American Academy of Pediatrics Doubles Down on Infant/Child Covid Vaccine

HHS: ‘We call on the AAP to strengthen conflict-of-interest safeguards and keep its publications free from financial influence’

I heard a radio ad this morning recommending the Covid shot for kids, brought to you by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which claims they are “dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children.”

This organization refers to pregnant women as “Pregnant People”, so they are hard to take seriously:

The AAP has doubled down on the old recommended childhood vaccine schedule, even after current CDC recommendations for the Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 6 months to 17 years should be “based on shared clinical decision-making,” the agency says.

The American Academy of Pediatrics vaccine recommendations:

Birth through 6 years:

7 through 18 years:

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the Covid vaccine for babies 6 months old, and for children of all age groups, while recent CDC/Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) guidance has moved toward shared clinical decision-making for many healthy children rather than a routine recommendation for all. The CDC says “shared clinical decision-making vaccinations are individually based and informed by a decision process between the health care provider and the patient or parent/guardian.”

“Under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the CDC doesn’t recommend COVID-19 shots for healthy children of any age, but instead, the administration says kids may get the shots in consultation with physicians,” CBS reported.

In the guidance published August 2025, the AAP is “strongly recommending” COVID-19 shots for children ages 6 months to 2 years old. For older children, shots are also advised but up to parents’ discretion, the AAP said.

In a statement to CBS News, HHS communications director Andrew Nixon said the American people “deserve confidence that medical recommendations are based solely on science and public health.”

“We call on the AAP to strengthen conflict-of-interest safeguards and keep its publications free from financial influence, ensuring every recommendation reflects only the best interests of America’s children,” the statement continued, in part, adding Kennedy has “stood firm in his commitment to science, transparency, and restoring public trust.”

Financial influence? Say it isn’t so AAP.

The AAP wasn’t listening and are now taking out ads recommending “the many benefits of the covid vaccination,” the ad says. And “together we are all healthier when everyone is vaccinated,” claiming that vaccination prepares your children to resist covid.

This is the updated CDC vaccine schedule for birth through age 6:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on January 5, 2026, that it was cutting the number of vaccines all children should get from 17 to 11. Six vaccines that pediatricians have routinely administered for years—against rotavirus, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and meningococcal disease—were either moved to categories for only children with certain health conditions or moved to a category called “shared clinical decision-making.”

Almost immediately, a group of 17 state attorneys general sued HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. attempting to restore the 17-shot childhood vaccine schedule.

“The Kennedy Schedule is the culmination of a series of unlawful actions in furtherance of Secretary Kennedy’s idiosyncratic and unscientific hostility to vaccines,” the complaint states, adding, “Defendants did not utilize established scientific decision-making frameworks, they identified no changed circumstances, and they ignored the clear risk to public health posed by downgrading routine vaccinations without notice or public comment.”

While many parents heaved a sigh of relief with the new vaccine recommendations, these AGs are showing their true colors – it’s not about the health and well being of America’s children, but their own political careers, and a healthy dose of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I wonder if the CDC recommends a vaccine for Trump Derangement Syndrome.
