Newsom Travels 5,000 Miles to UN Climate Summit to Kvetch About World Climate Crisis

Since 1990, California’s imports of petroleum from non-U.S. producers have increased by a staggering 713%

Tuesday the Trump Administration announced plans to open nearly all U.S. waters to oil drilling leases, including new offshore leases off of the California coast, the Globe reported. The proposal outlines six lease sales in areas along the California coast between 2027 and 2030.

California Governor Gavin Newsom immediately responded that Trump’s proposal is “dead on arrival,” doubling down on California’s business-killing climate change policies, which don’t include oil.

This week, Gov. Newsom flew to Brazil for the UN Climate Summit – about 5,000 miles away. Newsom flew in along with 50,000 other elitist climate summit attendees to wail about the global climate crisis.

This “perfectly captures our elites’ nauseating hypocrisy in a grand carbon-emitting orgy traveling in hundreds of private jets to Brazil,” Climate Realists reported.

Meanwhile, back in the dreary America, AAA gas prices nationwide average $3.08 per gallon as of Wednesday, but not in California where the average price for a gallon of gas is more than $1.61 higher than the national average. That’s an additional $32.00 for a 20-gallon fill up.

Newsom’s State of California’s average gas price per gallon is $4.69, with the high hitting $5.83 per gallon in Mono County.

The national average cost for 20 gallons of gas is $61.50 – California’s cost for 20 gallons of gas is $93.50.

California’s governor and state Democrats need to stop attacking the oil and gas industry, which has resulted in refinery closures at a time when California needs more refineries, not less.

“Governor Newscum flew all the way to Brazil to tout the Green New Scam, while the people of California are paying some of the highest energy prices in the country. Embarrassing!,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement to the AP, after Newsom accused Trump and his administration of “doubling down on stupid,” the Hill reported:

“This Trump administration, his acolytes and the supine Congress led by Speaker [Mike] Johnson [R-La.], are doubling down on stupid,” Newsom told The Associated Press.

“We’re ceding cheap energy, green energy, infrastructure, supply chain manufacturing. We’re ceding economic power to other countries, notably China, taking advantage of that absence,” Newsom added.

“And they’re going to clean our clock economically unless we wake up to the economic imperative and opportunities of low carbon regrowth,” he added.

Gavin Newsom fancies himself a world leader rather than a governor who has a long list of very serious problems in his state… starting with the highest gas prices in the entire country – even higher than Hawaii, which has to import all crude, jet fuel, propane, diesel, oil and gas by tanker ship.

California Average Gas Prices

Regular Mid-Grade Premium Diesel
Current Avg. $4.691 $4.942 $5.120 $5.171
Yesterday Avg. $4.701 $4.948 $5.130 $5.164
Week Ago Avg. $4.678 $4.921 $5.102 $5.144
Month Ago Avg. $4.663 $4.901 $5.080 $5.149
Year Ago Avg. $4.505 $4.719 $4.892 $4.895

Gavin Newsom in Brazil is the biggest hypocrite of them all. He is talking indignantly about climate change, when under his administration California imports 50% of oil extracted from the Amazon rainforest, more than any other jurisdiction in the world. Yet Newsom lectures others about protecting the planet.

However, the California Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water passed a resolution in July to investigate the impact of California’s crude oil imports from the Amazon region. Whew. So glad they are going to investigate the impact.

The resolution is a nothing burger. Because Gov. Newsom won’t accept that the state needs more oil and gas, not less, the state imports more than 65% of its crude oil from foreign sources.

The Globe recently reported that California gas prices could escalate 75% to $8.43 per gallon in 2026 due to the pending shutdowns of two major in-state refineries, according to USC Professor Michael Mische.

“California can ill afford the loss of one refinery, let alone two,” said Professor Mische in a report in May warning of an impending gas crisis going into 2026.

“In 1982, California satisfied 62% of its petroleum needs from in-state oil producers,” says Professor Mische. “Since 1990, California’s imports of petroleum from non-U.S. producers have increased by a staggering 713%. While California was becoming more dependent on foreign sources, the overall U.S. became less dependent.”

For his warning, Professor Mische was rewarded with a very nasty smear from Governor Gavin Newsom, accusing the professor of being bankrolled by Saudi Arabia:

Professor Mische’s response is legendary.

California produces less than 23% of its own in-state petroleum needs and imports over 65% of its crude oil from foreign sources, yet the oil and gas industry in California account for nearly 8% of the state’s GDP, the Globe reported in October in an article warning that California’s self-inflicted gas crisis is a direct threat to U.S. military force readiness on the West Coast, and is a “Clear and Present Threat to National Security.”

Instead, Newsom expressed his commitment to battling climate change, and insists “California remains a stable and reliable partner in low-carbon, green growth,” and “The Trump Administration’s lack of duty, responsibility, or leadership to address the climate crisis is an abomination and a disgrace.”

California’s oil and gas industry provides 536,770 total jobs in California and 148,140 Californians are directly employed by its individual companies—along with the $338 billion total economic contribution to California’s economy. Those numbers are something we all should feel proud of.

Imagine what these numbers would be if California wasn’t shutting down refineries.

  1. He just got 17,000 illegal CDL’s cancelled by Sec Duffy, he’s making deals with foreign governments which is Unconstitutional, WHEN IS THIS GUY going to JAIL??? how many laws does he get to break? The Feds should be all over him.

  2. “California remains a stable and reliable partner in low-carbon, green growth.”
Record forests and residential neighborhoods up in smoke while green growth ruins landscapes, kills wildlife and increases energy rates. How stable and reliable is that for Californians?

  3. It’s as if he thinks he is the new face of a shadow government. Hmm?
The claim that he heads a state with the 4th largest world economy, leads him to think he can run California as a separate country from the UNITED States of America.
Honestly, Newsom is a megalomaniac (narcissistic personality disorder…) and needs to be wrangled in, as he is running this state into the ground.
Is it not obvious, he has abdicated his job as governor of California?
I wonder if the kids and first partner even miss his presence at home?

  4. If Gavin really had to participate in this summit and he really cared about the climate, he could have saved the “scary”carbon footprint he left by traveling and used the same technology our kids and grandkids had to use after Newsom locked them out of in- person learning-
It was again really all about King Newsom’s personal agenda and self promotion at taxpayer expense.

  5. “We’re ceding economic power to other countries, notably China, taking advantage of that absence,” Newsom added.”
And he’s enabling China’s economic GROWTH via his mandates and promulgations, and probably taking a kickback from the CCP along the way…

“California remains a stable and reliable partner in low-carbon, green growth.”
Green growth in your personal bank account, eh, Gavvie??? What a douchenozzle….

  6. I suspect that Newscum got wind of the Dana Williamson indictment and made sure that he was going to be OCONUS when it happened.

  7. Great article. That’s so good about Newsom’s naked hypocrisy when under his reign California imports 50% of oil extracted from the Amazon rain forest. (!!!) Didn’t know that. And so many other stellar points.
It strikes me that with each passing day Newsom is increasingly full of it and it’s obvious to everyone who is paying the slightest bit of attention. He’s so full of it he’s about to explode. It’s not endearing (DUH), thus he is forced to default to the Hate Trump stuff. And in the parlance of Climate Change World, that’s “not sustainable.”

The California Parallel Universe, The One That, MInus Gavin, Would be Happening

YES. Imagine. And that is just ONE of many many many California Parallel Universe issues.

  8. “California remains a stable and reliable partner in low-carbon, green growth” says “Let them eat cake, I live in a $9 million mansion” Gavin Newsom.

If it is so stable, then why did my electricity rates double in three years?

Somebody is getting rich off this green energy scam.

    1. Yes, Raymond for starters the solar panel manufacturers (China), EV manufacturers(China),plastic recycling(China) get rich off the green energy scam!

It is the same globalist playbook being used, titled, “How To Break The United States”. It has been discovered that the ACA aka Obamacare made the health insurance companies very profitable all the while we the consumers were being fleeced! Criminal!
It is not moral, it is not admirable or charitable.
This is corporatism and not capitalism!

  9. It has occurred to me that 4 years of Trumps administration, the FBI, DOJ etc., is NOT going to be enough time to weed out the blatant corruption by Democrats (even Republicans to be fair) across this country and especially this state. The wheels of justice are slow. If there is another Democrat put in the Oval Office, I believe, it will go back to business as usual. Newscum is just another Democrat that worships at the alter of climate change because he was told to. Unfortunaly for us, he has the power to affect everyone’s lives here in California. Good or bad, mainly bad. Maybe we need to get Bill Gates involved and let him talk to our idiot Governor, I heard Gates is starting to wake up about this Climate change bull crap. Maybe he can talk some common sense to Newscum, Nawwww. The first time I heard Al Gore talking about Climate Change, I knew it was another way to steal money from us. Carbon credits and all. Our Governor has to be Raking in the cash, that’s why he fights so hard for it. SMH. Have a great day everyone.

  10. Newsom has made a mess of California and we’re better off him out of the country. When he comes back, he needs to be brought before a court and be held accountable for his many crimes against humanity. He and his wretched soul have a lot to answer for.

  11. “We’re ceding cheap energy, green energy ….” Yet my $0.46/kWh, SoCal Edison rate is the highest in the county. Texas is $0.1532/kWh, almost 70% cheaper. I don’t understand.

  12. Of course Newscum is gallivanting around on the taxpayer dime. It’s the only thing he is good at with only air in that noggin. Overly emotional dofuss attempting to be smart somehow.
