Congressman Continues Push for FISA Transparency

Devin Nunes Chairs the House Intelligence Committee

Late last night Congressman Devin Nunes (R-Fresno) appeared on Fox News in a continuing effort to call for and bring attention to the declassification and release of the FISA warrants the Department Of Justice (DOJ) used to spy on Carter Page.

Though it has been verified through the release of some documents that Carter Page, a former campaign adviser to then-candidate Donald Trump, was indeed under secret surveillance during the 2016 election, the most desired DOJ documents have yet to be released.

Furthermore, just this week the founder of the Washington DC-based communications shop Fusion GPS, which assembled and distributed the so-called “Steele dossier” has just pleaded the Fifth Amendment. This is significant because the dossier, which has been traced to opposition research funded by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign, contains salacious allegations against President Trump – the same allegations that initially sparked the alleged Russia collusion scandal. Now almost two years later, with no evidence to prove any corroboration between the President and Russia, the founder of Fusion GPS Glenn Simpson, who pleaded the fifth in what appears to be an effort to dodge testifying before Congress, is under massive attack.

Nunes, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, expressed a deep disappointment in United States Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for continuing to withhold the document despite numerous calls for release from Congress and President Trump.

After being asked by show host Tucker Carlson if he has seen any evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government, Nunes responded, “No I have not, in fact I’ve seen the opposite. That we know for sure… Glen Simpson was working for the Clinton campaign, he got information from Russia’s, that information was fed into to FBI Simpson was spreading that to the press and now we know he was meeting with FBI long before he testified about meeting with the FBI.”
