Gov. Newsom Claims President Trump is Trying to ‘Steal’ the 2026 Midterm Elections

California Governor Gavin Newsom is parading around friendly media outlets trumpeting that President Donald Trump is attempting to steal the midterm election.

Newsom has repeatedly and publicly claimed that President Trump is trying to “steal,” “rig,” or undermine the 2026 elections.

Newsom is using Alinsky tactics: Accuse your enemy of what you are doing, as you are doing it to create confusion. Because “The end is what you want and the means is how you get it.”

This is classic Newsom, in coordination with the Democrat machine to spread fear.

Governor Newsom was the Governor who boasted only two weeks in to his Covid statewide lockdowns in 2020 that it was the opportune time to advance more progressive (leftist) policies… while the watchful public and news media did not have access to the governor and Legislature.

“There is opportunity for reimagining a progressive era as it pertains to capitalism,” Gov. Newsom said. “So yes, absolutely we see this as an opportunity to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.”

The governor who bragged about being able to slip progressive legislation and policy past unsuspecting voters and media during covid is claiming President Trump is trying to “steal” the 2026 midterm elections.

Newsom’s statements build on a months-long pattern of accusing Trump of trying to steal or rig the midterms, with posts and remarks that “Donald Trump is trying to steal the 2026 election.”

As the Globe has reported, the DOJ sued California on October 15 after state officials refused to review a password-protected thumb drive listing more than 20,000 people federal agencies (USCIS and Homeland Security Investigations) identified as likely noncitizens who had been mailed live ballots under the state’s universal vote-by-mail system. 

The DOJ sought to have those ballots set aside until citizenship status is verified, citing DHS data comparisons. Gov. Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta called the list unreliable, and rejected the demands as disruptive so close to the election, and disingenuously claimed it risks disenfranchising eligible voters.

DHS had earlier flagged as many as 190,000 potential noncitizens on California rolls; the more targeted list of ~20,000 emerged from multi-agency cross-matching.

A federal judge denied the request to sequester the ballots, and related challenges continue.

The Trump administration also announced plans to deploy federal election monitors. Newsom claims this is intimidation and voter suppression.

The DOJ explains that this is standard oversight to enforce federal election laws. Noncitizen voting is illegal under federal law.

Governor Newsom’s own political gamesmanship instigated and then he signed SB 280 to allow a mid-decade redistricting, setting aside the voter approved California Redistricting Commission.

Gavin Newsom has a short memory for his own actions to solely benefit his personal and Democrats’ political ambitions.

Gavin Newsom is the problem here – and ironically he will deploy election lawyers to battleground districts to protect “every vote” instead of requiring voter ID, which would achieve the same thing and prevent illegal immigrants from voting.
