UPDATE: CA Sen. Dianne Feinstein Announces She Won’t Run for Re-election
‘My thanks to the people of California for allowing me to serve them’

UPDATED below: U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.), who is 89 (soon to be 90), announced she will not run for re-election, ending months/years of speculation and rumors. She has held the Senate seat for 30 years, first elected in 1992.
“I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024,” she said in a statement. She said she intended to “to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends.”

“Each of us was sent here to solve problems. That’s what I’ve done for the last 30 years, and that’s what I plan to do for the next two years. My thanks to the people of California for allowing me to serve them,” Sen. Feinstein said.
Her announcement has cleared the way for what is already looking to be cutthroat fight among fellow Democrats for her seat.
Several Democrats didn’t wait for Feinstein to announce and jumped to the front of the line, with announcements to run for her seat.
California Democrat Rep. Katie Porter was the first to announce.
“Congresswoman Katie Porter (D-CA) announced on Twitter Tuesday that she will be running for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) Senate seat in 2024, opening the door for what could be a contentious Senate primary and general election next year,” the Globe reported in January.
Congress members Schiff and Barbara Lee (D-CA) both announced their intentions to run within a week of Porter, with other candidates, such as Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA), Attorney General Rob Bonta, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra, and San Francisco Mayor London Breed being amongst other rumored candidates, the Globe reported Feb. 2.
Feinstein was first elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1969, and remained on the board for nine years. When San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk were assassinated in 1978 by former supervisor Dan White, Feinstein became acting mayor, and was then elected.
Feinstein ran for governor of California in 1990, but lost to Republican Pete Wilson.
Whoops – did Senator Feinstein’s staff not tell her that she will retire at the end of her term? A reporter asked Sen. Feinstein today about her announcement to retire. “I haven’t made that decision. I haven’t released anything.” Staffer: “We put out the statement.” Feinstein: “You put out the statement? I didn’t know they put it out.”

Well maybe she did or maybe she didn’t. She is so senile she can’t remember resigning.
Feinstein later disputed her office’s statement on her retirement. “I haven’t made that decision. I haven’t released anything,” Feinstein said to reporters. “We put out the statement,” one of the senator’s staffers said. “You put out the statement? I didn’t know they put it out,” Feinstein said. It appears that her office made the decision for her?
Maybe she’ll be retiring to Hell’s Sulphur Lakes with her CCP billions?
As bad as Feinstein is, every Democrat vying to take her place is way worse.
TJ, That’s correct. Feinstein is a Democrat from a slightly different era. The parade of freaks, wokeists and Marxists lining up to take her place will be mind boggling. And the public employee unions will make sure one of them is elected.
A perfect example of why we need age limits and term limits in all elected offices. Feinstein should have been retired from the Senate decades ago.
