This chart provides an explanation of the component parts of a bill in the California Legislature:

Part of the Bill	Explanation
Amendment Version	This is the date the bill was last amended
House and Number	This is the number of the bill, along with whether it is an SB or AB
Authorship	The author is listed on the top line, and below are principal co-authors and co-authors
Introduction Date	This is the date the bill was introduced
Title	This is the description which Code(s) and Section(2) being added, amended, and/or repealed
Relating Clause	This is the phrase that describes the subject matter of the bill
Subject	This is the description of the subject matter of the bill
Digest	This is the summary of what existing law is and how this bill would change existing law in the Legislative Counsel’s Digest
Digest Keys	This is the listing of four keys and whether one or more of them are impacted by the bill (vote; appropriation; fiscal committee; and local program)
Enacting Clause	This is the statement preceding the text of the bill: “The People of the State of California do enact as follows…”
Plus Section(s)	This is a bill section found at the end of the text of the bill that makes non-statutory changes (e.g., urgency clause, special statute, state-mandated local program)
