense of belonging,” the Governor’s wife says.

What about all of California’s school kids locked down in their homes during Covid, with schools closed, ordered there by Governor Gavin Newsom, her hubby? A little lonely, maybe? Ms. Newsom didn’t seem to have much to say about that during 2020-2023, Gov. Newsom’s three years of statewide lockdowns, while the Newsoms vacationed at a $29K per Night dacha in Cabo San Lucaswent on a book tour for his children’s book, got caught dining in Napa Valley at a large dinner party at the French Laundry, violating his own COVID stay-at-home orders, and lived their best lives.

Here is Siebel Newsom’s BIG announcement:

BIG NEWS: California just launched its first-ever Social Health Council! We’re one of the first states in the nation to prioritize social health alongside physical and mental health, bringing leaders across sectors together to build a statewide roadmap for stronger connection and belonging, Siebel Newsom posted to X.

She sounds like a mental moron.

I would ask Ms. Newsom to keep her pert nose out of my connection and belonging.

Where does this shite come from?

Aha. The World Health Organization.

Siebel Newsom says the “WHO has identified social connection as a critical component of health and well-being, alongside physical and mental health. Its Commission on Social Connection has called for greater investment in the social infrastructure, policies, and community-level solutions that help people connect and belong.”

Of course they looked to the WHO for another useless state-run council of eggheads.

Siebel Newsom claims:

In the United States, opportunities for everyday connection remain limited. Only 36% of adults report getting together with people in their neighborhood at least once a year to do something positive for the community, while 44% report that they only sometimes, rarely, or never receive the social and emotional support they need.

Oh no. Sad face. “Only 36% of adults report getting together with people in their neighborhood at least once a year to do something positive for the community.

Would that involve digging through your neighbor’s recycling bin, and reporting them to the green authorities? Or getting together to report neighbors who illegally run their sprinklers more than one day a week?

Why can’t you just get together with people in the neighborhood for fun – a margarita and nachos party, a donut and coffee feast, vegan dogs on the grille (nope), or a smoked brisket and a corn hole tourney?

Okay, there are other ways to combat loneliness – take a class, join a church, join a gym, volunteer at a favorite museum, start a book club, read to children, play tennis or pickleball, take a walk at the same time everyday and say hi to the people you see on your walk, hang out at a favorite coffee hot spot, visit a neighborhood bar regularly, call your mom, get a dog, get a cat, sponsor/adopt a zoo animal, take a job at Home Depot… I could keep going.

Siebel Newsom’s new Council will focus on three key goals:

  • Awareness: Elevate loneliness and social isolation as a public health priority in California.

  • Connection across sectors: Create a recurring forum for academics, community-based organizations, faith and tribal leaders, mayors, and state agencies to align efforts.

  • Roadmap: Develop a roadmap for California to advance the recommendations of the World Health Organization’s Commission on Social Connection and strengthen the state’s solutions for social isolation.

This is sounding very expensive for taxpayers.

Since when does anyone turn to the government to solve a mental health problem? We have 190,000 examples of mental health problems living on California streets, thanks to Gov. Gavin Newsom spending $37 Billion taxpayer dollars on then, resulting many many many empty tiny homes, empty apartments, unused sheds, and very expensive remodeled no-tell motels.

Here is how you know this new council is a total fraud: it’s made up of “leaders from state and local government, community organizations, and academia.”

OMG.

My shocked face:

This is my shocked face.

The First Partner, aka the Governor’s wife, details the latest scheme:

California’s first-ever Social Health Council consists of leaders from state and local government, community organizations, and academia to foster social connection throughout the state. Here are the council members:

Co-chairs

  • First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom
  • Secretary Kim Johnson, California Health and Human Services Agency
  • Josh Fryday, Director, Chief Service Officer, Governor’s Office of Service and Community Engagement

State Government

  • Brooks Allen, Executive Director, California State Board of Education
  • Michelle Baass, Director, California Department of Health Care Services
  • Peter Cervinka, Director, California Department of Developmental Services
  • Greg Lucas, State Librarian, California State Library
  • Erica Pan, Director, State Public Health Officer, California Department of Public Health
  • Armando Quintero, Director, California Department of Parks and Recreation
  • Dr. Diana Ramos, California Surgeon General
  • Kim Rutledge, Director, California Department of Rehabilitation
  • Nicole Shimosaka, Chief Deputy Director, California Department of Aging
  • Darcy Totten, Executive Director, California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls
  • Jen Troia, Director, California Department of Social Services

Local Government

  • Mayor Karen Bass, City of Los Angeles
  • Mayor Jerry Dyer, City of Fresno
  • Mayor Gabe Quinto, City of El Cerrito

Forgive me while I run to the vomitorium to retch. Karen Bass is on the California Social Health Council? That’s rich. The nasty cow can’t even facilitate the Pacific Palisades rebuild 19 months after fires burned down 6,000 homes. And she’s supposed to care about people suffering from loneliness?

The California Social Health Council is presented by the state as a next step that builds on the First Partner’s California Love, California Strong initiative, “to combat loneliness and strengthen social connection across the state,” launched in February. Also “inspired by the World Health Organization Commission on Social Connection Report, “From Loneliness to Social Connection: Charting a Path to Healthier Societies”, California Love, California Strong champions self-care, social connection, and service through volunteerism and culturally relevant engagements that strengthen belonging and resilience across California’s communities.

Is Jennifer Siebel Newsom an influencer for the World Health Organization?

Interestingly, here is GO-Serve Director Josh Fryday’s comment for Siebel Newsom’s launch of the first-ever California Social Health Council to beat loneliness:

“At a time when screens dominate our lives and social connection continues to slip away, service has never been more essential,” said GO-Serve Director Josh Fryday. “The Social Health Council brings together experts from state and local government, academic institutions, and nonprofits to create a blueprint for meaningful change. By serving our communities and working together, we can strengthen California’s social health and turn the tide for people across the state.”

This is his statement at the launch in February of Siebel Newsom’s California Love, California Strong:

“California is leading the way in strengthening belonging, building social connection and addressing social isolation. Events like today show the power of service to bring people together. When we serve together, we connect to something bigger than ourselves and build meaningful relationships with our communities and one another,” said Josh Fryday, GO-Serve Director and California Chief Service Officer.”

Here is Kim Johnson, Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency’s comment for Siebel Newsom’s launch of the first-ever California Social Health Council to beat loneliness:

“We know that when relationships, environments, and social conditions break down, the effects of loneliness and isolation can be profound,  impacting our health, quality of life, longevity, and the resilience of our communities,” said Kim Johnson, Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency. “Building a healthier California for all means strengthening the social foundations that help people and communities thrive. The Social Health Council brings together diverse perspectives and expertise to deepen our understanding of the connection between social well-being and health and turn that knowledge into meaningful action.”

This is her statement at the launch in February of Siebel Newsom’s California Love, California Strong:

“Connection and belonging are foundational to health and well-being. We are committed to building a healthy California for all where every person feels supported and every community feels seen. One of the most important ways to do this is to make connections and foster belonging in our communities,” said Kim Johnson, Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency.

It sounds as if the Governor’s wife, First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom has just launched an identical council to the last one she launched.

Hypocrisy, deceit, pretense, thy name is Newsom. And she sounds really lonely.

  1. Just more projection from the left. I wonder if PG&E will be a big sponsor of the new “council”. Asking for a friend.

  2. I agree ” it’s “stupid”. Best intro line that I have read in quite some time. Could you imagine being relegated to do stupid things in public and having to call them smart?
