Gov. Newsom Again Extends His Emergency Powers, State of Emergency, Mask Mandates

This is not about public health

California Governor Gavin Newsom yet again extended his own emergency powers and California’s COVID state of emergency, despite 46.4 million vaccines administered and COVID dwindling in the state. This is not about public health, but about his power, control and obedience by the people.

Newsom promised to open California on June 15th and reneged – he moved the goalposts again, for the ninth time.

“So much of Progressive totalitarianism is simply creating problems, then ‘fixing’ problems, all while imposing even more confiscatory taxation and stifling regulation, and expanding the public union bureaucracy with additional layers of unaccountability and prevailing wages,” a political friend commented after Newsom’s announcement.

That statement sums up the last 15 months in California.

“Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Friday that he will extend his emergency powers and the state of emergency, as well as some masking mandates past the June 15th reopening date, keeping intact the emergency powers and ‘one man’ decisions first granted to him last year,” the Globe reported.

Assemblyman James Gallagher responded with a Tweet: “The Governor’s actions today show exactly why our lawsuit is so important. The Governor has no intention of giving up one-man rule over CA. @KevinKileyCA and I are headed to the CA Supreme Court soon.”

Assemblyman Kevin Kiley also responded to Newsom’s decree with a Tweet: “It hardly even matters that Gov. Newsom is refusing to end the State of Emergency on June 15. Either way he’ll keep abusing his power until he’s removed.”

Kiley makes an important point. Gov. Newsom has grossly abused his powers during the COVID lockdown of California, which is what led Gallagher and Kiley to file their lawsuit, headed to the California Supreme Court.

At this point, either the California Legislature can revoke his emergency powers (and should already have), or the pending recall election, if successful, could remove him from office.

It was in a speech on youtube that Newsom made the announcement – not in a press conference where actual live members of the media might have been present. Because of his 15 month State of Emergency and lockdown orders, Newsom has been able to avoid live press conferences and any real one-on-one press scrutiny.

In a speech made before his “Vax for the Win” lottery drawing in Sacramento Friday, Newsom said, “The one thing I am certain of is: There’s uncertainty in the future. The emergency remains in effect after June 15 because we’re still in a state of emergency. This disease has not been extinguished. It’s not vanished; it’s not taking the summer months off,” Newsom added.

Of course there’s uncertainty in the future – there always uncertainty.  That statement means absolutely nothing. As for “This disease has not been extinguished. It’s not vanished; it’s not taking the summer months off,” Newsom has said this many times, and no one in the media has challenged the patent absurdity of it. Coronavirus is a virus. It won’t be “extinguished” or “vanished.” Ever.

“If Newsom believes the state is safe enough to reopen, then it’s safe for people to be able to make decisions for themselves without his arbitrary and capricious rules,” Senate Republican Leader Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita) said Friday. “I believe it is time for him to hang up his crown and restore our democracy. In California we don’t grow bananas, so there’s no need for a banana republic.”

“Since the governor refuses to relinquish his crown, the Legislature should pass [legislation such as the emergency powers termination bill SCR 5] and do it for him.”

Is the virus only present in California and not the other states? Why are at least 45 other states open?

It was during an April 6 press conference, Newsom said more than 20 million vaccines had been administered,  and announced, “It is time to turn the page on our tier system and begin looking to fully reopen California’s economy. We can now begin planning for our lives post-pandemic.”

What happened to that promising future?

Newsom also announced Friday that the mask mandate will not be ending in full, breaking the promise he made last month of all mask mandates ending on June 15th, the Globe reported. Instead, he will be following new Cal/OSHA recommendations requiring masks in many workplaces until at least July 31st.

Despite the mask order lacking any science behind it, this announcement made it clear that the people are being manipulated and controlled.

Cal-OSHA’s order, in obvious collusion with the governor, now requires all employees to wear masks even if one employee is unvaccinated. So if you want to keep your job, even if you’ve been vaccinated, you must wear a mask at work.

A recent University of Louisville study found that “mask mandates and use are not associated with lower SARS-CoV-2 spread among US states.”

“Our findings do not support the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 transmission rates decrease with greater public mask use,” notes the U of L report, Spencer Brown reported at Townhall. Researchers stated that “masks may promote social cohesion as rallying symbols during a pandemic, but risk compensation can also occur.”

Prolonged mask use (>4 hours per day) promotes facial alkalinization and inadvertently encourages dehydration, which in turn can enhance barrier breakdown and bacterial infection risk. British clinicians have reported masks to increase headaches and sweating and decrease cognitive precision. Survey bias notwithstanding, these sequelae are associated with medical errors. By obscuring nonverbal communication, masks interfere with social learning in children. Likewise, masks can distort verbal speech and remove visual cues to the detriment of individuals with hearing loss; clear face-shields improve visual integration, but there is a corresponding loss of sound quality.

The governor surely has this information as the U of L study also quotes many other studies. Yet he has ordered continued mask wearing in full contradiction of the science, to the health detriment of the people of California.

The Globe just received a message from a family member in the state of Virginia – “VA is open and MASKLESS! Come visit!”

That sounds really nice right about now.

He is a vapid, megalomaniac ! Of course his words mean nothing.
If we were to avoid uncertainty, then we might as well never get out of bed every morning.

Fellow Californians, it is okay to admit a mistake was made when you voted for him. Now let’s undo the mistake and recall him! The courts are moving way to slow on this!

    1. I am praying that Greusom is recalled, but my family and I fled to free America……Florida.

  2. I thought all the Democrats were “following the science.” Appears they are not and have another agenda they’re working on. Wake up Californians-you are being played!!

  3. I like the response on the similar thread :

Newsom has effectively just declared martial law in California, because the future is uncertain, so his Executive Order stands…

    Think about THAT circular logic…

And I thought Jesuit Jerry “The Clown” Brown was bad…

We didn’t know what bad WAS….

  4. Judging by the traffic levels in my region (Sacramento down to Stockton) it’s looking like Gavin’s petty dictates have only served to severely damage the State’s economy and overall mental health.

Most rational folks only wear masks in public so-as not to be harrassed by the Liberal Brown-shirts and militant hypochondriacs. Businesses and pretty much everyone not a government employee or Union education employee are trying to move forward despite Gavin’s resistance.

BTW: I’m in a service industry job spending my days largely among the high risk groups so sheltering (OK, cowering) at home was never an option. From my perspective, much of this Covid bruhaha has been mostly politicized BS.

    1. Good stuff, Really?
Our life experiences through all this can help shine the light on the truth of the matter.
God rest the souls that passed from the Wuhan virus, but I have yet to meet someone who has had the virus, my entire extended family has not been sick for the last 15 months.

History will tell us that this virus was manipulated to usher in a global agenda, the great reset.
Fear has shown to be a great motivator that has overridden many peoples common sense and reasoning skills. It is very sad.

  5. So NewSCAM won’t relent on his tight fisted grip. Pathetic little bovine. Hiding behind big tech, afraid to show his stupid little face to actual state reps or reporters when he recanted his earlier statements. Remember, its N E W S C A M, formerly known as Newscum.

  6. Well, we keep taking it, so I guess we deserve it. Until there is a meaningful “intervention” that removes this SOBPOSMFCS from office, save your moaning. Garcetti, Schiff, Breed, Boudin, Liu, Napolitano, and the whole rest of the big tent clown show are a reflection of CA votership, not the cause of it. God is giving CA an ass-ramming; only time will tell if it wakes us up or not (of course, in SF, they’ll celebrate that).

  7. Starting on June 16, some enterprising person(s) will start selling “F…K NEWSOME!” bumper stickers. Though I usually avoid vulgar bumper stickers, I’ll make an exception in this case. Give me 20, please.

  8. The Emergency Services Act makes it clear that his “emergency” expired after 60 days. That was May 6, 202 – LAST YEAR!!
He has no power to extend it indefinitely. This extension has no force of law.
