Joe Biden Chooses Kamala Harris as VP Nominee

‘Battle tested’ younger VP candidate to compliment Biden’s decades of political experience

After months of daily speculation, Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden just announced his running mate will be U.S. Senator Kamala Harris of California, whose own 2020 presidential candidacy ended in December 2019.

Biden had committed to choosing a woman of color as his V.P., particularly after the death of George Floyd. Harris is the daughter of immigrant parents – her father is from Jamaica and her mother is from India – is frequently incorrectly referred to as “African American” by the American mainstream media.

“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate,” Biden said in a tweet Tuesday evening announcing the news.

During the 2020 Presidential Primary, some Democrats polled expressed dislike of Kamala, while others found her “screechy.” Most of the criticism of Harris came after her debate performances and Senate hearings, where she turned into a prosecutor. During then-CIA Director Mike Pompeo’s Senate confirmation hearings, Harris grilled him on whether climate change was a leading national security threat.

Harris supporters say her prosecutorial experience as San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General intimidated many but made her “battle-tested.” However, Harris was known as soft on violent crime and homicides, both of which dramatically increased during her tenure as DA.

Her presidential campaign was frequently was marred by irony and controversy, along with a lack of funds and enthusiasm.

Harris, a sponsor of the Green New Deal, supports felons being able to vote, and said she would use executive action to take gun dealers’ licenses away and an assault weapons ban, has been a U.S. Senator since 2018. She was California’s Attorney general 2011-2017, and San Francisco D.A. 2004-2011.

Willie Brown, Harris’ former beau, the former Assembly Speaker and a California political powerhouse, recommended Harris not take the VP slot if offered. “Harris is a tested and proven campaigner who will work her backside off to get Biden elected,” Brown said (Interesting choice of words…). “That said, the vice presidency is not the job she should go for — asking to be considered as attorney general in a Biden administration would be more like it.”

Main stream media calls Harris a “fearless fighter for the little guy,” but California Globe reported in June, “’Kamala Harris for the People’ campaign just held a fundraiser at the home of billionaires Ann and Gordon Getty in San Francisco, on what has come to be knows as “Billionaires Row,” reputed to be the wealthiest block in the world. Getty is a former oil tycoon. The cost to attend: up to $28,000.”

Harris largely adopted Bernie Sanders’ socialist platform while campaigning. As such, many predict Democrats will be growing the silent majority if the hard left dominates the campaign issues.

Willie Brown suggested Kamala look at being named Attorney General: “On the other hand, the attorney general has legitimate power. From atop the Justice Department, the boss can make a real mark on everything from police reform to racial justice to prosecuting corporate misdeeds. And the attorney general gets to name every U.S. attorney in the country. That’s power.”

Reports are out having Joe Biden making apologetic phone calls to Rep. Karen Bass and Susan Rice.

  1. “California” Harris! Let’s make America, California. Do you think that motto will resonate in rest of the country?

  2. During the last election cycle, I maintained that if Hillary got in then you’d get a Civil War. And if Trump got in but then didn’t deliver, you’d have a Civil War as well.

(https://pjmedia.com/victordavishanson/2016/03/20/godzilla-vs-king-kong-n119171 and scroll down through the comments if you don’t believe me.)

Trump got in, and in many ways has proved a disappointment, the minutia of which being a topic of endless dreary debate, so we’ll leave that alone for now.

Anyway, we have this new nelection cycle. And so here’s a new prediction:

If Biden and Kamala get in, then you get a Civil War. Full Stop.

And if Trump gets in, and then continues his ill-informed floundering about – the guy really ought to read a book once in a while – whilst being sniped at by the various factions who would rather have a nationwide San Francisco/Portland/Seattle than have him succeed, then you get a Civil War. To quote what I wrote 4 years ago:

“…A civil war in this instance would be – broadly speaking – between
supporters of big-government Federalism/Cronyism vs. small government
Constitutionalism. There would be significant sidebars on the role of
“Diversity” – read Immigration ,legal or otherwise, and “Political
Correctness” – as well as the role of religion in politics – read
abortion, gay rights and the like. The offshoring of manufacturing jobs
as an issue is a given.

“The sides taken in such a conflict would
be complex mish-mash of region, educational level, income, and
    ethnicity, not easily defined.

“…Add to that the possibility that, threatened with large scale civil disruption, the powers that be might,in stupid desperation, launch yet another foreign adventure in order to “bring the country together.” Said adventure could easily result in a full scale foreign war, compounding the the violence.”

(Gee, what’s happening with China lately?)

Gun sales are way up. 5.56 is scarce. That tells you a lot right there, and no, it ain’t because of the virus.

Well, anyway, you read it here first. Make what you will of it. I gotta’ go walk the cat.

I like reading history, but I don’t want to live it.

    Just a thought.

  3. Grew up in Montreal, so yeah pretty much like a few others who think they are Americans. North Americans.

  4. So I’m guessing the wicked and evil past and intent of this woman doesn’t matter to pelosi and the dnc other than what will be useful to them. These democrats are now displaying full hubris in their choice of harris for VP.

Do they not realize everything known about her will be fodder for President Trump’s re-election campaign? This may be their strategy, and the response being the Trump administration is attacking her as ‘ not only a woman … but woman of color !! ‘

Hardly, all they’d be doing is mentioning her evil past that is and has been well known for years.

She’s looking out for the ‘ little guy’ you say? Really? If you search her name and abortion you’ll be sick as to what you find. This woman not only completely ignores the murder of human life but advocates for it as much as possible. That sure seems to take the appearance of child sacrifice to me. This woman is SICK to her core.
Don’t forget her work on Prop 47 and 57 :

    https://www.smobserved.com/story/2019/06/29/crime/sen-kamala-harris-proposing-crime-and-homelessness-for-the-entire-country/3812.html

This woman reminds me of jezebel in The Bible, and the only thing she is looking out for is the evil she obeys.

  5. Uh, I don’t want to sound like a dummy or something but what exactly are Kamala Harris’s accomplishments in the Senate? I looked and I could not find any. I know she likes to treat people like dirt in Senate hearings, but what has she done? Can anyone give me a clue?

    1. @SBCARNUT53,
Thank you, that is what I thought. I also wonder if Kamala believes Tara Reade’s accusations as when she believed Blaisey Ford’s accusations against Judge Kavanaugh? Just some thoughts.

  6. Let’s see – she’s gotten to where she has on her back, fast-tracking her way to the top, with no significant positive legislative accomplishments to speak of, and he’s a 40 year swamp dweller who likes to sniff, touch & hug women and little girls…

Sounds like a dream ticket match to me…they belong together….

God help the rest of us, if the low-information voters actually vote for this train wreck of a ticket…

  7. My take is that Obama is the power behind droolin’ Joe. If he thought ol’ Joe could win then Michelle would be the VP pick until the day after the inauguration at which time she would unceremoniously boot ol’ Joe out the back door. The fact that Joes handlers picked a wildly unpopular person like Harris tells me the Obama’s think he will lose. Not only will he lose but they will blame Harris for the loss.
