CA Democrats Kill Child Sex Trafficking Bill, MSM Makes Newsom the Hero

Did they forget Gov. Newsom signed a bill to protect sex offenders who have sex with minors?

By Katy Grimes, July 13, 2023 8:14 am

It’s all over the news: A bill to make sex trafficking a felony once again in California was blocked Tuesday in the Assembly Public Safety Committee by Democrats, after passing unanimously in the Senate, the Globe reported.

Currently human trafficking is defined as a “non-serious” crime which means the act of human trafficking cannot be considered a strike under California’s Three Strikes law.

Senate Bill 14 by Senator Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) was voted down in the Assembly Public Safety Committee with 6 Democrats abstaining and 2 Republicans voting “aye”… that means Democrats wouldn’t even commit to a “no” vote lest it look bad during reelection time.

The uproar over Democrats killing a bill to combat child sex trafficking (again) as a serious felony was felt across the entire state. Law enforcement, parents, educators, talk show hosts, were livid.

Senator Grove spent much of Wednesday addressing the outrage, as well as conferring with Assembly Public Safety Chairman Reggie Jones Sawyer, and even Governor Gavin Newsom. By the end of the day Grove held a press briefing updating media after having talks with Jones Sawyer, and Gov. Newsom, and said while the governor was also disappointed with the Public Safety Committee’s decision, he would help get the bill resurrected and passed. (Video below)

Sir Galahad rides to the rescue? No, more likely is Governor Gavin Newsom is making another calculated campaign decision as he is the Presidential candidate in waiting.

Here is how the Associated Press reported this:

“California Gov. Gavin Newsom steps in to help revive a stalled bill on child trafficking.”

“California Gov. Gavin Newsom stepped in on Wednesday to help revive a bill in the state Legislature that would increase penalties for child trafficking in the state, siding with a Republican state senator over some members of his own party.”

What a great guy. Right?

Remember, this is the same Gov. Gavin Newsom who in 2020 signed Sen. Scott Wiener’s Senate Bill 145, which lowers the penalties for adults who have sex with same-sex minors. Think about that – Gov. Newsom signed a bill to protect sex offenders who have homosexual sex with minors. The bill allows a 24 year old to have sex with a 14 year old and escape a felony conviction and requirement to be a registered sex offender.

Couldn’t that be considered a form of sex trafficking?

Here’s Gov. Newsom campaigning his virtue:

He said he called Grove to talk about the bill, telling reporters that the call “is indicative of my desire to see what we can do with it.” Newsom said he “cares deeply” about the issue, noting he signed a state budget last year that included $25 million for services for children who had been victims of sex trafficking.

“I want to understand exactly what happened yesterday (in the committee),” Newsom said. “I take it very seriously.”

Isn’t that interesting. In 2020, he didn’t take it very seriously:

If there are any lingering doubts about Sen. Wiener’s intent with SB 145, the bill analysis is much more clear than Sen. Wiener:

“This bill states non-forcible sodomy, oral copulation, and sexual penetration with a minor do not require mandatory sex offender registration unless there is a ten-year gap between the minor and the other person. However, a court may still require registration if it deems appropriate. These offenses, when committed without force, where the minor was a willing participant and under the age of 14 are sometimes referred to as “Hofsheier offenses.” People v. Hofsheier (2006) 37 Cal.4th 1185 held that requiring mandatory sex offender registration for one such an offense – oral copulation – was unconstitutional if the state did not also require registration for a person convicted non-forcible sexual intercourse with a minor because it made an illegal distinction based on the sex act itself.”

“Non-forcible sodomy, oral copulation, and sexual penetration with a minor” is the first legal problem with this bill as it is against the law to have sex with a minor – gay or straight. The legal age of consent in California is 18 years of age. The age of consent refers to the age at which a person can legally consent to any sexual intercourse.

If there is a real inequity in the laws governing sex with minors, this bill is only undermining any sincere attempt to address that.

Democrats are on the wrong side of the law on this very serious issue, and Gov. Newsom knows it. California. Democrats have killed numerous bills to correct this since Proposition 57, passed in 2016 by voters, reclassified many serious heinous crimes as “non-serious.”

As Senator Grove reported, “California consistently ranks number one in the nation in the number of human trafficking cases reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline. The California Attorney General notes that California is one of the largest sites for human trafficking in the United States, recognizes the serious nature of this crime, and has defined it as “modern day slavery.” “Human trafficking is among the world’s fastest growing criminal enterprises and is estimated to be a $150 billion-a-year global industry. It is a form of modern day slavery that profits from the exploitation of our most vulnerable populations.”

The Globe is pleased that Gov. Newsom is willing to right this wrong. He is doing the right thing, but for all of the wrong reasons. What about the minors “consenting” to non-forcible sodomy, oral copulation, and sexual penetration with adult men?

Politics takes precedence over principle.

  1. This issue is so important, that I do not care what his reasoning is. He needs to see this bill through!

Maybe we should be slightly thankful he is running a shadow campaign for 2024 presidential race. Uggh.

  2. With the way that the Democrats did this, it’s more looking like a coordinated plan to BOOST Gruesome Newscum’s political future. I wouldn’t put it past those idiots in Sacramento.

In other words: “They screwed up and I’m going to ride in on and save the day..!!”

How stupid were these Democrats to vote this way even when Anthony “kids should be able to see my junk” Wiener voted to support the bill. Guess they had friends who would have been impacted by this legislation, right.?

  3. As Katie pointed out, Democrats are on the wrong side of the law and public opinion. Democrats and Newsom know this so they ramp up their propaganda media like the AP (aka All Propaganda) to announce that Newsom will step in to help revive a stalled bill on child trafficking. It’s so predictable?

  4. According to the gay and trans community, the definition of “hate” is not allowing gay and trans pedophiles to fuck your children, and the California legislature wants to defend the gay and trans community’s desires.

    1. Exactly right.
Should we also add the new CA constitutional up-to-birth-and-beyond abortion law Gruesome championed as “reproductive health care?” Plenty of harm to children there!
Sometimes it hits me anew —- you too? —- just what a disgusting vile evil person Newsom is.
This is one of those times.

  5. “Did they forget Gov. Newsom signed a bill to protect sex offenders who have sex with minors?”
YUP! Nailed it. Sure, those of us paying attention in CA know he is a 100 Proof PHONY about this, and Gruesome’s yeccchy self-righteousnessness and media boost is a bunch of bull to serve his Prez Run, but we need to hang on to this one and remember to use it as ammo for an even darker time in the future should Gov Gruesome actually be a candidate. God forbid.

  6. Currently human trafficking is defined as a “non-serious” crime which means the act of human trafficking cannot be considered a strike under California’s Three Strikes law.

Who are these idiots to define human trafficking a “non-serious crime? Democrats off course…

  7. I knew when I read about the bill, this was done just for Newsom to look like some hero- the bill was absurd, like most that he does sign, ‘but this one way over the top. With child sex trafficking top of mind these days, Newsom could not let this go by without making himself out to be some great governor. Did you know that he did in fact reduce sentences for convicted pedophiles a few months ago. This man is no hero, oh, maybe in his own head.

  8. It is so wonderful to see how transparently anti-Democrat the California Globe is. Other outlets may put a fig leaf on their disdain, but not the CG! They still LIE to y’all about SB-145, telling you “Gov. Newsom signed a bill to protect sex offenders who have homosexual sex with minors. The bill allows a 24 year old to have sex with a 14 year old…” That is not true. The 24 year old would still be liable for arrest and conviction. SB-145 enables the judge to decide which offenders belong on the sex offender registry. It is still illegal for a person 18 years old to have any kind of sex with a person less than 18 years old. Do you really want your 18 year old daughter’s name on the offender registry because she %^@##$ with her 17 year old boyfriend? I hope you’d prefer that she wait to have any kind of sex, but does she belong on the offender registry? Really?

  9. The MSM are pro child sex trafficking, as is Newsom. It’s pretty obvious with the MSM doing all they can to dissuade people from watching the “Sound of Freedom” movie that exposes child sex trafficking. Over 90% of media is owned by just a few corporations, and it is them that call the shots.

  10. Anyone opposing this bill is showing that they are involved in, or at least profiting from, human trafficking, especially child sex trafficking. NO ONE should be opposed to this bill!!

  11. Thanks for addressing this very important issue of sex trafficking and how it’s pushed and protected by law.
This is a huge global problem with Newson playing his part along with education simultaneously pushing sex grooming children education.
    Speak it out in protest.

  12. Pathetic! Unacceptable! Can only imagine what this piece of work has done to California behind closed door deals.

  13. Why would anyone vote No on a bill to increase penalties for sex trafficking of minors? Why are the Democrats for the sex trafficking of children? This is a huge industry in CA with a lot of money being made by criminals and those receiving money from them. Children are being abused and exploited across the state by sex traffickers and evil men. And Democrats turn a blind eye. We don’t often see a political party condoning evil this clearly in their voting. Money, sex, and power drive the voting of Democrats today.

  14. DemocRATS support pedophilia and the child sex trade. Senile Joe Biden is a pedo.

Our schools are filled with vile, evil, sexually perverted, sicko, freaks, totally devoid of any moral fiber and who have no intention of teaching your children school subjects, but are dedicated to making your children into vile, evil, sexually perverted sicko freaks like they are. Get your children out of public school NOW!

  15. Almost everyone at the top of entertainment, government, industry etc ,etc are members of the pedo mafia. Everyone needs to go see the Sound of Freedom. It is no exaggeration to say this is probably the most important movie of all time.

  16. This bill should have flown past committee with 100 percent approval. Maybe those that abstained should have their closets closely looked into for pedophile skeletons.

  17. never believe what you read in the news when it comes to politics it is all smoke and mirrors. newsom wanting to live at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, comes to the rescue against 6 incredibly evil demo-rats who refused to vote a bill out of committee against traffickers of children because they felt that calling this atrocity a serious felony, subject to 3 strikes law, was too harsh. This bill had already passed the state senate in a bi-partisan unanimous vote. What would make these pro-criminal demo-rats change and pass the bill? Well, it sure looks good on newsom’s presidential resume and by their re-election time no one will remember what a dirty trick they played on the American people this week.

  18. This is a crime, I hope every parent holds who ever passes this bill including Newsom responsible for any harm that come to there child. you are all sick in the head.
